Thread 13 - the one with a cheesy advent calendar of 67 jumpers

Decided to combine both thread title suggestions :)

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for helping me out and I'm so excited that I was on my computer and she tagged me so I could set this one up - hurrah!

Feeling super festive today after getting the decorations up and visiting Father Christmas. Exciting news is the Christmas bedding and jumpers are all down from the loft and being washed, so I'll soon be able to walk around in my 'I [heart] Christmas' jumper Xmas Grin

This post is a work in progress, and if you have any links you’d like to share or you think would be good to add, then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas, and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links, please.
Please post any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of MN filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!
As we move towards actual Black Friday (does that even exist any more?) the threads tend to move very quickly. It can be helpful to post your bargain in bold. This can be done by adding an asterxix either side of a word with no gap in between. So Levi's would be Levi's

My son is back from uni mid Dec and would like an advent calendar (probably a chocolate one) at home - when would we say is the best time to buy it? And where from?

I am thinking in store is best but wondering when is the window of still available and best discounted price?! I’d like to get him a fairly luxury one if I can.

Suggestions appreciated.

Also just saw advent calendars are half price at Boots and you get triple points

TheGirlWhoLived · 03/12/2025 10:44

I have gruum- it came through Royal Mail so if you’re struggling with receiving post then this could add to it. Still waiting on the Toniebox which is now 10 days and counting

SomeFiggyPudding · 03/12/2025 10:47

Apologies if this has been mentioned but I’ve just picked up a Sainsbury’s beauty advent calendar in store - £20 nectar card price down from £80! My local store only had 4 out, happened to see them near the till. It’s quite a big box with some lovely bits in, I may keep as a treat to myself 😊

burblish · 03/12/2025 10:59

Popcorn: my email from Joe & Seph's said 5-7 working days for dispatch, so I'm not expecting my order to come till next week.

Gruum: nothing from them but, last time I ordered from them, it took at least a week before my order was dispatched. So, again, I'm not expecting anything till next week.

I have just been to Waitrose as my friend who works there tipped me off that the advent calendars are half price from today. I bought a Lindt one from DS2 who is home from uni next week!

Thanks all - got a Tony's advent calendar for £6 in Sainsbos

ihavespoken · 03/12/2025 11:34

Thanks so much to whoever suggested getting a Subscribe and Save for amazon for wine - and cancelling later. I just got 12 bottles of wine for gifts for £45 as this one had a £9 voucher on it (not sure if just specific to me) plus the subscribe and save 10% off plus 2% discount for no-rush shipping!

Wickedd · 03/12/2025 11:51

B&M have the branded £7.50 squishmallows reduced to £3 and the massive ones for £9.99 if anyone is interested.

zacsGranny · 03/12/2025 12:07

Any suggestions for a pretty generic gift to go into a present swap?
Male and female. Ages from 9 - 70 and budget is £10.
Will be a sort of Reverse Raffle.

DaffodilsInAJamjar · 03/12/2025 12:09

Bit niche but does anyone have a snorkel mask that they would recommend? I’m looking for the full face sort with elastic straps that cradle the back of the head. (Probably not explaining that very well!) they seem to vary in price a lot. Wondering if anyone knew of which brands were good/ best avoided?

I've heard good things about the shark swim tech one Tesco have on offer. It's under £20 Vs high £30s in decathlon.

Frugi have a free Santa sack for orders over £80 and their water bottles are down to £5 each. Also still have some mystery sacks on offer for £35-£39

Terrys chocolate orange advent calendars and swizzle sweet ones half price in Sainsbury’s

Shelly421 · 03/12/2025 12:14

Could anyone recommend a nice jewellery box brand?

Depends on age range. If you're looking for preteen, teens and adults then Stackers is always my go to. You can buy trays that stack together which makes it easy for the recipient to add to it if their jewellery collection expands.

Have you actually signed up via this page? If you have, and it's giving you a QR code to use instore, then just ignore that for now and check your emails. Firstly, you should get confirmation that you're now a member, then you will get your £20 off email. This sometimes takes a day or two from memory (I signed up back in August and got £20 off their advent calendar)

SleepPerChanceToDream · 03/12/2025 12:33

Can I ask re: Anthroperks, do you have to give your mobile number in order to sign up/receive the £20 voucher? If so, are those that have signed up being bombarded with marketing texts from them? I’ve been putting off signing up, as I hate marketing texts!

IlovePond · 03/12/2025 12:33

Hi @bizzey - today’s cheese calendar offering was two of the tiniest ever biscuits - not even a bite each - about 10p size.

I am attaching a pic of the biscuits and yesterday’s chutney so you can see them both.

The cheese measuring will have to wait until the next cheese day arrives…
