I have Goats on trees.

Used to get the Sooty organiser but the photos are now disappointing.

When I was little I had big pictures of the store stump and crab apple cottage in my bedroom.. this is bringing back memories. They do embroidery kits too!

Midwinter Preparations Advent Calendar

Count down the days to the midwinter festivities with the brand new Brambly Hedge advent calendar.  Featuring a cosy scene from The Secret Staircase, the festive period would't be complete without one on the wall!

I love your Bramley Hedge one.
I'm dithering about a cathedral one for my parents...not got one for me yet!

OP, you might like an illustrator called Chris Dunn

I was in the Sooty fan club! Still conflicted about Little Cousin Scampi. I seem to remember he brought out the worst in Sue, and she was rather insufferable even on a good day. Sorry the organiser's gone downhill.

This is the one I had last year! I insist on "proper" advent calendars - I'm trying to convince DD that chocolate ones are far too new-fangled and self-indulgent. Wonder how long it'll be before she discovers the really new-fangled self-indulgent ones? 🤣

And this is where I bought my Christmas cards! Clearly I have found my tribe.

These are beautiful

My brother and I used to share a picture calendar, took it in turns each day! Imagine - kids these days don't know they're born 😄Bramble Hedge sounds lovely and easier on the ever expanding waistline at Christmas!

I love a nice stable scene. My younger self liked glitter on the calendar, but I am prepared to accept this is bad for the environment. The local cathedral shop often has lovely ones. Ye Olde Gifte Shoppes (again, in the cathedral city) are another good source. I think I got one from TKMaxx one year.

I love a picture advent calendar! I buy one for myself every year (the dc are unappreciative of such joys!).

I like a non-religious image, and ideally the sort of picture where the pictures behind the doors become part of the scene when opened.

I am obsessed with the 'add to the picture' advent calendars- one site started marketing last year as 'Continuity Calendars' and I'm overjoyed there's now a term to search for!

I love a proper old-fashioned advent calendar and have so many lovely memories of the excitement and anticipation of opening each little door to see the picture inside. All the while knowing that behind the double doors of No 24 would be the Nativity scene. Adult dd buys them for me now.

Ooh, I love that @Torchout !

Inspired by this thread I have ordered this one for me, sister and mum. So we'll all be opening same one even though hundreds of miles apart. I previously did a (strange) tea one with my sister which was fun to share but finding one all 3 of us might like is harder, so I'll see how this goes down.

When I was a child my sister and I used to each make a picture calendar. I made one for her and she made one for me so that we didn't know what was behind the doors. We did it because we were poor, but I loved it. I'm going to try and get my children to make one for eachother this year.

We’ve always had glittery picture advent calendars , they are part of the decoration for me! We’re had quite a few from Coppenrath. When mine were little they sometimes had a chocolate coin as well
