Every year I dont have a clue what to get him. He's 40, doesn't drink, he likes chocolate but I feel like I always get him that. Have bought him a jumper many years. Have also done vouchers but always feels rubbish with everyone opening a present and him just with a voucher. He supports a popular football club but other than that doesnt really have any hobbies. Help!!!

Can't you buy a couple or a family gift instead of an individual?

Good idea but no, I've already bought the others presents as they told me what they'd like.

Bamboo underwear
Nice winter gloves
Slipper socks
Slippersĺ
Velvetizer & multi sachet box of hot chocolate
"Something to use in the car" pack - de-mister pad/air freshener/car mats/steering wheel cover /windshield cover etc.

Retro football scarf for his teams colours? Not necessarily emblazoned with the team

These have some lovely ones but seems a lot are out of stock currently. Not sure if it's something they will restock but gives you an idea what I mean

Bamboo underwear? 🤣 Who the fuck buys their sisters husband bamboo underwear?

CoffeeChocolateWine · 22/11/2025 18:10

Stadium tour of his fave football club? My DH and DS were bought this as a gift last year and it was a hit.

Thedevilhasfinallycaughtupwithhim · 22/11/2025 18:23

Aftershave?

Silverbirchleaf · 22/11/2025 18:32

tea/coffee/beer subscription

Go to website of football team and see what they have on there - there’s bound to be T-shirts, scarves, gifts etc there.

They have some of these on Woucher ATM.

Football stadium jigsaw puzzle? (From Amazon and some independent websites.)
Does he go to matches? Handwarmers or hipflask? Thermal socks?
Does he drink - if so whisky stones? Or the Edmunds pre-made cocktails are nice, they come in individual bottles and there are botanical garnishes included to add yourself. They do a Christmas selection.
Hotel Chocolate Xmas wreath (about £25)
Magazine subscription ? football magazine
Ticket to a game.

Bamboo underwear? What a truly bizarre suggestion 😂😂

luckylavender · 22/11/2025 20:21

Who on earth would buy their BIL underwear? Beyond creepy.
Does he read? Garden?

Fends · 22/11/2025 20:54

OP please just buy him a bamboo g-string and a framed print out of this thread 🤣

Umy15r03lcha1 · 22/11/2025 21:44

A wedge of cheddar or Stilton, jar of chutney, crackers

AutumnClouds · 22/11/2025 21:49

Does he drink mocktails, coffee syrups or herbal teas or anything like that you could get some fancy ingredients for or versions of? Some super hot and interestingly packaged chili sauces if he likes spice? Nice cheese and pickles? An automatic foot massager?

ShesTheAlbatross · 22/11/2025 21:59

Can’t you ask your sister? Or if he’s your DH’s brother, make this his problem?

PermanentTemporary · 22/11/2025 22:00

I’d say either a Bodum stainless steel travel mug, or The Spy and the Traitor by Ben Macintyre as I don’t know anyone who hasn’t enjoyed it.

UnpaintedLily · 22/11/2025 22:15

Life is too short to fret about what to get. Ask him for two or three concrete suggestions and buy one of them. Tell him that if he doesn't know what he wants he'll be getting a voucher/book token. Often people who are perceived to be awkward to buy for just aren't fussed about this kind of thing and will be perfectly happy with a mundane (but 'useful') gift.

bestbefore · 22/11/2025 22:20

Stanley have some amazing travel mugs etc at the moment. Even a water bottle might go down well.

Hamper? Different chocolates. I've done coffee hampers for people who like coffee, all different types.

Can never go wrong with a hamper of things people like. They're pretty easy to make m
