Christmas Ads 2025

Apologies if there is already a thread on this.
Just been on YouTube and many stores have already released Christmas adverts!
The big one,of course, is John Lewis which features a charity single Angel on the Tree by Sam Clegg.
It is designed to be a tearjerker and shows that Christmas is not just about physical presents, but love and loss, past and present. 😪

Just watched the JL one and think they have badly missed the mark with it. They seem to be aiming for a relatable and heartwarming reconnection between father and teenage son but I see a spoiled, self-absorbed man-baby whose family walk on eggshells around him. Ugh.

Keepoffmyartichokes · 04/11/2025 08:33

I liked the JL one, not as good as some years but as a parent with a 13 year old and watching them pull away as teens do it brought a tear.

Haven't seen the JL one yet but your comments remind me of the Mcdonalds one a few years ago, where the son is getting a bit too old for xmas but then comes back to it.
That made me well up, I could really relate.

Will have to comment back when I've seen JL one

Oh , I love that one , I re watch it so many times.
The stroppy young lad who only perks up when there's a McD on offer ( I'm sure they used my DS as a model )

I really like the Asda one. I know it's a bit cheesy and the song is a bit annoying, but the craftsmanship is amazing - no CGI, hours of make up, use of wires, dancers, lovely lighting and camera work. It must have taken days. And the kids are really cute.

I like the Morrisons one with the pickle kid as well.

I can’t figure out how to share it but the Shelter Christmas 2025 video has really moved me. I then found their 2023 video by searching on here and it was similarly moving.

I’ve never managed to catch the full JL one only the cut versio so a bit meh.
love the BFG Sainsbury’s one.
Hate the Asda one.
if I see the Argos one one more time I might just throw the remote at the tv. At one point it was on every ad break.
Bring on P3 of Kevin the carrot.

What do we think of the Waitrose one? I love it ❤️

Roseshavethorns · 17/11/2025 20:28

Has anyone seen the Tesco ad? Everyone sat around a table glowering at each other? It's awful.

Ohh is that the one where the older man says "I had an opinion?"

It's more true to life than the happy laughy family ones Xmas Wink

At least it’s the closest to realistic
this is probably the 1st year, since the “she’s me mam” advert, I’ve liked the Boots one
