When are you putting your tree up?

We are away for two weeks over Xmas- from 20/12.

Last year we didn't bother with tree etc but I want to this year.

When is too early to put it up and decorate? Keen to max out our benefit and enjoyment of the tree relative to effort!

Usually we like to on December 1st. First day of advent.

This year however as I feel a bit doom & gloom, I fancy putting it up earlier. Anyone else?

So why would you post on this thread?

Because she can?

Because she can?

But it’s about when you’re putting a tree up… so what’s the point if you’re not…

Historically and traditionally, it was always put up on the night time of Christmas Eve and down on 6th January - ya know, for the actual 12 days of Christmas. These days it seems to be a race to get it up as soon as summer ends and then to be the first to take it down on Boxing Day?!?!

Historically, the tradition was for evergreen Christmas decorations to remain up until February 2nd, which is Candlemass.

Normally put it up mid-Dec and take it down at Epiphany. Might do it a bit earlier this year, as I’ll be away for a few days mid-Dec!
