7 Year old found Santa’s cute wrapping paper - how to explain tomorrow…

Help! I’d carefully kept wrapping paper separate from the main stash for the Santa gifts. I wrap two DDs in one style of paper each to distinguish them, and chose a cute kawaii style design for my youngest. Stupidly left a roll of it out last night when doing some last minute wrapping and she noticed it this morning and picked it up and commented how cute it was. How do I explain that her Santa presents have the same wrapping paper tomorrow? She’s very observant so will definitely ask!

Santa sent some wrapping paper in advance in case some of the presents come unwrapped or ripped when he takes them out of his stocking?

DarkEyedSailor · 24/12/2025 21:23

Don't use that one, use a different one?

GoldenPineapple15 · 24/12/2025 21:24

my Ds chooses the paper ( in this case you did ) and sends it to Santa so everyone gets paper they like .

They’re already all wrapped so it’s not worth changing it. But thanks for the idea @CherieBabySpliffUp - that might be the best explanation.

Santa sent a sample for your approval?

CheeseyOnionPie · 24/12/2025 21:27

Santa must have bought the same one because he knew she would like it!

FuzzyWolf · 24/12/2025 21:28

I would just re-wrap them with different paper.

MatchaTea1 · 24/12/2025 21:33

I’d have to re wrap if that happened in our house, wasteful I know but there are so few years that they truly believe! 🎅

Im sorry, thats how I found out. 😪

purpleme12 · 24/12/2025 21:35

I've said to my child that Santa had to borrow some of our wrapping paper before

Trentdarkmore · 24/12/2025 21:35

As a child I always thought Father Christmas got my parents to wrap all the presents for him, and that's why the labels were all in my mum's handwriting?

Notmyreality · 24/12/2025 21:36

Time to tell em Santas not real?

user593 · 24/12/2025 21:37

I would also re wrap.

GooseyGandalf · 24/12/2025 21:40

Leave them all unwrapped. Unless you want her to figure it out? It can be quite empowering to work it out logically rather than being told by the mean kid.

MaybeNotNo · 24/12/2025 21:41

Santa always sends presents for us to wrap as he has so many

kickingk16 · 24/12/2025 22:04

Thanks all! I really don’t have time to re-wrap them all tonight as there are loads of tiny stocking filler things all in the same paper. But I like the idea about Santa knowing that she liked it and selecting the same one so I’ll go with that and make sure story is straight with my other half.

She may work it out logically as well but I just didn’t want to be caught out without an answer tomorrow. Much appreciate all the ideas.

If she questions you'll just have to style it out "what a coincidence/Santa really knows you well" etc. she might not notice though. My mum always used to set a long, elaborate, Easter egg hunt. I commented on the Easter Bunny having the same paper/pens/handwriting and so on one year and merrily thought it such a coincidence because clearly it couldn't have been anything else.

felixnavidad · 24/12/2025 22:05

Depends.

If you want her to keep believing, re-wrap and just suck it up with a coffee tomorrow.

If you’re not bothered, leave it.

Curiousrobin · 24/12/2025 22:07

Father christmas just uses the same design that you have! A coincidence! Great minds think alike.

Grinchybinchy · 24/12/2025 22:08

i Had this once one of my kids asked Xmas day why the paper was the same as Santas, duh me..I think I said in the moment that the elves made all of the paper and grownups could get the same in Santas village, probably not the best response but hey ho! it’s so lovely the age where the magic is real 😊

IidentifyastheGrinch · 24/12/2025 22:09

Do people really wrap everything in the stockings?

I wouldn't go with some convoluted lie. Either re- wrap them or just accept your child is old enough to see through this now.

Sundriessundries · 24/12/2025 22:12

Santa has to buy stuff from shops too - he doesn’t make everything as he’s too busy - so you happen to have the same

Pascha · 24/12/2025 22:13

Santa shops at tesco like everyone else?

Yes because the time it took them to sit on my bed and unwrap all the tiny fiddly bits was my time to come round and wake up before the chaos 😂
