Thread 20 - the one with Christmas?

Reastie · 11/12/2025 17:59

I'm taking a punt that this one might see us until Christmas. Will likely live to be proved wrong but let's go with the punt!

The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of mn filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

If you have any referral links then please post on this thread here and share around the joy/referral perks.

Any recommendations for a hairdryer with a diffuser for my dd with curly hair, she likes to straighten it too. Budget up between £30-50, perhaps more for something great that will last.

Can anyone help with a nice candle making kit. Something decent quality, dont mind price too much.
Having a last minute panic after being quite organized.
Thanks

@Hereslookinatyoukid - I have recommended Dior lip oil previously, but it’s a bit over-budget. The cheapest place I could find is Allbeauty for £26.50:

I think you can get 10% off as a new customer and they are on TCB and Quidco.

Gisou lip oil is also quite popular with this age group, (I think🤷‍♀️),and it’s on offer at Cult Beauty at the moment for £16.80:

I bought this a couple of weeks ago and thought it was a bargain. I haven't used the diffuser yet but am loving the hairdryer and the bonus accessories. £21 for the hairdryer, diffuser, hairbrush, keratin heat protector spray, clips and rollers.

Have not had much luck with deliveries this year.
Fahlo have not even dispatched my BF order. I’ve requested a refund three times now and they just ignore it and send back some nonsense that it’s in the last stages of fulfilment etc. It’s so stressful, I will never order from them again.
HN have not fulfilled my last two orders and have had to chase for refunds.Still waiting.

And everything is delayed. I live in London, it’s not usually this bad! Is everyone feeling it this year?

Also London. You’d think we lived in a rural pert of the county where deliveries are concerned. Still 3 items outstanding! 🤞🤞

This is very specific and last minute, but does anyone know where I can find reasonably priced Playmobil hospital accessories please? Increased capacity in her hospital is one of only two things she's asked for and I can't find any sets. Second hand is also okay. I think I've just left it too late now. Thank you

Boots have a spin wheel promotion for customers. I got 20% off so I’ve taken a photo of the code below and hoping that it isn’t unique!

I would l say that is unique to you so maybe ask for post to be removed if you want to use it x

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl I can recommend Lottie Shaw for nice biscuits. Have used them several times and always been well received.

need to go shopping irl tonight due to an amazon order not turning up 🙄 where would people suggest, from the usual high street stores for ‘funky socks’

Talisin · 18/12/2025 07:54

@MrsMattSantos Primark and White Stuff.

Jaques of London have a clearance sale on stocking fillers - some nice bits for younger children.

Can anyone recommend a company which supplies nice little letterbox gifts? Looking for three for older female relatives - I can find lots with spa type gifts, but I was looking for nice tea/ coffee, biscuits, maybe hand cream... the sort of thing I could put together myself if I had time, but sadly not as I work in a school and it's still manic at work!!

there’s lots of letterbox gifts (edible, pampering or otherwise) on Bloom & Wild and you can usually pick up a bargain using a referral code for £10 off.

likewise Cutter & Squidge do really lovely letterbox gifts with cakes, brownies, biskies etc from about £20 or afternoon teas (including Christmas themed, winter themed etc) from about £30 and you can use a referral code for £10 off £30.

i finally ordered the tiffin chocolate wreath from Cutter and Squidge for delivery this weekend and I’m pretty excited about it 🤩. I hope it doesn’t let me down…

Typo if you've got one near you, and I second white stuff which is also sold by M&S I think

I have this hairdryer, I think I've had it for close to 20 years. It's older than my thread babies. I recently handed it down to YellowHat the youngest as I treated myself to a Dyson!

MrsMattSantos · 18/12/2025 08:19

don’t think there is a typo near me - but will probably now head to white stuff after work
thanks for the suggestion!

Sorry if already posted as I haven’t caught up yet but George at Asda have just reduced more of their Christmas clothing - I managed to grab matching PJs for us all to collect on Friday at a bargain price!

https://direct.asda.com/george/christmas/christmas-clothing/D18M21G1,default,sc.html?srule=prod_g_price_asc

Thank you - I just bought Christmas pyjamas we don’t need but they were too cute to resist at that price!
