Our absolute favourite is The Family Man with Nicholas Cage, but it strangely rarely gets mentioned.

I’m interested in other people’s favourites, as the last quality new movie to come out IMO was Your Christmas or Mine a few years ago.

Red One
A Muppets Christmas Carol

Thanks all - some great ones on here that I haven’t watched yet!

Another favourite of mine that’s not mentioned much is The Night Before with Seth Rogan, which is absolutely hilarious.

I love The Holiday and can always rewatch it, even though it’s very cringy and full of outdated stereotypes.

Love Actually just makes me uncomfortable though - apart from the scene with Emma Thompson and the jewellery, I just find it terribly cynical.

Bernard and the Genie! A Richard Curtis classic with Lenny Henry, Alan Cumming and Rowan Atkinson.

I have so many.

Lampoons is one of mine but DC don’t like it.
Muppets Christmas Carol is genius
Scrooged
Love Actually
The Grinch with Jim Carey
Home Alone

I’ve decided that our new tradition for Christmas will be to watch The Holdovers.

More for older teens but Paul Giamatti is such a complex character (anti but also pro Dead Poets Society) you can’t help but love him and it IS set at Christmas break…

Love Actually
The Holiday
National Lampoons Christmas Vacation
Die Hard
There is a film with Patrick Stewart called 'Christmas Eve' and that has become a new favourite.

I watched that the other day, its definitely for adults and older teens, not because of language or sex ,because its a film with deeper feelings than most oh I met him in early January and we got married at new years eve

BeddieT · 20/12/2025 13:38

I watch Fanny and Alexander every Christmas. Probably not a Christmas film in the truest sense (although I believe it’s a Christmas tradition to watch it every year in Sweden) but it does start out at a Christmas gathering.

Not really a fan of most the Christmas classics. I don’t understand why Elf has gained such a following, for example.

I can't bear Love Actually. The only funny bit imo is the jewellery scene with Rowan Atkinson

The slipper and the rose

StressedLP1 · 21/12/2025 00:28

Love Love Actually although I know it gets slated. My gen zedder watched it with me for the first time so I was curious to see her reaction. ‘4 out 5, better than expected’ (lost a point for the fat shaming).
