The best bit of Christmas for me is seeing people open the presents, I was hugely excited for the interactive dinosaur globe I found for my dad to give my great nephew (and thankfully he loved it) and I am hoping BIL is blown away by his vintage Snoopy lamp.

I'm also quite looking forward to seeing what people think of a couple of the homemade gifts but there's always a tinge of nervousness for them too 😥

Sadly DH scuppered his main gift idea by handing me two (expensive) wrenches and telling me I could wrap them for him so will have to wait for his birthday for what I had planned - at least I know he'll like the wrenches though!

My Chemical romance tickets for 16 yo DD.
She asked to go but I said it’s not possible. I’m quite poorly with badly managed Crohn’s disease and I’d struggle to even get to London. Her stepdad had booked a golf holiday long before the tickets were released so he couldn’t take her so it was an all round no go.
DH (DD’s dad) died 10 years ago this Xmas, DD does a fantastic job of helping to take care of me, her younger sister and all the animals so DP and I really wanted to make it happen.
DP cancelled his holiday, we got hold of 3 tickets and the plan is for the 3 of us to go. I should be able to manage it with DPs support and him doing the drive. If I’m not well enough on the day, the 2 of them can still go and DD won’t miss out.

Ive bought a life size cardboard cut out of Gerard Way (front man of MCR) and my sons friend is going to take it out of our shed late Xmas morning, put it on the door step with the ticket taped to it and “Bobby knock” the front door and I will get DD to answer the door.

Im so excited for her

Love this. So many people working together to make this happen for your dd. I'm sure she will be over the moon. 💜

This is the real spirit of Christmas! Everyone working together to make it happen for her. Amazing!

I hope ive gifted DW a less stressful christmas

My DW lost her deeply loved DF last week and has been knee deep in the practicality of sorting the house, funeral stuff. Shes been up with Dmil but fretting about christmas. She loves christmas, and has been worried about "failing it"

I've managed to mostly sort out christmas for her return on Saturday. Gift lists finished, inlaws catered for, Presents wrapped under the tree, food bought, and hopefully a few less things to worry about.

This is also lovely

I spent around 6 months collecting some weird and wonderful bits for my husband that are very ‘him’ just wrapped it into a giant hamper hamper
last night. Nothing in it is big. But he will love every little item in it. (I hope)

marriednotdead · 19/12/2025 07:31

A couple of silly ones. A Pingu pin badge for adult DS’s stocking, it may beat the Pokémon cufflinks from a few years ago.

A plush mermaids tail for DGD(7). She has several oodie type tops that she likes but I can see her getting cosy with it as well as pretending to be a fish- she’s one of those kids that just likes rolling around on the floor.

itsgettingweird · 19/12/2025 07:33

My ds is train mad and loves purple.

I found a purple T shirt that says easily distracted by trains!!!!

Doe me it’s always the gifts you accidentally find that match the recipients likes.

So although I’ve got him other stuff a £15 T shirt is the one I’m most looking forward to giving!

Toomuch2019 · 19/12/2025 07:41

I bought one of my school friends (we are now 42) a Friends house polly pocket. We don’t normally do gifts but I saw it and she came immediately to mind as she was Friends obsessed. Hoping she likes it!

ILoveLucite · 19/12/2025 07:44

I crocheted my friend a scarf in her football team’s colours. Sadly I won’t get to see her open it but I was really excited to hand it over.

Biffsboys · 19/12/2025 07:48

Ds is getting football boots which sold out within an hour of being released . I set an alarm to get them.

For my 10 yo stepdaughter, a stranger things demigorgon onesie (that I told her was out of stock), she’s a massive fan. Also a peanut jelly cat that was out of stock but finally came back in. Not huge expensive gifts but I know she will love them.

Adult DS (20)has had the year from hell this year.
Very serious illness and hellish treatment.
He has recovered and I can’t WAIT to see his face when he opens his new bike .
I feel like time has rolled back getting him a bike !

sloth75 · 19/12/2025 08:04

Dp- golf clubs and bag. He wanted to buy some but is saving for a new car, so put the golf clubs idea to one side.

thebear1 · 19/12/2025 08:10

This year I'm not really feeling much excitement so it's lovely to read this thread.

FrangipaniBlue · 19/12/2025 08:17

Soon to be 18 DS doesn’t need anything and has asked for nothing for Christmas.

He’s coveted an item of clothing from a particular designer brand for a couple of years (to the point that even extended friends and family have heard him mention it!) but whenever we push him for specifics of which colour/design he says “I’m only joking when I mention it mam I know it’s way too expensive”

We’ve bought him it for Christmas anyway and he has no idea, I can’t wait to see his face on Christmas morning!

Electric toy car and great big dancing Stitch for my daughter.

MamaBobo · 19/12/2025 08:30

DH found a vintage Peugeot Road Bike in a sale room in France over the summer. Made in 1961 it’s older than he is. He’s been doing it up and we hope to ride in an event for Vintage Bikes next summer. I’ve got him a Road Cycling Jersey in vintage Peugeot colours. He’ll love it.

itbemay1 · 19/12/2025 08:32

DH - his very own Ugg slippers as he keeps wearing mine 🤮

Not really anything yet, I’ve not been concentrating on Christmas enough!
although dc1 is going to love the sylvanian families keyring that she spotted. She is 21 and still charmed by utter crap 😂

I didn’t know they did these! They are so cute I just bought one for DD (23)! 😄

FilthyforFirth · 19/12/2025 08:54

Love this thread! Gift giving is definitely my love language, I enjoy it so much. Highlights this year are Epic the musical merch for my little sister! She is obsessed and is going to love it. DS8 had a bit of a wobble about Santa this year, I managed to get him the very expensive star wars lego on his list during BF sale and a couple of star wars things for his stocking I know he will love and will hopefully help extend the magic! DS5 didnt ask for anything on his list (just said 'I love you Santa') he is hot wheels mad but we just had his bday and got everything on his list. We've got him a mega rc monster truck, it is enormous and I think he will just love it and be so wowed at how big it is!

DH has got the new star trek lego set, he knows I got it for him, but he hasnt been allowed to look at it, so he will be so excited on christmas day! Will be hard to drag him away to my parents for the day!

Fernsrus · 19/12/2025 09:33

None this year. I’ve got people pretty much what they’ve indicated are things they want.

evilharpy · 19/12/2025 09:35

This hat for my husband (says ladies but it'll fit him, it's roomy). He will LOVE this.

Hand Knitted Sheep Pattern Bobble Hat - Lambland

My daughter's main present is an ipad for digital drawing that she didn't ask for (she uses and gets frustrated with my geriatric one), but I think she will be more excited by the hot chocolate maker (Salter brand, not Hotel Chocolat) and a box of fancy chocolate for it.

I got my DD12 a new iPad i saved and bought it in Black Friday sales. Hers was my old one years ago from like 2015 or something and it’s on its last dying legs. She hasn’t asked for a new one cause she feels guilty about the price. I can’t wait for her to open it 🥺 xx

Cheepcheepcheep · 19/12/2025 09:45

My 5yo DD has been asking for (specifically) a pink bike with a basket at the front and a seat at the back for her toy bunny. She’s mentioned a few times that she knows Father Christmas might not be able to get one for her but she would lovvvve it.
