Either play it safe and stick to single colour silver or gold, or just go wild. It's a statement tree so can carry off a maximalist approach - odd baubles and decorations in rainbow colours

I would just do plain glass ones I think. Maybe a little touch of silver. The Range had lovely clear glass ones quite cheap.

Lots of pinks and pastels about this year. Lean into the colours or go for one colour. I like a traditional tree, but can see the one you've chosen is fun.

MrsWhites · 26/10/2025 10:01

I think I would just go wild with pinks, white, silver, pastels etc.

Would just steer clear of reds, dark greens, gold etc - basically anything dark or traditional.

PGmicstand · 26/10/2025 10:01

I'd go with dark colours to stand out: black, navy, gunmetal or dark green. And then accents in gold or copper.
I often find a lot of inspiration on Pinterest for things like this.

Lol. Not terribly festive but it did make me smile so enjoy.

Gold ones would work or hot pink. Just go full on kitsch... Enjoy!

ILoveCatsAndKittens · 26/10/2025 10:05

Thank you so much for all of the prompt replies!
Ive already got quite a few bright quirky decorations, maybe I should just stick with those then? Would be nice as they are decorations which all have sentimental value (holidays, specific memories and meanings).

Dunelm have a nice pastel wreath, so may go with pastel decorations around the room (to match the actual tree) and then brights on the tree. Do you think this will look ok?

I'll go for dark green. The tree is ...colourful, and a solid decoration colour will tone it down. 😊

I actually made some pom poms a few years ago from rainbow bright wool!!

We had to retire our Treetopia Rainbow tree last year after moving the living room around and it being too large tofit anywhere. I was so sad as I loved that tree! Really bright and unusual!

Exactly. Xmas decorations with sentimental attachment are the best at home. Otherwise, it's like having a department store tree. It's for you and what brings you pleasure at the end of the day. Not for anyone else to judge!

Go for it. Sounds nice.

Agree with pp. Dark/holly green and let the colour show through.

ILoveCatsAndKittens · 26/10/2025 12:05

The second link reminds me of the really old glass decorations my Gran used to have! Thank ylu for this, I shall be ordering!

@ILoveCatsAndKittens where's the tree from? Asking for a friend 😁

Fairydustand · 26/10/2025 23:10

How about a themed tree , say in multicoloured baubles.

sesquipedalian · 26/10/2025 23:14

OP, it’s a Christmas tree. Go wild. There’s no such thing as over-decoration. Go as quirky as you like - and don’t stint. You clearly like colour, so just go a bit mad!

How about taking it back for a refund ?

I've never seen anything so hideous since Hilda Ogden put on her floral pinny.

Failing that, you could leave it out in the back garden to amuse the Space Shuttle when they fly over.

Fairydustand · 26/10/2025 23:17

😆.. bit harsh..but I think it's quirky ,so she may as well go all out crazy decorating it
