We have a winter wonderland visit for this weekend. Will do a movie night over next few days. School finishes next Friday- we have dinner and panto booked for that evening. Then will pick up stuff to do a gingerbread house/men.

Walk round the local streets looking at all the lights

Small mental breakdown 😆

garlictwist · 10/12/2025 09:19

I'm going to Peru on Saturday for three weeks. Can't wait, haven't had a holiday for a couple of years. It won't be very Christmassy though.

MsSquiz · 10/12/2025 09:23

We have:

Lights trail
santa visit at a local farm
Center Parcs trip for DD1’s birthday

Cubs Christmas party tonight, school carols tomorrow, Friday night I'm singing in a Christmas concert in our local cathedral which family and friends are coming to see. Next week we have a cadet award ceremony one evening. And school Christmas parties. Neither of us are going to our respective work dos. We are going to the circus on boxing day. And possibly a panto if I can fit it in.

TheCountessAtChristmas · 10/12/2025 09:31

  • Buy a tree and decorate it
  • Buy presents
  • Navigate 100 school events
  • Purchase other bits such as crackers, wrapping paper, etc
  • Food/booze shop
  • Meal out with friends
  • Work christmas party
  • Get through my huge to-do list at work so I'm not stressing about it over the Christmas period
blankcanvas3 · 10/12/2025 14:47

UK Lapland which I’m dreading and cannot believe I spent that much money on (booked after one too many glasses of wine)
Husbands work christmas party, plus several other ‘christmas drinks’ with friends
Wrapping presents
DD’s nursery nativity
Big food shop
Light walk thing
Last min present shopping
Little cry in the bathroom when I inevitably get stressed

BellaBal · 10/12/2025 14:48

people who do “light walks” - is this actually enjoyable?

Ineedanewsofa · 10/12/2025 15:15

3x school events (done 2 already!)
1x xmas meal with friends
1x work xmas meal
9x days at work(!)
1x early xmas with relatives who are with other family on the actual day
and hopefully 1x panto trip if I can get it booked!

MiddleAgedDread · 10/12/2025 15:34

no, overpriced and wasted on small children IMO! And once you've been to one you've pretty seen them all.

Prelim · 10/12/2025 15:36

Just working as usual!

Daisywhatsyouranswer · 10/12/2025 15:38

Off on long haul trip to sunshine and sand, really looking forward to it, will be there for Xmas and new year.

HoneyParsnipSoup · 10/12/2025 15:42

Farm visit, likely in the rain, on Saturday.
Visiting my family’s graves, likely in the rain, on Sunday.
Having a weekend away visiting family next weekend, again rain according to the forecast.
Christmas Eve I’m alone with the kids with no plans and no car so will do what I can to make it festive, probably baking, while it rains outside.
Christmas Day it’s forecast to rain. We plan on taking a rainy walk in the woods, attending Mass, then home for lunch with the in laws and after that watching TV and playing games and possible going for another rainy walk.

BrieAndChilli · 10/12/2025 15:43

Going out with friends for a fondue night
Possibly going to bath crhistmas market
Going out with MIL, SIL and Aunt in law for a meal and a cocktail making class
Scouts christmas carol concert
Bute park light trail
Christmas paint and sip with another friend
Going out for food and drinks with another friend
Might do an escape room with the kids
If Christmas Karma is still in the cinema next weekend I might watch that

Already had work xmas party

Will do last min shopping, food shop, wrapping presents etc. Need to clean house for quests. Will have a couple of christmas film nights.

JudgeBread · 10/12/2025 15:46

Working! Unfortunately it being Christmas doesn't stop people setting fire to shit. In fact it increases the problem! Thankfully I love my job so I don't mind working Christmas and do lots of overtime in the run up.

In terms of actual Christmas things, if I've got the energy we'll go on our annual walk around the village to judge everyone's Christmas lights, finishing in the pub.

Then me and my mam are going on our annual boozy wreath making day where we will drink lots of prosecco and make embarrassingly bad wreathes.

I'm taking my niece to Breakfast with Santa at our local this weekend which should be nice.

And finally decorating the tree this weekend, if I can be arsed!

CharlotteCChapel · 10/12/2025 15:50

Seeing my dad and sister. Christmas baking, mince pies and stollen, perhaps a mincemeat cake as I haven't made a Christmas cake this year.

cupfinalchaos · 10/12/2025 16:38

On a Caribbean cruise with family.

AllJoyAndNoFun · 10/12/2025 17:46

school carol concert tomorrow, tree decoration Friday, lunch in London on Sunday with friends, going skiing for a week and then back to get organised for Christmas Day/ Boxing Day. Going ice skating Christmas Eve- what could possibly go wrong?

PumpkinPie2016 · 10/12/2025 19:23

DS has a couple of school events (he's Y7) but luckily in the day time. I just have to remember to pay and send Christmas jumper/tombola prize etc. On the right days.

I am working until the 19th - it's KS3 assessments this week so I now have a lot of marking to do, plus sorting KS4 assessments for Jan (Head of Dept). On a trip tomorrow and a few other things. Basically, it's teach as normal up until the final Fri and I have a mountain of work to do.

Having a root canal on the 23rd which I'm dreading.

Need to finish buying presents and then wrap them all.

Will need to do the food shop and tidy the house up.

I'm currently shattered and have a cold so not exactly full of energy 😂 looking forward to the holidays though and a chance to relax a bit and catch up with friends and family.

AhBiscuits · 10/12/2025 19:33

We're going to Gladiators live on Sunday. We have a panto coming up too.

StarsTwinklingPomanders · 10/12/2025 19:33

Poorly3yrold · 10/12/2025 19:38

Finish icing the last cake.
Decorate tree tomorrow.
Sat we have Father Christmas at the local cinema and Sunday, church.
Tues I'm taking DD to a garden centre with a friend to see the lights and Dec's.
Sat 20th currently nothing but probably visiting/panic wrapping/packing
Sun 21st Church and Carol services in the evening
Christmas eve - Christingle at church then traveling to DMs
Also we will make baby Jesus for the.manger on Xmas eve for our nativity.

We've been making christmas cards and posted most of them. Just wrapping to do.
