£10 secret santa for random colleague (we don't draw names) - could be male or female, needs to be vegan, nut free, soya free and not alcoholic

So in my new office the secret santa is completely random - you just pull a present out of the sack. So I need to buy something that would suit everyone in the team - men, women, old young, muslim (so no alcohol), vegan, nut free, soya free. So not hard then! £10 limit. What do you think?

That's a nightmare! Voucher for a local shop/cafe?

MumoftwoNC · 09/12/2025 11:18

A scarf or a mug

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 09/12/2025 11:19

Wankernomics book?

WorkBreakingMe · 09/12/2025 11:21

Nice stationery, mug, something for the office desk, photo frame? Hot chocolate blocks on a stick are also a great present and vegan ones are quite common now :)

Bjorkdidit · 09/12/2025 11:22

Sounds like a good way for everyone to waste £10 on something they don't want or need in a misguided pretence of 'Christmas cheer'.

Can't you just all bring in vegan (so crap pastry) mince pies and have a natter?

Maybe some sort of festive quiz?

Maybe a pact for everyone to buy a £10 gift card for somewhere like M&S and then you can all buy yourselves something you actually want or spend it on food and then spend the tenner elsewhere.

MiddlingMarch · 09/12/2025 11:23

A notebook and pen.

Renamed · 09/12/2025 11:25

Christmas crackers! Oxfam £10 for 6, or £4.99 for mini crackers

PacificState · 09/12/2025 11:26

I was going to say put a tenner in a card, but an M&S voucher works. Everyone wants something from the M&S food hall, don’t they? Even if it’s only a fancy sandwich one lunchtime.

Don’t buy vegan treats. I’m sure they’re lovely if you’re vegan, but if you’re used to eating dairy, they’re not very nice.

bridgetreilly · 09/12/2025 11:26

Nice notebook and pen. Mug with nice tea bags. Candle.

NuffSaidSam · 09/12/2025 11:29

I'd get a card game like Uno, Dobble, Monopoly Deal, Exploding Kittens. You can usually get one of those for less than £10. It's not going to offend anyone (although maybe avoid exploding kittens because of the vegans!), it's not plastic crap, most people like a game and if they don't it's easy to regift.

Does anyone go through as many notebooks, mugs or photo frames to justify the amount bought on MN?

We have a cupboard full of mugs and I can't remember buying most of them and when I do see one I like, I won't allow myself to buy it because of the couple of dozen at home, most of which I don't care for.

Likewise notebooks, I have about a dozen unused notebooks because again, they just seem to breed out of control, most of them foisted on me by other people.

Mochudubh · 09/12/2025 11:32

Screw that! I'd make a gift donation to a donkey sanctuary and not participate next year.

Silverbirchleaf · 09/12/2025 11:33

Amaryllis Lily or one if those tulip in vase sets you get at this time of year

Santa Clause ornament (I presume if Muslim is doing secret Santa, they’re okay for a Santa themed gift)

teabag gift set

roundaboutthehillsareshining · 09/12/2025 11:33

I usually get a little crafting kit - something like this https://sewinspiringuk.co.uk/collections/small-cross-stitch-kits/products/stripies-tiger-cross-stitch-riolis-hb-092. It's a nice, secular, mindful thing that's also easy to regift if they don't want it.

I don't want a mug or a photo frame, but I could never have too many notebooks!

Badedas. I got some in a secret santa once and was disappointed, but it's so lovely! Good for either male/female.

I wouldn't want badedas I don't think.

You see I'd be happy with alcohol, chocolate or nice biscuits, but I'm not going to get them because of the vegan, nut free, soya free thing . I'm worrying what I'll get now!

I do like monty bojangle or booja booja chocolates but they're not nut free.

I might go for the M&S voucher!

That’s the worst secret Santa ever. Try to please everyone but end up pleasing no one. Voucher for somewhere like m&s is the only thing worth getting.

Whereland · 09/12/2025 11:44

A Christmas decoration

RB68 · 09/12/2025 11:49

You could always donate to a charity on someones behalf - you know buy a loo or feed a goat - wld be different and at least the 10 er is doing something useful

I would prob go local coffee house or sandwich shop voucher

RB68 · 09/12/2025 11:50

surely you mean winter holiday decoration
