The best bit of Christmas for me is seeing people open the presents, I was hugely excited for the interactive dinosaur globe I found for my dad to give my great nephew (and thankfully he loved it) and I am hoping BIL is blown away by his vintage Snoopy lamp.

I'm also quite looking forward to seeing what people think of a couple of the homemade gifts but there's always a tinge of nervousness for them too 😥

Sadly DH scuppered his main gift idea by handing me two (expensive) wrenches and telling me I could wrap them for him so will have to wait for his birthday for what I had planned - at least I know he'll like the wrenches though!

DH and DD are both massively into Lego. I've got them both sets that they loved but thought would be way too expensive to put on their Christmas lists; I've saved and budgeted and I am SO excited for their faces on Christmas morning 🥹

I've also bought DD some duvet covers; sounds silly but I'm excited for her to twig that they don't fit her current bed and so she'll be getting the loft bed she's been desperate for ❤️

My 14 month old is obsessed with shopping trolleys at supermarkets and putting things in baskets. I can't wait to give her a toy shopping trolley for Xmas and see her push it all round the house all day!

IndigoIsMyFavouriteColour · 16/12/2025 21:53

We have bought three new board games for the kids and us to enjoy. I can’t wait to gift them and play with them!

ThatNaiceMember · 16/12/2025 21:54

My 17 year old asked me for the most ugly plushie I've ever seen. I rejected her request to her but did actually buy it. She'll be so pleased, odd child 🤣

Rucksacks that my boys have been drooling and saving for.

silly stocking treats that they love the most

Mathsdebator · 16/12/2025 22:23

Got ds tickets for Nathan Evans' festival in Edinburgh for the summer. It'll cost us a bomb in hotels, ne and DH will hate it but ds will LOVE it!

Kickinthenostalgia · 16/12/2025 22:40

Dd13 also asked for the Chelsea 3rd kit, managed to finally get one (As a last minute gift) and got discount, got it with her fave player on (Niamh Charles) so she’s gonna be ecstatic because the last Chelsea shirt she got they didn’t have Charles available. She’s defo gonna scream 😂

DD9 has asked for an American Girl doll for the last two Christmases. It’s top of her list again this year… but not just any doll, specifically Kit Kittredge. We can’t afford an AG doll, but the specific one DD asked for came up on Facebook marketplace in immaculate condition with a key accessory. I was also able to find the matching miniature doll and 4 second-hand associated books, so I’ve wrapped them all up in lovely tissue paper in a fancy box. I know that DD will be overjoyed by this present as it’s something she’s been so desperate to have.

This made me all 🥹. I’m so happy you found it and I hope your daughter had an amazing Christmas.

I think there will be tears when my Mum opens her main present this year. I having her wedding video (VHS previously transferred from cine film 30 years ago) to DVD. Dad died seven years ago and was usually the other side of the camera growing up. Probably best watched a few days after Christmas due to flood risk.

I’m pretty sure the present causing the greatest excitement this year will be the catnip mice for our cats. Assuming dh gets some more to replace the ones they’ve already found and destroyed. I told him not to leave them lying around.

noses and claws are a dangerous combo :D we have a special tin box for the catnip meeces stash as its the only thing that defeats their ability to open cupboards/drawers/packaging and liberate the whole lot then lie there stoned but happy 🙀

We've got one of our dc a gaming PC. He's currently saving his birthday and Christmas money to buy one, which will take him a few years as he's only 12. I can't wait to see his reaction.

I got my partner tickets to the UK snooker final in York for next December.

Everything, I love buying presents and gifting, I mostly love watching my DCs open everything. I think the most exciting will be what they don’t know about or suspect.

DD1 - Juicy couture tracksuit, earrings and perfume, also a jacket and a couple of extras from Hollister that I told her I couldn’t afford. I’ve also got a mix of beauty and skincare there are a couple of items she’s going to love.

DD2 - Sabrina Carpenter Funko Pop, Juicy Couture velour jacket, Pandora Stranger Things earrings, White Fox hoodie and some hair products she will love.

DD3 - a book about penguin poo! Big girl school handbag like her big sisters, Zoey from K-pop demon hunters Funko Pop and 99 nights in the forest reindeer.

DS 7 is autistic and loves teddies a lot and gets incredibly attached to them. He has a particular YouTuber that he watches who happens to have a teddy as part of his merch. Unfortunately this Teddy is only sold on the YouTubers website and cost $70 to buy and ship over! As a last resort I asked on a Facebook group if anyone had one they could sell me at a more reasonable price and the next door one arrived brand new with tags which I bought for £10! A very kind women saw my post and her son had the exact teddy I wanted never played with and she said it’s mine for £10! I was gobsmacked but I can’t wait to see my little boys face Christmas morning!

I did a pottery class recently and made a jigsaw shaped cheese board for my mam - it really is beautiful and I know she will love it

This summer my Autistic DS18 discovered a local radio station he really likes. He really struggles with any sort of social interaction & doesn’t have any friends, so the radio has become a surrogate friend, he can listen to the presenters & chat back to them in his room.

He’s also petrified of the dark.

A few weeks ago we had a power cut. It only went on from around 10pm - 1am but the lack of proper light & the lack of radio really upset him.

The next morning I had the bright idea (pun intended 😀) of buying him a wind up torch/radio. Managed to get a really good one on Black Friday.

I can’t wait to see him open it & compute that if it ever happens again he’ll feel safe with a bright light & his ‘friends’ on the radio that won’t have disappeared 🥲

@NoExchangeBeforeChristmasThen beautiful

My niece really wants a horse but her parents won't buy her one (understandable!) So I've bought her a voucher for a "own a pony day" at a local riding school.

I used to have a horse so I'm looking forward to taking her and I hope she will love it.

Although my brother may throw the Turkey at me of it leads to increased nagging about wanting a horse 🤣

Laufey tickets for DD

We are going to give DS Laufey tickets for Xmas too! He thinks he has to pay us back for them but he’s a skint student.

housethatbuiltme · 18/12/2025 12:42

I'm excited for basically everything I'm giving my youngest 2, they will love it all. My youngest this is the first year she really understands and shes been excited all month talking about Santa and Christmas day. My middle child is just the most enthusiastic and excitable child ever anyway.

My oldest, more worried than excited... its such a boring, practical and small pile but he just doesn't want or need anything.

He Autistic and he likes the idea of 'surprises' and loves 'unwrapping' stuff but doesn't actually ever use anything after unwrapping them. He just uses the same couple of things over and over again even if they are falling apart even if he has new replacements so he is just very hard to buy for. He basically a natural minimalist but wants the 'experience' of Christmas but non of the actual stuff lol.

We are taking our two daughters aged 4 and 6 to Disneyland Paris on Christmas Day Evening. They have no idea. It’s been booked for over a year. I can’t wait to see their faces when they unwrap the boxes I’ve made for them with the ears, princess dresses etc and realise.

We gave out little teddies on a key ring as return gifts for kids' birthday earlier this year. I still have a few left in a box to give to other kids when needed. Ds3 recently found that box and lost his little heart to a little grey mouse. He asked me if he could have it and i said no as they already have a few of them and I don't want them to get more clutter randomly. So he's been asking me if he could have it for his birthday. I said yes and every few days he reminds me to give him the mouse on his birthday (Which is a long long time away). Anyway im going to give it to him for christmas and I've got a feeling it will be his smallest but most favourite present.

Im also very excited about the presents ds is going to give his older sister. He bought something really adorable with his own money and made a super funny picture for her. She is usually very enthusiastic about amy presents he gives her but I think she will genuinely love these.

Mulledvines · 18/12/2025 22:46

I hope ive gifted DW a less stressful christmas

My DW lost her deeply loved DF last week and has been knee deep in the practicality of sorting the house, funeral stuff. Shes been up with Dmil but fretting about christmas. She loves christmas, and has been worried about "failing it"

I've managed to mostly sort out christmas for her return on Saturday. Gift lists finished, inlaws catered for, Presents wrapped under the tree, food bought, and hopefully a few less things to worry about.

DumboNoMore · 18/12/2025 22:53

My Chemical romance tickets for 16 yo DD.
She asked to go but I said it’s not possible. I’m quite poorly with badly managed Crohn’s disease and I’d struggle to even get to London. Her stepdad had booked a golf holiday long before the tickets were released so he couldn’t take her so it was an all round no go.
DH (DD’s dad) died 10 years ago this Xmas, DD does a fantastic job of helping to take care of me, her younger sister and all the animals so DP and I really wanted to make it happen.
DP cancelled his holiday, we got hold of 3 tickets and the plan is for the 3 of us to go. I should be able to manage it with DPs support and him doing the drive. If I’m not well enough on the day, the 2 of them can still go and DD won’t miss out.

Ive bought a life size cardboard cut out of Gerard Way (front man of MCR) and my sons friend is going to take it out of our shed late Xmas morning, put it on the door step with the ticket taped to it and “Bobby knock” the front door and I will get DD to answer the door.

Im so excited for her

I found a jumper my DM loves in an archive sale on the brand's website, but the site would only ship to addresses in the EU. So I found someone on Reddit to ship it to, they've sent it on to me and while I've paid more in postage and customs charges than the actual jumper is worth I know she'll be delighted!
