Thread 13 - the one with a cheesy advent calendar of 67 jumpers

Reastie · 29/11/2025 20:25

Decided to combine both thread title suggestions :)

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for helping me out and I'm so excited that I was on my computer and she tagged me so I could set this one up - hurrah!

Feeling super festive today after getting the decorations up and visiting Father Christmas. Exciting news is the Christmas bedding and jumpers are all down from the loft and being washed, so I'll soon be able to walk around in my 'I [heart] Christmas' jumper Xmas Grin

This post is a work in progress, and if you have any links you’d like to share or you think would be good to add, then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas, and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links, please.
Please post any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of MN filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!
As we move towards actual Black Friday (does that even exist any more?) the threads tend to move very quickly. It can be helpful to post your bargain in bold. This can be done by adding an asterxix either side of a word with no gap in between. So Levi's would be Levi's

@Chocolateteabag - would it be possible to put those hand warmer thingies in the pockets of baggy cargo type trousers with warm leggings underneath? I’m almost sure I haven’t imagined that you can get heated pads for feet but wouldn’t swear to it 😹

For anyone who has received the chuckling cheese advent calendar, did you get a delivery notification email?

I’ve had nothing since order confirmation on Saturday. It’s showing as ‘on the way’ on the Shop app, but nothing to confirm dispatch or a delivery estimate. Bit worried it might be a warm, smelly mess by the time it arrives.

It showed as on its way on the shop app before it was shipped. I had an email off them to say they were preparing it, then that they had sent it, then updates from dpd including a text with a hour delivery slot.

IlovePond · 03/12/2025 16:22

@MydeamonsanOstrich yes, I did - I got a notification from DPD that they were expecting my parcel.

Then about 36 hours later another DPD message arrived, saying it was coming that day, (which it did).

MydeamonsanOstrich · 03/12/2025 16:24

Thank you @Mokeytreeand @IlovePond
hopefully I’ll hear something by soon.

Bit niche but does anyone have a snorkel mask that they would recommend? I’m looking for the full face sort with elastic straps that cradle the back of the head. (Probably not explaining that very well!) they seem to vary in price a lot. Wondering if anyone knew of which brands were good/ best avoided?

I was looking at these in the summer but decided against it as they are apparently really dangerous. People have died due to carbon dioxide. They are banned in quite a few countries.

no i never got a notification email etc just appeared yesterday

Whoevenarethey · 03/12/2025 16:33

Well, I relieved to see I am not the only one waiting still for the Fahlo bracelets. I am quite annoyed as I seem to be bombarded with emails from them, but none about dispatch! I did get a customer experience one to rate the help given when I emailed them, which I gave a one star to stating it was a generic message and no real update.

YouCanLetItGo · 03/12/2025 16:35

That’s so kind @Carrie76 thank you.

FurForksSake · 03/12/2025 16:40

Farmfoods have 10 packs of j2o for £4.99, that’s a good price if you stock up for Christmas.

christmasfish · 03/12/2025 16:51

I'm going to roll the dice and not refrigerate my cheese calendar. They are truckles which typically don't need to be refrigerated (i.e. all those little pop-up winter markets that sell them every year) - the wax keeps it fresh.

No room at the inn my fridge.

If you don't hear from me again, I've died the way I wanted to go. By eating slightly off cheese.

For anyone with Gravitrax loving children.

The 2025 advent calendar is reduced on Ravesnburger.co.uk to £17.99. If you sign up to their newsletter you get a code for £5 off, bringing it down to £12.99 with free delivery (I’m mainland UK, they might charge for further afield).

Thank you for this, grandson is getting an extra present now!

lifelongfrugaleer · 03/12/2025 16:59

My cheese calendar is delayed apparently.

if you still want to go for the face swim masks we’ve had the decathlon ones. But I found the snorkel & bigger goggles better

Heylittlesongbird · 03/12/2025 17:05

Crimpit seem to have a decent sale on at the moment. I’ve bought thins before, but have just gone for wraps and toastie ones.

This is £50 for a second hand one. But I have at least resigned to coping with a second hand one, knowing it parps out sand, as opposed to something, well... gloopy. Just needs to have all the bits present.

Plus, I have further flamingo news...

Following DS banging on about this bastard, bastard, bastard flamingo, DD now wants one too.

Marvellous.

Send gin.

By him one of the cheaper flamingos with the sand etc missing and buy her the giraffe. Wrap the animals up for each of them and then the loo and sand etc as a joint present on the basis that your children share a bathroom so the toys can too.....

Also - who ever was after the Jellycat frog CHristmas tree - Anthropologie seem to have it in stock.

Can anyone recommend a deodorant/body spray similar to lynx but not lynx for a 21 year old? Happy to buy a gift set or just individual as they don’t want shower gel or shaving products, just something a bit fancier than Sure or Lynx.

My son likes the Hugo Boss sprays and Deodorant sticks, Just my Look is the cheapest website for them, they're usually around £10 each. In an emergency when he runs out he doesn't mind using the Ted Baker sprays which Boots sell a pack of 3 for around £12.

For those looking for hismile toothpastes, home bargains seem to have them for £1.49

Nnoooo I paid £4.50 at Boots and month ago

BarryKentPoet · 03/12/2025 17:45

Cheese and Gruum have both arrived!

Just popcorn & Fahlo to wait for now...

Blessedbethefruitz · 03/12/2025 17:52

My cheese is here! Love how dpd believes my open doorstep is a safe place, while my excellent evri man waits every time, come hell or high water. Alas, dh has opened the cheese box and asked if I know him at all after 10 years 🤣 he is lactose intolerant, but he also eats cheddar every day, so...

I've been using stick-on nametags for my children's school uniform for the last few years. They have survived being repeatedly washed, don't fade and I haven't ever had one fall off. The advantage is that you can use them to label other items as well, they're really great.

I concur. They are amazing!
