Uneven amount of gifts! Help me

I’ve gone and done it again…dd12 has 30 gifts and ds10 has 23 😅

I need to balance it out. (and no, I don’t want to take away seven of hers)

so far I’ve thought of
a rubix cube
a plain chocolate orange( I had an order age one but forgot he doesn’t like orange flavour!)
a fidget toy of some sort

hit me with ideas please…nothing too big and no major tat. I like useful gifts.

What does he need? Socks? Underwear? School stationery supplies? Sports gear?

Take seven from DD and keep them for their birthday. Problem solved.

Please read the OP

My 12 year old son really wants a 3d pen. Not sure if they are any good but Amazon can do next day delivery.

We had one a couple of years ago and it was a waste of money IMO. Not sure if they’ve changed since but it was super fiddly and don’t really do what it was supposed to.

lynx spray set
headtorch
pack of phone charging cables
portable charger for phone
phone case
new school bag
pencil case
portable table tennis that can be used on a kitchen table (amazon have them)
led light up shoe laces

Boudy · 18/12/2025 20:33

Tamagotchi! I am still tempted to get for adult sons..but I won't. They might be quite pricey though..but the new ones sound so fab!

MagicStarrz · 18/12/2025 20:33

You don't need to even out

ElleintheWoods · 18/12/2025 20:41

Is this actually a usual/ normal amount of presents to receive for a child?

I’d have thought anything over 5 would be highly unusual?

RosesAndHellebores · 18/12/2025 20:43

Baby Jesus
Mary
Joseph
The three wise men
The three shepherds
Crib
Donkey
Oxen
Book about the meaning of the birth of Jesus/Christmas

10 for your son = 33; 3 for your dd = 33.

Are you and your DH called Mr and Mrs Dursley?

Hairymaryfairy · 18/12/2025 20:50

I don't care if they don't have equal amount of gifts cause I would have spent the same even if someone's pile is smaller.

Fidget pen
3d pen thing
Books
Cards

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 18/12/2025 21:01

Dobble.

Roosch · 18/12/2025 21:04

I know this is not the question but ….. this sounds like an insanely excessive amount of presents?! what do you do with all these items in your house?

JudgeBread · 18/12/2025 21:09

ImALargeAbsentMindedSpirit · 18/12/2025 18:19

I did read it. I’m just suggesting the solution because it’s
a. less stressful
b. Cheaper
c. Fairness over excess
d. Not overindulging
e Reducing clutter
f focus 9n the meaning of Christmas rather than quantity of gifts
g they’re presumably getting gifts from others too
h simpler option

Consider being more condescending next time, I don't think your tone here is nearly sneery and self righteous enough.

Aimtodobetter · 18/12/2025 21:10

FYI I think a plain chocolate orange is dark chocolate instead of milk but is still orange flavoured.

Well some are clothing so eventually get grown out of, some are foods…so they’ll be gone, some is make up,perfume, bath bombs etc so again they will run out.
lego gets made and put on a shelf or Lego box
books…go on a book shelf.

is he quite crafty? my son when he was younger loved clay-he made some really good stuff, watched vids on youtube and copied them

MyCatPrefersPeaches · 18/12/2025 21:22

OP, I have a ten year old. Small things he likes include fidget toys, and I have also ordered him a spy pen, which allows you to write invisible messages and shine a light on them to reveal them.

Moonshine86 · 18/12/2025 21:24

3d pen from Argos?

Fatgirlslimmingit · 18/12/2025 21:25

More or less game
Puzzle or sudoku book
Bath bomb or bubble bath
Something hobby related - football socks, swimming goggles, tennis balls etc
Wallet
Gibbets if he has crocs

purpleme12 · 18/12/2025 21:31

I don't get this
Do you just get the same number of presents for them both then?
Not just spend the same amount on each?

I mean they're old enough to know some things cost more than others anyway

No the amount I spend is within the same bracket usually 600-700. But I like it to look the same too.
