Christmas Ads 2025

Apologies if there is already a thread on this.
Just been on YouTube and many stores have already released Christmas adverts!
The big one,of course, is John Lewis which features a charity single Angel on the Tree by Sam Clegg.
It is designed to be a tearjerker and shows that Christmas is not just about physical presents, but love and loss, past and present. 😪

I saw the Asda one yesterday - about 900 times😠
Its Grinch based and it’s ok… but it was on every sodding ad break!

WilfredsPies · 03/11/2025 17:31

I’ve just seen a BFG one for Sainsbury’s. Didn’t they do that last year?

Brutallytired · 03/11/2025 17:37

That’s not the official JL ad- it’s inspired by their ads though

SomeFiggyPudding · 03/11/2025 17:42

The actual John Lewis one is out tomorrow I believe 🎄

barskits · 03/11/2025 17:54

Sick of the Asda Grinch one already. Creepy af.

TulipTuesday · 03/11/2025 18:01

Don’t like the Asda one at all.
Sainsburys - don’t like the BFG so don’t like that one either.

The one I do like so far is Lidl.

Not just me then? 👍

I am fed-up with it already and only 52 days of it to go😱

Why do they saturate us with these adverts so early - and so often??

TheDuchessPark · 03/11/2025 18:04

Ah not seen ANY yet but placemarking as I love a christmas advert!!

CatherinetheAverage · 03/11/2025 18:20

I watched the M&S food one on the train home this evening and wondered if they hadn't uploaded the wrong one as it's so similar to every other one from the last few years with Dawn French and her Christmas tree decoration doppelgänger and an excessive spread of overpriced scran.

I have a special hatred for Christmas ads that show vast tables crammed with ridiculous amounts of food. I know they want us to overspend and overconsume but I find it tone deaf and pretty distasteful in a cost of living crisis, so M&S gets the first 2025 Xmas ad thumbs down from me.

Keepoffmyartichokes · 03/11/2025 18:22

I'm not a fan of the Asda one, I find the Grinch creepy unless it's the newish cartoon. I am looking forward to the Aldi one though

fan783 · 03/11/2025 18:24

The Asda Grinch said 'spenny' and it immediately made me want to punch him in the face. Probably not a very Chrismassy thing to do though.

There was a similar thread last month when the M&S Food to Order slots went live. The general consensus was that M&S has absolutely no problem in selling their Christmas range as proved by the number of products which have already sold out.

There will always be some who struggle and some who don't. That doesn't mean that shops whose purpose is to sell expensive food ranges should advertise with a Christmas carrot just because some have different levels of disposable income.

CharlotteCChapel · 03/11/2025 19:29

Ive not seen any of the supermarket ones. This year they can't advertise junk food before the watershed

DuckboardandTowel · 03/11/2025 19:41

Ive seen sainsburys and Asda, looking forward to the aldi one tonight and JL tomorrow. Ive not seen the m&s one yet.

On the run up to Xmas I always watch Xmas ads of years gone by on youtube, I love them.

JenniferBooth · 03/11/2025 20:11

Aldi ad about to drop on ITV one

I dont think I have.. Will have to look for them.
Also did I miss the actual one or was the aldi one 10 seconds long - a love actually style proposal?

Edwinstarrihavefaithinyou · 03/11/2025 20:24

They're adverts to punt product regardless of content.
It's all about the £ notes nothing more or less.

mumofoneAloneandwell · 03/11/2025 20:24

Omg I haven't seen any! Hopefully i will when I watch This Morning tomorrow

Got corrie on now so will keep an eye out - need to see the John Lewis one at least

According to the Daily Record they have made three.

WildFlowerBees · 03/11/2025 23:54

Does anyone else hope JL has read the room this year and this years ad is actually Christmassy instead of telling us all how we need to behave? Last few years it’s felt really quite like virtue signalling.

1reason · 04/11/2025 05:26

Oops! Just discovered that the JL advert I saw on YouTube yesterday is not THE JL Christmas Ad 2025 ! It is only JL inspired!
Official JL ad is out today.
Feel like i have been scammed!

OP posts:
WildFlowerBees · 04/11/2025 06:13

Just seen the JL ad, it’s ok. Not a tear jerker.

Robinredbeast · 04/11/2025 07:06

Just seen the JL advert - what a load of rubbish. It’s so contrived and not really Christmassy at all. Why dos everything have to have a ‘message’ - it gets totally lost.

only good thing about it is the music.
