It's just DH and I. We usually have smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, with bagels and bucks fizz (we go visiting from mid-day - all in walking distance so no driving!).

Would like something different this year so looking for some ideas please 😋

Waffles with yoghurt, bananas and maple syrup with a sprinkling of granola. Sometime Shane cherry compote too. I batch make the waffles in advance so quite easy on the day.

Christmas tree shaped crumpets with dry fried wilting raspberries and blueberries with cinnamon powder and thick Greek yoghurt on top

Ever since I was little we have cold gammon ham and fried egg with fresh bread. I kept the tradition going and now in my 60s.

Breakfast casserole. Pop it in the oven to bake while we open presents.

my favorite savory combo is challah, sausage, apple, sharp cheddar, and onion, held together with an eggy custard.

Baileys poured over softened Terry's chocolate orange

Now that's my kind of breakfast. 😅

My son likes pancakes ( even ready done ones) with chocolate sauce

RescueMeFromThisSilliness · 01/12/2025 17:36

We've never bothered with a special breakfast on Christmas Day at all, other than the dc having a bowl of Rice Krispies with added chocolate coins in it!

Full Scottish for us

Bread pudding made with croissants. I have a few variations:
-lightly spread Nutella or pistachio cream on the croissants before the egg/cream mix
-instead of egg/cream to soak the bread use eggnog
-serve the egg/cream version with bananas foster (just a basic sauté of not too ripe bananas with brown sugar and butter)
-serve with fresh berries and whipped cream
-serve with maple syrup unless bananas foster style

I also make cinnamon buns with cream cheese frosting for Christmas morning

The savoury meal is lunch which is usually quiche with roasted potatoes.

Dinner is around 6pm.

Jus roll pastries and usually get some frozen bake at home ones too. As bung in oven whilst tidying wrapping paper and by time rubbish picked up the pastries are done.

BloodyHellBob · 01/12/2025 17:59

Last year I had porridge made with melted chocolate and loads of raspberries on top. Then I needed a savoury chaser and had bacon butties! Didn’t eat dinner until the evening and just nibbled through the day!

Smoked salmon with scrambled eggs and bucks fizz

SkankingWombat · 01/12/2025 18:04

DCs always have a First Breakfast of anything edible from their stockings.
We used to have toasted muffins with scrambled eggs and smoked salmon once we were up and the turkey was dressed and in the oven, but we found it too filling with the midday nibbles on top (we eat around 3pm). Nobody wanted to lose the nibbles, so for the last few years we've dropped breakfast and upscaled the nibbles. We now do a nunber of rounds of (usually fishy) canapés, shop-bought for ease. Both our old and new traditon is accompanied with Bucks Fizz, Champagne/equivalent, and a few Negronis.

MaplePumpkin · 01/12/2025 18:14

Pannetone and chocolate Orange for me !

MooseAndSquirrelLoveFlannel · 01/12/2025 18:16

Nothing.

We eat Christmas lunch around 3pm, if i ate breakfast I'd be too stuffed.

But all your breakfasts sound delicious, I'm tempted by the croissants..

EllaPaella · 01/12/2025 18:21

We always used to have a big fry-up Christmas morning but the last couple of years we’ve had bacon butties. This year I’m going to have almond croissants and normal croissants. Panettone dipped in coffee is delish, Sainsbury’s do a lovely chocolate orange one so maybe that too.

harriethoyle · 01/12/2025 18:31

We’re having either eggs Benedict or smoked salmon and scrambled eggs (tempted by the bagels mentioned up thread) after the dog walk so it’ll be totally acceptable to drink champagne with it 😆

Vicliz24 · 01/12/2025 18:35

We have pork pie with Stilton and crusty bread rolls .

IDontLikePinaColadas · 01/12/2025 18:39

We did this for the first time a couple of years ago and it has now become our Christmas morning go-to (with a Bloody Mary of course)
