This post is a work in progress and if you have any links you’d like to share or would be good to add then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of MN filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!
If you have any referral links then please post on this thread:

Can anyone recommend a good (but not too expensive) vinyl player for teens? Ideally with Bluetooth.l

Jess26385 · 20/11/2025 17:12

fruitfly3 · 20/11/2025 16:30

@Jess26385 thanks for the bracelet recommendation. My children would LOVE these. Quick question - when you look at the tracking, is it just a ma of where they are? Assuming you can’t see the animals or its surrounding?

No just just seen a world map and a line where they have travelled. But on the page it tells you all about your animal. It's name, gender, age etc and gives you info and facts. I imagine that children would get bored of checking the animals, but my girl is autistic and get really into things, how close to the shoreline the hammerhead is, how far it is swimming, if it is going into the deep, what this indicates for breeding behaviour, stats on level of endangerment etc. She is really into it.
My youngest also has some and enjoys the pretty brackets and occasionally checking if he has moved, when I remind her!

Anyone taking part in £1 oodie race tonight?

Southsiderg4 · 20/11/2025 17:22

I bought Carcassone, a board game, for my husband at the last Amazon prime day and it’s gone cheaper on Black Friday. I did live chat with an agent and they have kindly refunded the difference. I don’t think it’s policy or anything to do that, but worth a try if you have a similar experience!

Oodie sells 1000 oodies £1 each. Almost impossible to get one but fun for 1 minute

Thesoundofscience · 20/11/2025 17:47

@whoknows1230 I just had an advert pop up on Facebook for prelovedsofttoys.co.uk with a picture of the bashful giraffe. I have no experience of using them but I did a quick google and they seemed to have good reviews, plus offering 10% discount for signing up.

DS1 has asked for an eye-wateringly expensive LEGO for his birthday (the X-Men Mansion 76294)
Its available on Wilko, Disney Store, Game or Robert Dyas
Does anyone know of a code for any of those places at all please?
I’d normally say it’s out of budget but he’s had a hard year so I’d like to try

Actually, buying direct from Lego can be OK because from time to time to time they have offers with free gifts when you spend over x amount. They have one coming up this weekend if you join ‘Lego Insiders’ which is their reward points scheme. The free sets are not generally on general sale, so you can sell on eBay for a reasonable price.

They will probably do one again nearer Christmas with a free Christmas themed set as the free gift.

FurForksSake · 20/11/2025 18:00

Might be worth checking out topcashback or similar for cash back on the Lego store @EvilHerbivore looks like up to 11% but you’ll need to explore.

Ooh what’s this?

Ive just signed up for the £1 hoodie but haven't anyone to gift one to so im not going to bother trying to get one.
I'm trying to be more careful this year buying things for the sake of it (after sending lots of previously bought bargains to the charity shop in the summer to make space!)

Reastie · 20/11/2025 18:22

thanks for the messages guys. I'm so full of the Christmas spirit now! I made a Christmas cake at the weekend and I LOVED how much the house smelt of Christmas!

Can anyone help with a recommendation for one of those grabbing claw machines that actually works. I have seen so many different ones but many reviews are poor. Asking for a five year old who is desperate for Santa to bring him one.
Any help would be appreciated.

Someone previously recommended the gizmo one

DS1(6) got the one from Menkind. It's definitely hard, but it does work. Although it has a music track you can't turn off, so that's something to be aware of!

FurForksSake · 20/11/2025 18:50

Quick reminder - Amazon are sending things not in outer packaging always. Should be an option to ask for things to be in discrete packaging or whatever, but it is easy to miss. Thank goodness child 2 answered the door and hid the milk frother 🤣

cheesychipsontheoche · 20/11/2025 18:51

We got a claw machine from the Lidl aisle of shite a few years ago - works well but the worlds most annoying music. I’ve seen one advertised from flying tiger which looks quite decent

Sasha07 · 20/11/2025 18:58

We had a claw machine with obnoxious music when mine were little, stick some sellotape over the bit where the sound comes out and it helps to take the edge off it. (This applies to any annoying plastic toy sounds 😁) The kids can still hear it but it helps to mellow the violence inducing thoughts 🙉

nicky2512 · 20/11/2025 19:08

My Boots advantage card had 10% off over £25 which applied automatically to already reduced perfume AND gave £7 of points for spending over £70.

I signed up for the £1 oodie after I saw it on here and got a welcome email saying they would let me know about the £1 sale.

However, I signed up after 5pm so it's not working. Feeling a bit annoyed as I would probably have bought some items and had a go at getting the £1 oodie as a bit of fun.

Hey ho, I guess I kind of saved the money I would have spent.

IlovePond · 20/11/2025 19:20

@WhisperingAngelisnotbad - the Oodie competition was at 6pm sharp. I missed it too. Last year Oodie had some good BF bargains, but the ‘deals’ on offer today are worse than those from a couple of weeks ago, (when discount codes were working on top of reductions too!)

There may be better reductions later.

How do i get any offers at celtic & co please !?I have someone i need to buy the sheepskin insoles for.

its likely someone has replied already, but just incase XMAS25 will get you £20 off a full price item. No minimum spend. I got the insoles last year and the year before for just the price of postage!

hugsandpugs · 20/11/2025 14:17

For anyone who ordered the rugby boots when the glitch offer was on, I’ve just had an email to say Evri are expecting my parcel so looks like they are honouring the price but let’s see what arrives in a few days! 🤞

I'm rooting for you getting this order, @hugsandpugs !

PurpleSkittle · 20/11/2025 19:27

I'm a bit behind on the thread, so apologies if someone has already posted about this. TopCashBack are giving 30% cashback on orders from MyProtein today. MyProtein have an up to 70% sale on with an additional 10% off with code MORE (which is allowable with TopCashBack). Pretty good if you have gym bunnies to buy for - protein powders, supplements and exercise wear.
