I know this is oddly specific but it's my mum's birthday in early Jan and I'm stuck! I spent ages thinking of little bits of pieces for Christmas and I've used up all but one of my ideas. We do smaller gifts for birthday, around 30-35, I've already spend 13 to something around 20-25 would be ideal.

She has lots of hobbies but I've covered most of those so am looking for something more generic (not like a bayliss and harding set!) but I guess something with a broader appeal? The other thing I've got is a cool book but it doesn't come out until Feb so it's an IOU so even worse! She did ask for this specific book. Thank you.

-Very practical but couldn't live without it - the small handheld vacuums

IfyouStealMySunshine · 27/12/2025 19:21

A brightly coloured Dock and Bay Towel - quick drying and sand resistant perfect for camping, or holidays/beach days.

HappyFace2025 · 27/12/2025 19:23

If it was me I would be very happy that you bought me the book I wanted even though it's not out until February!

Toooldtopretend · 27/12/2025 19:24

A set of Prym crochet hooks (you said she was crafty)

ChimneyPot · 27/12/2025 19:27

Gisou hair oil or hair mask. They work and smell gorgeous.

Christmaseree · 27/12/2025 19:28

I was given a £20 coffee shop voucher and I’m very happy with that.

SayingThisWithLove · 27/12/2025 19:28

Just like @PhantomOfAllKnowledgea silver ring from DH. It is Pandora, which I know some people don’t like, but I love it.

Arlanymor · 27/12/2025 19:29

Some nice pamper stuff ready for when she reads her book - I got a Rosie HW lounge set for £30 in M&S today reduced from £60. It's gorgeous. Can't wait to get home, put it on, pour some wine and start on the books I got for Christmas! (And probably put on a face mask and some of those moisturising socks!)

Gliblet · 27/12/2025 19:29

Does she wear perfume? Saltworks does 'discovery' boxes for under £30 that are a selection of 10 of their perfumes with enough in each to give them a few good tries, a little booklet telling you what 'notes' to expect from each, and a £25 voucher if you decide to buy a full size bottle (which will also come with a travel size worth another £25).

TheresOnlyOneWayOfLife · 27/12/2025 19:30

DS & DIL bought us both some beautifully wrapped ‘secret’ books based on a different genres. They were from Etsy, loved them

OSTMusTisNT · 27/12/2025 19:31

Some ides based on stuff I received - A snazzy journal/craft book with dotted bleed proof paper and a lay flat spine, various coloured pens and a ruler. All from Amazon and about £20 for the lot. I'll be using it for designing knitting patterns.

Some Scandi yarn that isn't easy to find in UK - £15

Christmascherry · 27/12/2025 19:33

All under £25 but still..

Cashmere hand/wrist warmers
Hotel Chocolat Chocolate Cream Liquer
Skandinavisk candle

Just like @PhantomOfAllKnowledgea silver ring from DH. It is Pandora, which I know some people don’t like, but I love it.

My gift wasn't Pandora but I like Pandora rings too, got my eye on a couple in their 50% off sale at the moment!

CosyMintFish · 27/12/2025 19:42

An oodie. It was on sale, but there are discounted ones around £30

Leicestershiremum · 27/12/2025 19:45

Order my mum in law a couple 6 month magazines subscriptions on offer for £6 for the 6 months to go with some other bits.

Notmymarmosets · 27/12/2025 19:45

Jigsaw puzzle

Anxietybummer · 27/12/2025 19:47

My favourite (and cheapest) gift was a little shower speaker. I love to listen to music in the shower so DH got me a waterproof speaker that suctions to the shower wall and connects to Bluetooth.

Took me 5 seconds to set it up. Not gimmicky and I love it.

oliveroses · 27/12/2025 20:03

Vase from Oliver bonas! They have some lovely ones and they look a lot more expensive than they are (in my opinion). About £20 upwards

Pineapplewaves · 27/12/2025 20:12

A nice jumper
Lego Flowers (and a vase to put them in)
Coffee shop gift card because I can’t afford coffee at £5.00 a cup anymore so that would be a real treat
Pyjamas and fluffy socks
Pandora charm or earrings
Chocolates or a nice tin of biscuits from M&S

ThatMintMember · 27/12/2025 20:39

Mule slippers from Next £20 and lovely quality :) also a Lush gift set, you can get them for around that price too.

Papersnowflakes · 27/12/2025 20:42

I was given a gorgeous and enormous white company candle that I think was £45 but they do smaller ones too. It's a really lovely fragrance
