I know this is oddly specific but it's my mum's birthday in early Jan and I'm stuck! I spent ages thinking of little bits of pieces for Christmas and I've used up all but one of my ideas. We do smaller gifts for birthday, around 30-35, I've already spend 13 to something around 20-25 would be ideal.

She has lots of hobbies but I've covered most of those so am looking for something more generic (not like a bayliss and harding set!) but I guess something with a broader appeal? The other thing I've got is a cool book but it doesn't come out until Feb so it's an IOU so even worse! She did ask for this specific book. Thank you.

Until recently I'd have said that was a rubbish gift but now I'm cutting back, I am enjoying a little treat each Monday morning on the way to work so a Neros voucher would actually make me happy.

Same, I received one last year and took my friend for a cake, coffee and catch up then had some money left for a couple of hot chocolates during January.

A nice jumper
Lego Flowers (and a vase to put them in)
Coffee shop gift card because I can’t afford coffee at £5.00 a cup anymore so that would be a real treat
Pyjamas and fluffy socks
Pandora charm or earrings
Chocolates or a nice tin of biscuits from M&S

I had beautiful Lego wildflowers fromy adult DS last Xmas. I love them.

Loccitaine almond shower oil

ITSSSSCHRISTMASSS · 29/12/2025 17:51

Towel wrap. I bought my mil one in her favourite colour, she was so happy and couldn’t believe she’s never thought to get herself one before. I apologised I couldn’t get the matching head wrap but she said it was ok as she never uses a towel on her head, she’s very short hair.

There are lovely sets out there.

My son got me a little tabletop water feature fountain thingy. I would never have considered buying one, but I absolutely love it!

Order my mum in law a couple 6 month magazines subscriptions on offer for £6 for the 6 months to go with some other bits.

Love that idea!

Cashmere wrist warmers.

A large soft scarf - loads in the sales at Fatface, sea salt etc.

Drink coasters - I bought some for my teen and he loves them for his room. They suit his style!

Dashcam - I gifted this to someone it was around 25 and they said they had wanted it for years but never got round to it.

A book nook from Amazon - takes about 6-8 hours to put together - they look lovely in a book shelf.

Little lights from Ikea to put on a bookshelf.

An artisan print framed from Etsy.

An artisan necklace from Etsy - there are some beautiful pieces on there and so unique.

Lego

Nice set of drinking glasses that she can use every day.

It was a typo, I meant cook book.

Cook books are great, too. I once gave a friend the first bit Bittman cook book, which was a big hit. The New York Times does a yearly list of the best.

Saltworkes starters kit. It's a collection of the perfumes that the company does.

I asked for and got it, for Xmas and I love it.

I've tried two of the samples so far, and have loved them both.

As an added bonus you get a voucher for £25 off your next purchase.

but I'm a lover of perfumes your Mum may not be.

concurrently I'm smelling of Lady Marmalade. Lovely.

Silk pillowcase? Currently £30 at M and S but there are some within your budget on Amazon.

CookingFatCat · 31/12/2025 02:16

My eyemask headband Blue-tooth headphones best gift to myself ever. Lots on Amazon (other sellers available maybe)

abbey44 · 31/12/2025 02:23

My friend knows how big a Masterchef fan I am and got me a replica apron with the logo and my name embroidered on it. I absolutely love it. I’d never in a million years be anywhere near the standard to get on the show, but in my dreams (& my own kitchen), well….

CarrieMoonbeams · 31/12/2025 02:27

A bit niche perhaps, but how about a Swiss Card classic ? It's normally around the £35 mark but there are a couple on Amazon on sale for about £25 depending on the colour. It's such a handy wee thing.

Edited to add, or how about a box of Spacemasks from Sephora? £16.50 for a box of 5, but it's free delivery on orders over £20 so just add in a single one too so you've got one for yourself! They are such a fantastically company to deal with too, outstanding customer service.

CarrieMoonbeams · 31/12/2025 02:35

*fantastic company, obviously, but I left it too late to edit 🙄
