Seem to have been constantly deep cleaning all week and sorting presents. However, getting there.

Currently waiting for final Xmas presents to be delivered, so I can finish off wrapping presents.

I still have our old neighbour to visit, which I sort of include this in the prep as it's usually done inbetween jobs.

Clean laminate in extension.

Will clean bathroom and hoover today/tomorrow with a view to a quick go over next week.

Food shopping later, so I'll get a few things like breadsticks, cheeses, then the rest on Monday.

Just finished the wrapping
Dec's are done
Done the big shop
Haven't done cards this year
Only thing left to do is Fresh bits on Tuesday and to give the house a good clean tomorrow

shellyleppard · 19/12/2025 21:18

A few presents still to wrap. Got my veggie from Aldi today so all ready. Collect the Christmas dinner from the butchers on Christmas eve

OrangeBlossomsinthesun · 19/12/2025 21:19

I have done nothing except put up a tree and buy two presents on amazon, one of which has arrived.
Will get the rest this weekend and early next week. But some food next week. That's about it.
It's not a huge deal for us.

Raisondeetre · 19/12/2025 21:20

Clean the house throughly. Tidy guest bedrooms. Buy Xmas food and food for next few days. Wash sheets and bath mats and get dry. Clear out car.

me24x · 19/12/2025 21:21

Clean my whole house!!
food shopping - I’ve got a Waitrose collection on xmas eve morning with cheeses / meats etc on then a big Sainsbury’s one to be delivered but I think I’ll cancel this as worried about substitutions and go on the eve of 23rd instead.
stocking fillers for kids
Costco run for drinks
Get presents for nephews

Writing it down makes me realise how much I have left to do!!

TheWoollybacksWife · 19/12/2025 21:27

Not much.

Pick up a click and collect shop on Tuesday. Pick up the meat from the butcher also on Tuesday. Quick hoover round downstairs and a mop of the kitchen floor. Finish embroidering a dinner napkin - I did the others last year but I've got an extra guest this year.

SeashellsAndDaffodils · 19/12/2025 21:28

Food shop (fresh bits)
clean the house properly, I’ve been doing random bits and bobs all week but doesn’t feel like enough
order placemats/tablecloth (not had any before as new to having our own house)
cards for dd and dp
fake Christmas tomorrow with friends
working til midday Christmas Eve so need to get my shit together on everything else tbh

Redredwiner · 19/12/2025 21:29

We have a traditional spruce we got it on 6th December and whilst it's very thirsty it's still in perfect condition. I'm curious what kind of tree would only last a week or so?

CharlotteCChapel · 19/12/2025 21:33

Wrap presents for DH and DS1.
Make stollen as today's attempt failed dismally, made a nice but it was far to wet for a stollen.
Final shopping for non perishables
Mince pies , going to make my own pastry.

GasperyJacquesRoberts · 19/12/2025 21:33

I've got to do a final clean and bake a pile of mince pies (Saturday/Sunday), wrap the last of the presents (Sunday/Monday) and get the turkey and veg (Monday). And I need to fit that in with going to London for a night out on Saturday and a hospital appointment on Monday.

Oh and I need to get a present for DS's housemate who I wouldn't usually worry about but who will be there on Christmas day so I can't just ignore. Hmm. Arrgh!

It's at moments like this that I feel a strong urge to claim I've suddenly come down with covid/flu/plague and spend the entire Christmas period under the duvet.

MrsMitford3 · 19/12/2025 21:35

So much.

Feeling much less on top than in previous years.

So today I decided to make dark choc bark with maraschino cherries instead of cleaning and changing beds.

I stand with my decision.

MrsMitford3 · 19/12/2025 21:37

Sorry- so busy I forgot picture

I didn't MN won't post as "sensitive image".

Craftysue · 19/12/2025 21:46

I've been unwell for the last 2 weeks and I'm starting to panic. I've wrapped nothing, not done any food shopping the house is a tip and I'm working all day tomorrow and Monday. 😬

caniaffordit · 19/12/2025 21:53

Laundry, loads of it. Clean the house, partinstgeos and stairs and windows. Sort online good shop. Wrap have a dozen presents, mostly they are fine. Work half a day Monday and Tuesday, and then prep the food Wednesday afternoon. Coffee and a walk with friends Wednesday morning, so very little time left.
obviously alongside all the normal house and cooking and childcare duties.

Drinking

Amiunemployable · 19/12/2025 22:22

Got two more kids stockings to wrap. But three out of five so far isn't bad!

Wrapped all presents from us for kids, relatives, etc.

Need to shop for a couple more presents for DH.

Food all in and ready to go. Had a final delivery today. Tried Asda for a change and impressed as not a single sub.

Loads of cleaning to do though!

Goinggreymammy · 19/12/2025 23:14

I love that people are doing trees now. My fake tree is up since Dec 1st and honestly its too long (although kids were dying for it). I was telling them today how we used to decorate the day school broke up and they were horrified.

I have some everyday cleaning and dusting, and shopping for hosting Christmas day. That's it I think. Will do a few little outings with the family (free moving crib, charity music session, visit park to see deer) over the next few days but overall I feel ready. Ask me again on Wednesday!!!

caringcarer · 20/12/2025 00:30

I've done part of Xmas shop today. I got streaky bacon to go on turkey crown but not getting crown until Monday morning. I bought a huge piece of beef for Xmas day. 3 packs of pigs in blankets, and 2 packets of sausages meat. I bought potatoes, carrots, sprouts, parsnips and swede. I have a delivery booked on 24th with mostly chocolate and nice snacks bits I didn't want in house sooner as I didn't trust myself not to nibble. I have bought most gifts now but just need to take DC to buy their gifts for family tomorrow. DH has to get more wine, rum and some ciders and beers tomorrow as well as soft drinks cans and mixers. I got 3 rolls of 8 metres of wrapping paper today. I've posted MiL a lovely Xmas card because she likes a nice card. The main job left is the one I always leave to last because I'm not good at it and neither is DH as we don't like wrapping up the gifts. We do it 23rd and 24th and reward ourselves with much wine, Malteasers and Xmas movies to get us through.

caringcarer · 20/12/2025 00:33

Tankfully cleaner coming on Monday for 2 hours and has agreed to do an extra hour, so 3 hours this week as she's has a few cancellations. DH always preps all vegetables Xmas Eve in evening for us. I prep turkey crown Xmas Eve with streaky bacon and I make sausage meat and stuffing balls Xmas Eve whilst DH does vegetables.

Grumpynan · 20/12/2025 00:41

I can’t believe how sorted I am. I’ve been ill for the last 3 weeks and still not 100% but with ordering on line and doing a few jobs at a time I’m getting there. DH has done all the decorating and the wrapping presents was a joint job this year I normally love todo it but this year it was to much on my own

still got the last fresh bits of shopping to get DH will get that for probably Tuesday.

i still haven’t made any mince pies but the cakes iced and I’ve done 50 sausage rolls in the freezer and 100 devils that will have todo.

i need to clean the best silver cutlery and press the table cloth and napkins. The cleaner is coming in all day Tuesday so she will clean through and do anything else I haven’t managed. The spare beds will need making up , but my DD and DILs will do that for me if I ask them..

DH still isn’t convinced I will be up to doing Christmas, but I’m determined that somehow it will happen might just need a little more help than normal this year.

RescueMeFromThisSilliness · 20/12/2025 00:44

Presents to be wrapped and posted for relatives we aren't seeing now.

More stuff to be bought for immediate family and I now need to re-jig the food we need as we now have a 100% increase in people here on Boxing Day, and DH has rather unwisely invited other people round on both the Saturday and Sunday afterwards. Gee thanks.

I also need to buy an iced Christmas cake from somewhere. Forgot all about that until about an hour ago. I might try Sainsburys in the morning.

There's also a humungous amount of clutter everywhere in the house that needs sorting, I've yet to assemble the Nativity scene in the hearth, and the laundry basket on the landing is full to overflowing...

If that's to me - we leave ours up till 12th night, so even putting it up yesterday, it's got to last 2aand a half weeks. If I put it up on 6 Dec it would need to last a month which feels unlikely. Also it's huuugee
