The best bit of Christmas for me is seeing people open the presents, I was hugely excited for the interactive dinosaur globe I found for my dad to give my great nephew (and thankfully he loved it) and I am hoping BIL is blown away by his vintage Snoopy lamp.

I'm also quite looking forward to seeing what people think of a couple of the homemade gifts but there's always a tinge of nervousness for them too 😥

Sadly DH scuppered his main gift idea by handing me two (expensive) wrenches and telling me I could wrap them for him so will have to wait for his birthday for what I had planned - at least I know he'll like the wrenches though!

My eldest is getting his first phone, and my youngest is getting her first proper bike. Neither of them have any idea and I can't wait to see their faces on Christmas morning ☺️

From a relative, my eldest is also getting an experience at a local wildlife centre with one of his favourite animals in the new year. He's going to be besides himself. Sadly my youngest isn't old enough to do the same just yet - hopefully she'll be too busy zooming around the garden on the new bike to notice 😂

Really excited for this one. Think it's going to be magical.

Ds (20 on Christmas Day) is getting his own welder. I cannot wait! He’s going to be beside himself. For his birthday I’m also really excited about a fancy leather belt we’ve got him which he will also love.
Dd would only give a list of books to pick from when pressed for ideas so she’ll be really pleased with everything but probably especially her fleecy oodie dressing gown (to wear when reading her ten new books!).

A framed tour poster of my sister’s favourite band ever who reformed to raptures this year x

My DD is a book lover. A few years ago she took up pottery as a hobby and then was able to secure a job in a pottery. I found her a lovely book called The Healing Season of Pottery bt Yeon Somin. She will love it and best of all I will be there when she opens it.

I’ve got DD7 a cameo video from the main guys from Bros in Control on CBBC. My daughter is obsessed with the programme and she’s going to lose her mind when she sees the video! I can’t wait for her to watch it and to see her face.
I also got DH some timberlands this year. He needs new boots and never buys himself anything ever, so really looking forward to him seeing that he has some decent ones that will last a while!

Hope everyone got some lovely reactions to their gifts! Dd1 is made up with her new phone and dd2 loves her cork board, she raced off to put all her pins in. Had a few random gifts they loved too. Dd1 got a set of art pencils and has been colouring in the Swatch sheet for an hour.

That's great to hear. We had tears for one homemade present and I think the lamp was really appreciated. The other one i think will be hugely loved won't be opened until tomorrow.

Best of all though MIL engaged with opening everything and has been persuaded to wear her new jumper and was delighted with the biscuit selection. Neither of which are from us but getting a positive reaction and no meltdown over guests for dinner is the best present the rest of us could have got.

Especially after being up till bloody 4am last night with her.

I hope everyone has made some lovely memories today, gift relatd or not.

The Gamesmasters book went down really well but in fact the Ian Leslie Beatles book was the one that got cries of joy 🤩

Got my 15 year old niece a tool set and a soldering iron kit. She'll love them.

Cornishmumofone · 25/12/2025 22:51

DD was delighted with her doll and spent most of the day playing with it 😊

A couple of silly ones. A Pingu pin badge for adult DS’s stocking, it may beat the Pokémon cufflinks from a few years ago.

A plush mermaids tail for DGD(7). She has several oodie type tops that she likes but I can see her getting cosy with it as well as pretending to be a fish- she’s one of those kids that just likes rolling around on the floor.

Edited

As predicted, she loves it!

My dd got one of these last year, it’s still used every day.

How lovely, it seemed like a very indulgent present but I think it is going to be enjoyed for a long time and you’ve just reinforced that 😊

Everything, I love buying presents and gifting, I mostly love watching my DCs open everything. I think the most exciting will be what they don’t know about or suspect.

DD1 - Juicy couture tracksuit, earrings and perfume, also a jacket and a couple of extras from Hollister that I told her I couldn’t afford. I’ve also got a mix of beauty and skincare there are a couple of items she’s going to love.

DD2 - Sabrina Carpenter Funko Pop, Juicy Couture velour jacket, Pandora Stranger Things earrings, White Fox hoodie and some hair products she will love.

DD3 - a book about penguin poo! Big girl school handbag like her big sisters, Zoey from K-pop demon hunters Funko Pop and 99 nights in the forest reindeer.

Very happy I called everything right. I did miss off kinder joys, my dd loves them and stranger things, I managed to get some stranger things ones which she proceeded to eat and put the toys together before looking at anything else. She joked Christmas Eve she’d be happy as long as she had kinder joys.

It actually made me so proud and happy that I captured the perfect moment on video, all 3 DDs squealing and excited about what they had in their hands, literally the first things they opened kinder joys, £1.50 false eyelashes from primark and a cheap sketchbook and crayons from homebargins. All the expensive stuff I bought didn’t matter, well until they opened it then they loved that just as much, but still have that perfect moment captured.

I appreciate this is now an old thread but DS adores his wind-up radio, he's been carrying it everywhere by its strap rather like a child carries a teddy bear by the ear! A roaring success.

On a related matter, I contacted the local radio station he listens to before Christmas and asked if there was any chance they could ask his favourite presenter to send him a Christmas card (I have a friend whose husband works in local radio in a different part of the country and I know they do this.) They went one better than that and sent him a video message recorded by said presenter who has invited him in to the studios in the new year! The whole staff team have been amazing, asking me how best to achieve the best experience for my DS, keeping it calm and not overwhelming him etc. Honestly the best Christmas gift he could have had.

Thanks to @Moonlightfrog @WeightLossGoal2024 and all who gave my post a ❤
