Seem to have been constantly deep cleaning all week and sorting presents. However, getting there.

Currently waiting for final Xmas presents to be delivered, so I can finish off wrapping presents.

I still have our old neighbour to visit, which I sort of include this in the prep as it's usually done inbetween jobs.

Clean laminate in extension.

Will clean bathroom and hoover today/tomorrow with a view to a quick go over next week.

Food shopping later, so I'll get a few things like breadsticks, cheeses, then the rest on Monday.

Oh I still have a few stocking treats to buy - I got some today but a few more to get :)

Well, I got lost of what I should have done here, except I didn’t change my sheets. But towels and rest of laundry is all done, bins emptied, no washing up left to do etc. Although I have just remembered a sealed bag of baby spinach has been left in the fridge, which will probably fester by my return.

I am now in the airport (after a stressful trip here) feeling fragile but it looks like flight is on time.

I expect to have a bunch of shopping jobs to do tomorrow, possibly accompanied by DD. I know I have a lot of (all the) wrapping to do and 1 parcel to post. I may also take a drive on Wednesday to deliver another few (about 2 hours away) - if all is well at home. Or deliver those after Christmas instead. I need to get a birthday card.

Decided I'd gone too far this morning when I washed the washing machine.

Realised that even without star anise Jamie Oliver does not know good gravy. Into the freezer that's gone for another time.

Realised yesterday that I forgot to order replacement glasses, so we don't have enough crystal flutes for everyone. Shall have to drink the bubbly on Christmas morning out of the knock-offs. Suspect we'll survive.

Final batch of mince pies cooked, wine mulled, house clean. Kids home from Granny's tomorrow. Time to enjoy it! Merry Christmas everyone.

Finished the food shopping today. Just started making flapjacks, then will make a brownie. Tomorrow, chocolate lava cake, rice crispy cake, cornflake cake. Then will decorate dining room and set table.

Then we are going out for dinner in the evening. Have a horrible feeling I’ve forgotten something…

Thankfully for the first year in about the last 5, we’re not hosting. I’ve got a chest infection and I’m behind with so much and cleaning the house from top to bottom is so far down in our priorities
We both finish work tomorrow and DH is currently doing some jobs cleaning round and sorting out the fridge ready for tomorrow’s Tesco shop (I’m shamelessly in a red hot bath) and we’re going to M&S after work to pick up fresh and some treats.
I’m waiting on a few deliveries inc DH main gift and still have about 50% of things to wrap but I’m staring to feel better this evening so hopefully I can crack on with that during my lunch hour tomorrow.

Handful of gifts to wrap.
Christmas food shop coming tomorrow, also going to a couple of shops for different food bits unavailable from there.
Other than that I’m done!

Augustone · 22/12/2025 21:38

*Write list for DH and DS to get through on Christmas Eve while I am at work e.g lay table for Christmas dinner and DS will make his awesome cheesecake (then he can go to the pub).
*I will call at Tesco on my way into work for fresh bread and salad stuff then that’s it!

house is cleaned and decorated and food shop done so that’s it!

HippyChickMama · 22/12/2025 21:41

I’ve just got over a nasty virus, so feel really behind but am thankfully on leave now. Still a load of presents to wrap, a cake to ice and the house is a tip. Dh is currently upstairs tackling some of the wrapping and I’ll do the rest tomorrow. The dc and I will go out tomorrow morning for a McDonald’s breakfast and to buy pastries for Christmas Day breakfast before doing a top to bottom clean and changing the beds and then visit my grandparents to drop off their gifts, and then Christmas Eve we’ll do food prep in the morning while dh is at work

FeeLipa · 22/12/2025 22:20

Just cleaning here.

Everything is wrapped, and food shop completed.

Unfortunately dog is in season, and not a small girlie. Blood everywhere on floors and up walls. It's like cleaning an ongoing crime scene.

clary · 22/12/2025 23:40

I thought I was all good, then I realised that DS2 (sporty gym fan) coming home from uni for Christmas, while great, also means that I need exponentially more in the way of bread rolls, cold cuts, salad, fruit, milk, which I had somehow failed to account for. Need to go back to the shop tomorrow in consequence.

Butcher first thing for sausages and DH's pork pie for Chr morning (don’t ask) so will grab some DS2 food then.

It’s a Wonderful Life tomorrow night (Christmas tradition). Aaaaand relax. (tho I am at work Chr Eve morning!)

MrsSkylerWhite · 22/12/2025 23:41

Clean the flat, buy more wine 😁

BiddyPopthe2nd · 24/12/2025 15:10

I have made progress so I am down to wrapping and prepping veg. DD may want to go to the off licence while we are out getting coffee shortly (she’s 19 and recently wheelchair bound so can’t get herself around to buy presents, this is for DH).

But the fire is set, ready to light. I have bought some wine (more expensive than usual as we will be limited on consumption to 1 large glass each - to manage DD if needed). I have also bought the sparkling water DH keeps forgetting to get. And I have acquired the birthday cake and card for DD.

I possibly should do some visiting later, but I am inclined to leave it until tomorrow.
