What is it going to be?
Mine would be the phrase "picky bits"
you're not cute, it's shit.

I cook it beautifully 😁 make slits all over, under the skin and stuff with herb butter. Delicious.

I'm coming to yours then.

The posts about not getting the gift they wanted.

Outside lights that flash.

They drive me crazy every year. If you want flashing lights then put them inside where only you have to look at them, don't force them on your neighbours!!

This 100%. There's some really ugly outdoor lighting out there these days and I particularly hate flashing lights and blue lights (which imo don't even look Christmassy, just cold. Frozen has a lot to answer for.)

Toastythesnowman · 22/12/2025 12:32

People who are done with their shopping by September.

Adults who are too excited for Christmas in November.

DeafLeppard · 22/12/2025 12:34

+1 for getting rid of Secret Santa.

NuffSaidSam · 22/12/2025 12:34

I'd ban all the hand wringing and angst over where and how people spend Christmas.

Just do what you want!

Ruthietuthie · 22/12/2025 12:34

Any lights that aren't a warm white. Particular negative points for flashing colored lights and for blue and white or red and white. DREADFUL.

SharonEllis · 22/12/2025 12:35

All of the above except christmas trees and turkey Mine is delicious! And yes, yes, yes, the ban on picky bits should be all year!

Needmorelego · 22/12/2025 12:35

Complaining about things they could just actually not do if they don't want to.

Cherrycola4 · 22/12/2025 12:35

Eating meat.

MannersAreAll · 22/12/2025 12:37

People caring about how other people do Christmas stuff.
Be so much better if nobody was bothered by other people's festive ways.

Or shops randomly discontinuing things you normally buy. If this is the last Christmas you are selling cheese in blankets then, looking at you Aldi, there should be a sign so someone could stock up.

🤣
Same every year for 37 years. We have gammon and a turkey crown, because everyone says they’re not keen on turkey, which I love.
Every year without fail, they eat more of it than I do! I’ll go to make a sandwich 2 days later and there’s bugger all left in the foil!

Especially blue ones.

Cards, and the judgement involved.

I you're in my life, however remote, I wish you a lovely Christmas and New year, please don't hate me if I don't buy, write and post little bits I cardboard.

Celynfour · 22/12/2025 12:41

I cldnt choose just one 🤦‍♀️

Huge piles of landfill crap
Flashing lights
1st December boxes
Christmas Eve boxes
Picky bits (any time of year )
Flavoured mince pies
Matchy Christmas trees with no soul

I'm sure there’s more 😂

Iocanepowder · 22/12/2025 12:43

Christmas cards. Cost of stamps doesn’t help.

WHAAAATTT?? This is my Christmas entertainment, nothing better than sitting on the sofa for an hour of an evening on Boxing Day reading all the moaning surely?!

Any form of flashing Christmas lights. I adore Christmas lights but if you have outdoor ones that flash in a seizure inducing manner, I will walk past with scissors and cut the wire in half.

Make sure you use scissors with thick rubber handles, if you don't want to look like the Ready Brek kid when you do it Grin

Flashing blue lights on houses as you're driving along that make you think there's an ambulance needing you to move out the way can get in the bin. As can any kind of red, green or orange lights in any place where they could possibly be confused for traffic lights.

The posts about not getting the gift they wanted.

No Highlights don't be a Grinch. 😁

The Mumsnet threads I REALLY look forward to at Christmas are as follows:

The ridiculous missing items/substitutes from Christmas online shop deliveries

The starvation threads when people are staying with meanie food relatives

And

The weird gifts people have received.

I'm sorry as I know I sound positively evil but I bloody love these threads at Christmas. 🤣

(Speaking of which surely the online deliveries have begun? They can't all be perfect can they? Where are the posts?)

wannanamechange · 22/12/2025 12:44

Any Christmas music apart from carols

ExquisiteDressing · 22/12/2025 12:45

drspouse · 22/12/2025 12:30

This is the Christmas season in fact. Ends 5th Jan.

Well yes, just say Christmas till 12th Night I agree with, but most people seem to think it's over after Boxing Day

EXACTLY TheChosenTwo!

Great minds think alike.👍😁

partylegs · 22/12/2025 12:46

elf on the shelf
christmas eve boxes
adult gifts
the words chrimbo & Betwixtmas & Xmas
expectations of over the top/expensive gifts
christmas cards
photos of christmas food/meals/dinners on SM

CrustyBread1977 · 22/12/2025 12:46

Christmas crackers. Utter waste of money. Also the hats are too small for my big head.

ExquisiteDressing · 22/12/2025 12:48

ChronicallyMum · 22/12/2025 12:29

What the heck is Betwixtmas?!
It took a comical number of attempts to type that out without my phone trying to correct it to something

"Between Christmas and New Year" it seems to have popped up all over the place the last few years (someone will probably come on and explain it has roots in the Middle Ages in a minute but I blame social media).
