Is it normal to think/be excited for Christmas this early?

I suspect not but I’m already thinking about Christmas 🫣 not that the general plan ever changes, we always have it just me, dh and dc at home (no one ever wants to go away, which I’m fine with). Do other people also think about it so early in the year??

No, defintely not, that would feel like wishing Summer away. I don't think about it at until November.

ShetlandishMum · 23/05/2026 07:46

I have done quite a lot of my gift shopping.

BlackCat14 · 23/05/2026 07:46

Meee! I love all seasons, love getting out in the sun etc, but Christmas is my favourite. I was abroad in the sun last week and got home late Saturday night. Sunday morning here was wet and cold, and I did think “oo this feels like winter, how lovely!”

Bryonyberries · 23/05/2026 07:46

No, too much else happening first and Christmas isn’t magical now my children are adults.

Notmyreality · 23/05/2026 07:46

No. Don’t be ridiculous.

Peonies12 · 23/05/2026 07:49

No, that’s weird. What a waste of life just thinking about a time months away

MarmaladeSandwich7 · 23/05/2026 07:51

I love Christmas but it is still only May. I work in retail so we start to get our festive stuff in as early as August but I don’t really get excited until after Bonfire Night really 🎄🎄🎄

sesquipedalian · 23/05/2026 07:57

No, and I speak as someone who loves Christmas. I’m also irritated by shops having mince pies and Christmas puddings in August - absolutely no need. I start shopping for Christmas presents from August onwards, but May? It’s a bit soon!

Openmouthinsertfood · 23/05/2026 12:32

Yes, I've bought three presents already, some Christmmas wrapping paper and a Christmas haul of decorations from Temu. Also whilst knitting Christmas projects the other day had Christmas films on in the background.
Those people that moan and say you're wasting the year - Why is it ok to yearn for summer, or look forward to a holiday, isn't that two sides of the samme coin? You're just looking forward to what you enjoy the most.

No, you’re wishing your life away.

No, you’re wishing your life away.

Or prolonging the enjoyment.

PumpkinsAndCoconuts · 23/05/2026 12:36

I always get excited when something / someone reminds me of Christmas!

PistachioTiramisu · 23/05/2026 12:38

No - it is not normal. Everybody just seems to want to rush through all the 'events' of the year nowadays - New Year, Valentine's, Mother's Day, Easter, Father's Day, etc. As soon as one is over, out come the cards and merchandise for the next thing. We should all slow down and enjoy every day for what it is. I also think it is very sad that so many people seem to 'live' for Christmas - it's one day in the year!

Musicaltheatremum · 23/05/2026 12:41

My birthday is July , also many September birthdays and my husband's birthday is 9th Dec. Then I think about Christmas. But we don't go mad. The meal is just a glorified roast dinner

PifflyHigs · 23/05/2026 12:43

I love Christmas. And I have an autistic child who is already asking if I'm excited about it. I put money away all year round and get gifts bought from about now, so I am technically thinking about it (but nearly all our birthdays are Nov/Dec too so i have to be super organised or else I couldn't afford it if i only started buying in autumn/winter)

Spottyvases · 23/05/2026 12:44

Well not really - but I will start thinking more about in August/Sept time 😃

PlantsAndSpaniels · 23/05/2026 13:11

Im always thinking about Christmas. Not obsessively, but always on the look out for things to buy or make, or films and activities to do with my child. This year im trying to plan early as my second will be due not long before so trying to think of ways to prepare early to still male it special when I wont have the energy nearer the time.

RonnieForteWhiskyTalkinNSOUL · 23/05/2026 13:32

At least Have summer first ..mentalist.

Sideorderofchips · 23/05/2026 16:36

I always think that if it is ok for people to wish for summer in winter then it is fine to wish for Christmas in the summer

Yerdug · 23/05/2026 19:08

Definitely not. Enjoy your summer.

LaurieFairyCake · 23/05/2026 19:16

Any time of year I think about Christmas I get a little excited ‘whoop’ in my stomach, I LOVE Christmas

However, it wouldn’t cross my mind to think about Christmas until someone reminded me

So thank you for the WHOOP 😊😊😊

WaterWonky · 23/05/2026 19:18

I always make my cake and pudding in June so I can have a bit of Christmas at the opposite end of the year.

mondaytosunday · 23/05/2026 19:19

judging by the amount of countdown to Christmas and themed stuff appearing on my FB feed you are definitely not alone!

SpaceAngel1999 · 23/05/2026 19:30

I love Christmas but not thinking about it yet. I’m more excited about my summer holiday!

allthegoldicouldeat · 23/05/2026 19:32

I’ve got the sprouts on.
