I know baileys is popular and mulled wine.
I dont normally drink alcohol but would like to try something this year. What do you like? And any nice non alcoholic options?

I enjoy making cocktails, a double measure of Midori topped up with Prosecco is what I call the Grinch.

Asti Martini

Babycham 🦌

Cream Soda

Nigella Lawson puts gingerbread syrup (the kind you put in coffee) in prosecco and calls it 'Christmas in a glass'.

Tulipvase · 07/11/2025 19:49

I don’t know if it’s particularly Christmassy but from a recommendation from here, I like The King’s Ginger. My husband loves whisky and this is my equivalent.

Irish crème liqueur.
baileys is the most known, but there are some small distillery’s in Ireland who make ones that are even tastier. Check out Micil crème liqueur

RabbitsEatPancakes · 07/11/2025 19:57

Snowball all the way. One of the things that makes me look forward to Christmas.

Advacaat, lime and lemonade

Hayley1256 · 07/11/2025 19:58

Brandy hot chocolate, baileys coffee, port, snowballs, eggnog, M&S cranberry and clementine bucks fizz

A snowball!

Uricon2 · 07/11/2025 20:04

Sloe gin. Perhaps not if you don't drink much OP, have a dash with lemonade or tonic water

daisydalrymple · 07/11/2025 20:08

I’ve made a mocktail of equal parts cranberry and ginger beer, with a squeeze of fresh orange. All festive flavours!
if going alcoholic, I also love Prosecco topped up with cranberry instead of orange juice.

We don't drink and get Sparkling Tea or Rose Sparkling Tea usually.
Looks/feels very celebratory and is non alcoholic.

This year we also ordered Winter Sparkling Tea which turns out to be 5% vol.

I prefer mulled cider as I hate wine.

Irish creme or any kind of 'milky' alcohol drinks always feel Christmas-y.

ShaunaOfTheDead · 07/11/2025 20:17

Whisky Mac made long with a splash of ginger ale is our favourite, made with Jameson and Stones ginger wine.

Mudslide or Frozen Mudslide (coffee liqueur, baileys, cream or ice cream, vodka, chocolate sauce) - pudding in a glass!

Painkiller (rum, cream of coconut, pineapple and orange juices, freshly grated nutmeg) - Caribbean Christmas in a glass!

or sherry in a fancy glass schooner, for a quick and simple Christmas hit.

Blarn · 07/11/2025 20:23

Christmas for me will always be Harvey Wallbangers. Vodka, Galliano liqueur (vanilla, aniseed taste) and orange juice over ice. We stopped having them for breakfast when dd1 came along but now dc are older perhaps need to revive it. Bloody hard to get hold of Galliano now though.

But also, Baileys.

I went to The Ivy the other day and had a pomegranate and spiced pear bellini. I'm not a cocktail lover normally but it was gorgeous.

afaloren · 07/11/2025 20:47

A poinsettia! Prosecco, cranberry juice and triple sec/cointreau.

longtompot · 07/11/2025 21:26

This is lovely, and feels quite festive

We love making snowballs. It's something I had as a child, the pre made bottles, but they are so much better made from scratch, and not difficult either. We made them very weak for our kids, more lemonade than advocaat.

A version of this a warm one, usually had apres ski. Not tried it yet, but hope to this year (at home, never skied)

Marmalade martini recipe | Sainsbury`s Magazine

This Marmalade martini recipe is a zingy twist on a classic cocktail. If Paddington Bear drank cocktails, this would surely be his favourite!

Kir royale! It’s the correct colour for a Christmas cocktail I think!
