I kind of started today 🫣 but only because I went into Home Bargains and they had some things that would make great stocking fillers, so I bought them to put away for stockings. I’ve also bought one bargain off Vinted. Has anyone else started yet? I’d love to feel less crazy for getting bits now 😅

Yes much like you - one item i saw that woukd be perfect for DD and a Vinted bargain for DH. Not actively looking yet but I if see something I'm buying!

petitpasta · 24/07/2026 15:36

Waiting on a vinted BNWT bags for DD. It's a Dents bag - an old British brand which my great granny used to work for and which no longer makes bags so second hand is the only way to buy them now. I wanted her to have one while we can still buy them.

I have a number of "ber" month birthdays so I am also shopping for those and have some things already.

Yep, advent ordered for me! Liberty’s jellycat bunny ordered for my DD, some other little bits and pieces stashed away for stockings.
Also starting to get my food stash organised, redcurrant jelly and strawberry jam made.

These lovely books.

Handa's surprise!!! I had that as a child in the 90s, and only recently rediscovered it in my parents loft!

My 2 year old loves it.

No but I did see tubs of Celebrations on a promotion in a Tesco superstore yesterday. If they are for Xmas does Tesco realise its not even August yet?

dancehysterical22 · 24/07/2026 16:27

Not Christmas exactly but I do a Dec 1st Box for my DS and DD
I bought some mens' socks for DS back in January IIRC , they're navy with a nice embroidered motif .
Got a Nails Inc set for DD (6 nail polishes)

I was in Coscto today They Already Have Christmas Stock In Xmas Grin but I was very adult and calm and I didn't look ( It's mainly wrapping paper and ribbon on huge rolls that I don't need )
QVC have their Christmas in July Event so I'll have a look at that later .

I;ve got 3 mini Christmas Puddings in the pantry ( from last year or year before ) so that's a start , yes ?

ExplodingSmittens · 24/07/2026 16:33

Yes went to the Portmeirion factory shop last week and they had lots of Christmas ware so bought some Wrendale bits and bobs.

Then yesterday I picked up a box of shortbread that my DAunt had been admiring.

Almost forgot I actually started earlier in the month with a t-shirt for DH whilst we were away.

So yes, off to a good start here. Will probably forget what I’ve bought long before then though Smile

Velvera · 24/07/2026 16:35

I've bought a few things from the T J Jones closing down sale. Some nice Christmas candles reduced from 9,99 to 1.49. As well as a few reduced stocking fillers.

bluebeck · 24/07/2026 16:40

Hell yeah! I started months ago!

I walked right past today, wish I’d gone in now Smile

RowsOfFlowers · 24/07/2026 16:46

Have started pinning things to Pinterest board e,g stocking fillers, candles etc. that’s it! Might start buying a few things next week on pay day. It’ll be the first year I’m buying this early and spreading spending over the few months before Christmas rather than leaving it all to November-December!

pkt3chgirl · 24/07/2026 16:47

Ok. Don’t hate me. I start in the Christmas sales and keep buying through the year. I have a big box and a spreadsheet with everyone’s name and gift. I also buy extra because my DH and aunties will want to raid the stash for when they forget or they see something they like.

There wasn't a lot, but I did get a few bargains.

Velvera · 24/07/2026 16:53

I always buy my wrapping paper in the after Christmas sales in January. I got loads from the Card Factory. I also bought a lovely garland I had my eye on over xmas reduced to 1.99 in B & M.

No hate here !
It makes perfect sense , just remember where you hide things and what you've bought Xmas Grin
I need to buy some more gift bags , I bought some organza ones last year for DDs presents . Most of her Dec1st Box things are make-up , nail varnish , etc which I use the small bags for and can be re-used .
I have enough time to make some (it won't happen though ))

Chuffy22 · 24/07/2026 17:33

I started today! Had a nice little surprise from the tax man so bought Tankfest tickets for hubby, Hamilton tickets for three daughters and three granddaughters and Hadestown tickets for grand daughter’s (13) birthday in November! I’m well pleased with myself 😂
