Stockings for 18+ children - nuts

Help me understand how this is a thing. My (25yr old) daughter’s boyfriend (31yrs old!) still gets a ‘stocking’ from his mum, even tho he lives with my daughter and won’t see his mum until a few days after. I buy all three of my children lovely presents, including fancy KC boxers etc. that others might consider stocking presents. But the stocking thing, full of tat, we haven’t done since they weren’t children. Is it just me that thinks only children should get stocking presents from Father Christmas?

My brother who is in his 40s gives my mum money every year for her to buy him stocking fillers 😆 He says the stocking is the best part of Christmas.

So you give stocking type presents and that's fine but the same gifts presented in a stocking in continuation of a family tradition is odd? I don't really follow tbh

Tat is a) in the eye of the beholder and b) can't get into a stocking without help.

I will be at my mum's. She and i will have a stocking there. Adult DCs and DH will get their stockings that i have prepared, and one of the DCs partner will also get one.

There is zero tat because i choose to make them that way. You do you but you don't get to yuk someone else's christmas yum.
