Christmas morning breakfast

It's just DH and I. We usually have smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, with bagels and bucks fizz (we go visiting from mid-day - all in walking distance so no driving!).

Would like something different this year so looking for some ideas please 😋

Nothing! Not really breakfast people.** But I always wish we were when I read the delights other people have.

** champagne isn't breakfast, so that.

I buy frozen croissants and pain au chocolat from Waitrose. One/two each more than enough given you're about to have a massive meal later. Heat in the oven for a few minutes ..... perfect!

toastandegg · 01/12/2025 19:07

Croissants or pain au chocolates depending on preference, kids usually have whatever is in their stockings too so I often add a breakfast bar or similar…. Er….. I mean Santa does

Full Scottish for us

Does that include square (Lorne) sausage?😋

Full English for us, with a big teapot of Yorkshire tea

onlyhereforthefood · 01/12/2025 19:48

Cereal with baileys, not milk, swiftly followed by a selection box

Autocorrect23 · 01/12/2025 20:26

Can’t help as we have very much the same as you OP! Husband, DD and I. Scrambled egg, salmon, Buck’s Fizz (OJ for DD!) but it has to be on a special bread that I only allow my husband to buy on Christmas Eve every year and at no other point during the year!!

nannyl · 01/12/2025 22:16

In our house:
Jus rol croissants, made by the kids (all of us)
very nice jam (DD1 and me)
smoked salmon (DD2 DH)
scrambled eggs (DD2 DH)
pannetone (me, both DDs)
clementine juice (all of us)
very nice coffee (me and DH)

This is probably the only meal of the entire year where we eat different things, but its all on the table and we all eat what we want together, and it wouldnt be Xmas without all of that on our breakfast table.

We have lots of other festive breakfasts throughout the festive season.
Yesturday we started our day with santa pancakes

Pallisers · 01/12/2025 22:23

I always do sausages, bacon, blackpudding and toast. But this year I am definitely going to do the bacon naan rolls - they look great.

ilovepixie · 01/12/2025 23:08

We just have our normal breakfast, toast or cereal. We eat lunch about 1 or 1.30 so don’t eat much before.

cucumberpeach · 01/12/2025 23:18

Reading this thread vicariously. I have to have plain porridge on Xmas day if I'm to enjoy myself later as too much rich food in one day upsets my stomach. FML.

cucumberpeach · 01/12/2025 23:20

Xiaoxiong · 01/12/2025 09:31

This is reminding me that in covid we had a Dishoom kit to make bacon naan rolls, which was a brilliant Christmas morning breakfast!

@ImogenBrocklehurst yes cutted up pear!! And if DH makes me cross I can throw it at him/on the floor Grin

Oh wow, I didn't know they sold kits

StewkeyBlue · 01/12/2025 23:25

If I had a cook I would have kippers, or smoked haddock, or kedgeree.

Lndnmummy · 01/12/2025 23:28

I am not great at eating breakfast but in my culture there is a special type of saffron bun that you eat on the 13th of December so I usually have one of those in the morning. Dh and kids don't like it and I'd usually make them some crossiants. Just coffee and orange juice. We keep breakfast light as tend to eat lunch around 1-2pm. The kids will inevitably also eat all the chocolate coins from their stockings too.

OhDonuts · 01/12/2025 23:30

We always have orange juice and warmed croissants filled with Nutella.

Imisscoffee2021 · 01/12/2025 23:34

didntlikeanyofthesuggestions · 01/12/2025 09:02

Baileys poured over softened Terry's chocolate orange

🤣

I love that bun, had them in Sweden and Norway when I did some hiking there, wish they were as easily accessible in bakeries in the UK!

ToadRage · 01/12/2025 23:39

My husband has cream cheese and salmon on a toasted English muffin and wobbly coffee.

Lostxmasfairy · 01/12/2025 23:52

Bacon, sausage or egg butties Dh get up to make the butties.
Tea for me and coffee for him orange juice for the kids.

landlordhell · 01/12/2025 23:57

Smoked salmon and cream cheese bagels or smoked salmon on scrambled eggs.

Nonameagain31 · 02/12/2025 08:21

We are having croissants ill get the part baked ones in. Don't want to waste time in the kitchen. My xmas dinner is typically just a normal roast with a few extras (pigs in blankets etc).

Piemam · 02/12/2025 11:15

@ToadRage , is a wobbly coffee a boozy coffee? I like those too!

ToadRage · 02/12/2025 11:18

@Piemam Yes, coffee with rum and cream floating on top. A proper Irish coffee has whisky so a wobbly coffee is with rum.

Derbee · 02/12/2025 12:33

So many people suggesting what you already have, or just swapping scrambled egg for cream cheese 😂.

Depending on who is cooking, we either have loaded breakfast burritos (scrambled egg, mushroom, bacon, sausage etc), or sourdough with avocado, bacon, poached eggs, pico de gallo.

We’ve saved the effort and just had croissants one year, but everyone missed the substantial breakfast, so the chefs have been roped in ever since (about 10 of us usually).

Mulledjuice · 02/12/2025 12:38

Christmas porridge (full cream milk, dried cranberries and dates, cinnamon and mixed spice)
