Our absolute favourite is The Family Man with Nicholas Cage, but it strangely rarely gets mentioned.

I’m interested in other people’s favourites, as the last quality new movie to come out IMO was Your Christmas or Mine a few years ago.

I loved The Family Man when I saw it.

Mine are probably quite typical: Home Alone, A Muppet’s Christmas Carol, A Nightmare Before Christmas and for young children Stick Man

Both versions of the Grinch, Christmas with the kranks.

DinoLil · 02/12/2025 07:29

National Lampoon.

GooseyGandalf · 02/12/2025 07:33

I can’t think of any I enjoy anymore. I thought I’d enjoy watching them with our dc, but the older ones always have cringey bits, dubious underlying messages, etc. And my teens are far more clued in than I was at their age, and judge me for not having noticed things like dubious consent, hyper sexualisation of young teens, pervy santas etc. It’s worse now than when I watched them with my dps.

The Snowman is the only one left, and the ending is too bleak.

RoamingToaster · 02/12/2025 07:45

I forgot Miracle on 34th Street and Jingle All the Way. The latter is cheesy but fun.

@SwallowsandGlamazons I agree Family Man is underrated.

I like Scrooged, Elf, Home Alone, Santa Clause, Christmas Eve, Fred Claus and Miracle on 34th Street.

We tried to watch the Holiday as usual last year and just couldn’t bear the characterisation of the Kate Winslett character and her total subjugation to the Rufus Sewell character, absolutely awful!
Thanksgiving is fair game btw
