The best bit of Christmas for me is seeing people open the presents, I was hugely excited for the interactive dinosaur globe I found for my dad to give my great nephew (and thankfully he loved it) and I am hoping BIL is blown away by his vintage Snoopy lamp.

I'm also quite looking forward to seeing what people think of a couple of the homemade gifts but there's always a tinge of nervousness for them too 😥

Sadly DH scuppered his main gift idea by handing me two (expensive) wrenches and telling me I could wrap them for him so will have to wait for his birthday for what I had planned - at least I know he'll like the wrenches though!

For me it’s something very niche that cost £4 from a charity shop for DD. I couldn’t believe it when I found it! I think she’ll love it (she is getting something much more expensive that she’ll also love but I hope this will be something she’ll treasure).

Those kinds of presents are always my favs to give, the little ones that show you really know someone and you now they'll love and never expect. I don't really have any of those this year. Forgot me and dd2 managed to get dd1s fav jellycat that's been out of stock for ages, went pretty much straight back out of stock too so she will be made up and very surprised.

My chemical romance tickets for my DD. She has also asked for socks and a 'bird purse'. I could not find a 'bird purse' that met the requirements but have bought some bird socks, so hopefully she'll be happy. Also I have bought a fancy bean to cup coffee machine as a joint present for the family

gemdrop84 · 13/12/2025 08:45

I found on Vinted, (for an absolute bargain, still can't quite believe I got a genuine one), brand new in box Wall-E Lego set (the cute little robot from the Pixar film). I can't wait to give it to DS, who is much older now but still loves Wall-E!

A book called Gamesmasters for dp - learned about it in a post on here and ordered it 6 months ago. It’s a graphic history of role playing games. My dp is 59 and has been playing those games since the early 80s, along with fellow nerds, including playing games by post back in the day, long before gaming was anything other than considered a thing for kids and weirdos. It will be his own history in a way. Can’t wait.

Yes, exactly! My bow tie is probably the cheapest gift we’re getting her, but it’s by far and away the most special.

DS is getting a Pokémon card set that sold out almost instantly so he’s assumes I didn’t get. I have also find an obscure piece of merchandise for an anime he loves which will blow his mind. I’m not sure I understand it but he will 😁

happytobemrsg · 13/12/2025 21:46

We’re getting DS9 a switch 2 and I am SO excited. He’s also getting loads of accessories like the camera & pro controller from family members. He’s also getting the Sonic Shadow game with a matching squishmallow!

DS6’s main gift is an indoor Wendy House. We’re setting it up Christmas Eve, putting a navy space themed fleece on the floor, star fairy lights along the ceiling & going to fill it with his space teddies. He is going to absolutely love it!

Another gift I’m looking forward to give are white dove Christmas tree decorations. I bought a set of 4 from The White Company and I’m splitting them between, me, mum mum & my two sisters. I like the idea of us all using the decorations each year.

My DD(13) told me months ago that a very specific Victoria’s Secret scarf that she had seen on TikTok was top of her Christmas wishlist. At the time it was only available in the US so we just said we would have to hope it comes over to the UK before Christmas.

Anyway, she seemed to move on…until last weekend when she went a bit mad trying to find it and claiming it was the ONLY thing she REALLY wanted for Christmas! This was quickly followed by the deepest disappointment to discover that it had been released here and had very quickly sold old everywhere and we had missed our chance to get it 😭

Only…we didn’t! I had snapped it up as soon as it was released over here and she has no idea! It was actually a lovely MN-er who helped me enormously in response to a thread I had previously posted about said scarf, messaging me privately to give me a heads-up that it had been released. Very grateful to her and I can’t wait to see my DD’s face when she sees the scarf she has her heart set on but believes is impossible to buy anywhere!!

For 6yo DD it's the Disney Angel animotronic, the pink one from Stitch. It's an interactive robot plush.

8yo DS - smash and crash Grave Digger remote control stunt truck from Monster Jam. He's autistic and obsessed with Grave Digger, he's been asking for it all year.

4yo DS - Bluey house and accompanying play set.

OH - a nice winter coat

As for me - I know OH has got me a handbag and I'm fairly sure it's a vintage Mulberry 'Roxanne' that I fell in love with but couldn't justify buying for myself 🥹

TrickyD · 14/12/2025 08:25

Those AirPod things that track your lost luggage for the DGCs as they are starting to travel a lot.

A set of DIY tools made very realistically from chocolate. DH is known as xxxxtheBodger as he is so useless. He will be heartily amused.

BeefAndHorseradishSandwich · 14/12/2025 08:29

DS has already had his main present (a pair of boots) but he was absolutely beaming when he sent me a picture of himself wearing them 😃 😃 I’d been looking forward to that for a while. I also have a tradition of giving DH and DSS a matching Tshirt which they wear under their new matching varsity jackets (we bought them in America this year) Looking forward to them opening the t shirts I bought. Obviously DH has seen his varsity jacket but DSS hasn’t seen his but I’m sure he’ll love it.

Not really anything yet, I’ve not been concentrating on Christmas enough!
although dc1 is going to love the sylvanian families keyring that she spotted. She is 21 and still charmed by utter crap 😂

Do you have a link to the keyring please @TheChosenTwo? Thanks

This summer my Autistic DS18 discovered a local radio station he really likes. He really struggles with any sort of social interaction & doesn’t have any friends, so the radio has become a surrogate friend, he can listen to the presenters & chat back to them in his room.

He’s also petrified of the dark.

A few weeks ago we had a power cut. It only went on from around 10pm - 1am but the lack of proper light & the lack of radio really upset him.

The next morning I had the bright idea (pun intended 😀) of buying him a wind up torch/radio. Managed to get a really good one on Black Friday.

I can’t wait to see him open it & compute that if it ever happens again he’ll feel safe with a bright light & his ‘friends’ on the radio that won’t have disappeared 🥲

cardpin · 14/12/2025 10:02

I have been buying bits for DS(11) stocking since January, everything he picks up and puts down in a shop or things he says 'oh cool' to on adverts, or 'that chocolate looks nice' etc. I wrapped as we went so I've forgotten a lot of them, but I just know he'll be over the moon to open it. He's obviously got much larger gifts but I cannot wait to see him open his stocking gifts

mondaytosunday · 14/12/2025 10:09

I remember the disappointment of my PILs when they gave my son a microscope which he was very meh about (he was about 7/8). It was surprisingly generous of them and it included some sort of link so you could see the image on a screen. Anyhoo my son never even took it out of the box, despite me saying I’d help him use it. I’ve also trawled places for the ‘perfect’ present only to be met with bemusement! Hope you get more enthusiastic responses!

IHopeYouStepOnALegPiece · 16/12/2025 20:24

Um, a tub of peanut Satay sauce 😂

I'm doing Christmas with a friend who moved away to another country and the only thing she misses from here is our local Thai's homemade satay sauce, she has tried to replicate it so many times but its never quite right (turns out there's a secret ingredient!) and she mentions it weekly. So there are 2l frozen and ready to be packed and the restaurant have VERY kindly given her the recipe (with the promise that she doesn't open a restaurant there 😁)

Duvetdayforme · 16/12/2025 20:52

I am most excited to see DIL open one of her presents from me. It’s a jigsaw and the picture is an incredibly cute photo of her with DS. I know she will love it and I can’t wait to see her little face light up!

I am very jealous of those with MCR tickets ❤️

eone · 16/12/2025 20:53

DP is convinced that I’ve hidden his favourite T-shirt. Honestly, I have no idea where it is, but I can’t say I’m too upset. It was very worn and faded, yet he refused to part with it.

Since it’s gone missing, I’ve bought him the exact same one, brand new. It took a bit of detective work to figure out the make, but I managed it. I can’t wait to give it to him! Grin

PermanentTemporary · 16/12/2025 20:59

Oh wow @CoffeeChocolateWine! I hope at least some of us will report back how it went on this thread ☺️

Moonlightfrog · 16/12/2025 21:01

I have got my best friend something from a charity shop that he mentioned he wanted a while ago (something we saw whilst in a weird coffee shop). I can’t say what it is but it is just something that cost £10, I know he will love it.

I haven’t really got any ‘wow’ items for my own dc this year, there wasn’t much they wanted, I am a bit worried they will be underwhelmed but they are young adults now.

Love this. My dd is 19, autistic and loves listening to music and the radio. Last year her dad bought her the Hotwires kit to make her own radio (he picked it up at a car boot sale), it was probably one of her best gifts. She would love a wind up radio too, the electric going out really upsets her….almost as much as the smoke alarm going off. I am sure your ds will love the wind up radio.

WolfFoxHare · 16/12/2025 21:08

A hoverboard with go-cart attachment for DS. And I have facilitated DS getting a Hellfire Club t-shirt just like his own for DH to wear. Not sure how much DH will love it but DE is very excited about them having matching tops, and I know DH will be happy to humour him.

WorriedMillie · 16/12/2025 21:15

A DVD I’ve had converted from cine film of a significant event from almost 60 years ago. The recipient doesn’t even know the film still exists. Lots of memories, lots of lost loved ones featured, there will be tears ❤️

MrsWobble4 · 16/12/2025 21:27

I’m pretty sure the present causing the greatest excitement this year will be the catnip mice for our cats. Assuming dh gets some more to replace the ones they’ve already found and destroyed. I told him not to leave them lying around.

I bought my dd one from Urban Outfitters
