Hello folks and welcome to the ongoing Christmas Bargain threads, which are hosted annually by the Amazing Reastie. I'm just caretaking for now.

This post is a work in progress, and if you have any links you’d like to share or would be good to add, then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas, and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links, please.

Please post any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of MN filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

Looking for the Hive help! DS will be 13 in December and has nothing on his Birthday/Christmas list unlike his sister who has circled every page in the Smyths catalogue! He is into skateboarding and parkour (and less so football but plays rather than follows any team) I have ordered the personalised football so thanks to PP for that idea but any other suggestions?

I have just looked at Nike as he loves a Hoodie - his previous hoodie is 50cm pit to pit and I can't work the size guide out on the website, would I be looking at Older Kids or Mens styles?

Apologies I feel very brain foggy today! And my phone had an update overnight and seems to have lost predictive text!

I made my first book nook! It was the Owl Bookshop and I got it from Temu for about £15. I kept in my basket until got offered a discount on it. We loved making it, all the kids want one now

Sorry to be a pain, could you link it or show a pic? I've searched owl book nook on there and there's a lot of owl stuff 😆 but not showing a book nook. Thanks

Greenturtle671 · 22/11/2025 11:04

What is a book nook please? Is it for small dolls?

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior ! I am loving these threads so much - relative newcomer to them and I tend to look during the day and not during weekend. I need to employ a thread butler to track those busy periods for me ;)

Thanks to Camel I got a Kindle yesterday from Amazon. Not a Xmas present but for my mum who has just been diagnosed with cancer. It's a bit niche I know but with her about to undergo weeks and weeks of chemo, if anyone has any suggestions for Xmas presents that might give be appropriate let me know.

Meanwhile I have given up hope that there will be any discounts on Switch 2 so browsing TopCashBack in the hope I can get it somewhere which will offer a bit back.

Lastly, by way of only offering so far today, lots of Rolife book books are reduced on Amazon. Not a huge reduction but this is a lovely kit for teens

Cashmere socks to keep her feet warm when she is in hospital.

@Moltenpink - Celtic & Co do some lovely knitted items made in the UK and XMAS25 takes £20 off any full price item. They had a made in Scotland cashmere headband the other day that came to just £9.95 and that was with postage. You may even be able to get something sent straight to her in China:

https://www.celticandco.com/

You could also look at sites like the NT website:

https://shop.nationaltrust.org.uk/gifts.html

Toast is another good call, (although a LOT of their stuff is made in China so you have to be careful). SOME of their small knitted accessories are made in the UK, for example, these:

You are amazing, thanks so much. It gets really cold where she lives. Posting it directly would be great!

@Solmum1964 if you’re buying for a hobby, I think quality is important. As a cyclist I’d recommend
Ice Breaker merino thermals
Heated gloves (sealskinz have a sale on at the moment)
Waterproof socks
Rechargeable pump

It’s sold out on Temu but the same one is available in various other places. Looks like it’s currently cheapest on Etsy

Elphaba17 · 22/11/2025 11:28

Thanks for the Celtic and co reminder, just got a cashmere ear warmer for £9.95 delivered.

really wanted to order some recycled cashmere fingerless gloves to go along with them too, but the colours on there are all too bold. Would need a more neutral muted tone. I know there was another seller recommended before if anyone could point me in the right direction?

VeruccaSalty · 22/11/2025 11:28

I don't know if can link from app but it's still showing for me

Image being reviewed by mumsnet apparently. Called charming bookstore DIY book nook under neath price £21.92

Greenturtle, it's a little model kit that you build yourself, comes with lights and everything, and then you can slide it into your bookcase between the books. It looks magical. New obsession unlocked. But I don't think you could squeeze a doll into it.

LittleMousewithcloggson · 22/11/2025 11:32

If anyone is shopping for Jellycats and has a blue light discount then try Waterstones first as the discount works on them there

@VisitingInkMonitor thank you so much. Thin is actually perfect and that was so much cheaper than the ones I had come across.

I have a feeling this will DS best present so thank you so much for helping me out!

I’m looking for band posters for dd. I got one from a local music shop for £5.99 which was about the price I had in mind. Unfortunately they only had one of her favourite bands. Online I seem to be only able to either get a3 which seems quite small or ££££ for larger.

The bands she is into are Muse, Royal Blood, My Chemical Romance and Foo Fighters.

Any suggestions would be great!

HMV instore have lots of large posters 2 for £10 - doesn't seem to be available online though.

HMV is our usual port of call, too for band posters. Forbidden Planet also do a range of band tees and posters if you have one near you. I live going with DD as it reminds me of my teens flicking through them myself (at HMV and the long gone Athena)

Glasgow Soap Company has lovely lip balms in tins, funky bars of soap and other toiletries in Christmassy scents like Mulled Wine or Gingerbread, or Irn bru for Scotland fans, or S’no Faerie Lush dupe.
Buy three, get one free.

They’re a small, family-run business making everything by hand in Scotland. I’m not affiliated in any way!

The stripy candy cane soap is really cute!

@stepfordwifey my sister set up this charity with a friend to supply bags for people with cancer having chemo to keep all their bits in during treatment.

I think you can request one online and just pay p&p.

With thanks to @RobinRedBird for the link to the McGuinans white wine on Amazon, this case of 6 black label Shiraz works out just over £22 on a “first subscribe and save” if you tick the coupon.

I’ve just ordered 3 cases. You have to set up a new subscription for each order to get the coupon applied on each.

Amazon subscribe and save are super easy to cancel. I do this every November and December to get additional discount on chocolates, wine, toiletry/cosmetic gifts because there are usually coupons like the one above, plus you get an extra 15% off if you have 5 or more items in your basket.

Re band posters - not sure if they have them on their online store but if you live near a Damaged Society shop they have a decent selection. Dd was eyeing up the My Chemical Romance one last weekend. Or if you’re near to Manchester and don’t mind IRL shopping there’s the best poster shop ever in Afflecks.
