Hello all!
Just wondering what colour theme decorations to use on this tree please?! Not sure if I've messed up buying it as I dont know what colour baubles will look ok?! 🙈

Thanks all!

Oh imo there’s nothing worse than a colour scheme matchy matchy Xmas tree. Since you’re obviously a fan of colour, just go wild and put on all kinds of random things that you and your family love!

ninjahamster · 26/10/2025 23:28

I would go black.

SophiaSW1 · 26/10/2025 23:29

I think I’d just put loads of lights on it. It’s like it’s already decorated

Embrace it

You need a load of kitsch stuff.

HoratioBum · 27/10/2025 03:46

I would completely lean into it with red, hot pink, orange and gold. None of this ‘ toning it down’ bollocks.

NJLX2021 · 27/10/2025 03:51

agree with those just saying just go for it.

I'd embrace the chaos and colour, fill it with colourful fun stuff and make a tree that is an explosion of colour.

Picpac876 · 27/10/2025 04:51

I'm thinking maybe pale blue? Though wouldn't offer a contrast, as such. Find what works for you and makes you happy I think this is a happy, unapologetic tree. A slight tropical vibe

@ILoveCatsAndKittens where's the tree from? Asking for a friend 😁

Its from Asda, £30. They do a wreath and garland to match!

How about taking it back for a refund ?

I've never seen anything so hideous since Hilda Ogden put on her floral pinny.

Failing that, you could leave it out in the back garden to amuse the Space Shuttle when they fly over.

You should have seen my previous tree then!! Far more "hideous" than the tree we now have!!
We are a neurodiverse family and love colour, not that I should have to explain our reasons for the tree 🙄🙄🙄

To be honest with a tree like that, you can surely use any colour baubles. It’s a hodge podge of different colours so anything goes

ILoveCatsAndKittens · 27/10/2025 07:04

Thank you so much for all of your ideas!! I think we will use the bright sentimental decorations we already have then add some more quirky brightness.....embrace the "hideousness" of it 😜

That's Fabulous tree! I loved our silver tree when I was a kid.

Snugglemonkey · 27/10/2025 09:49

Those would be lovely on it.

AmpleSwan · 27/10/2025 17:46

I would put in a vote for hot pink and gold (love the flamingos above). I like this a lot more than I would have expected to! I'm very much of the 'darling the theme is purple and champagne gold, that's yellow gold and it's going to clash' school of xmas decorating but I feel like your tree would fit right in to a Barbie Dream House circa 1976 and it makes me smile.

caringcarer · 27/10/2025 18:12

Not my cup of tea but silver might tone it down a bit.

Jan039 · 27/10/2025 18:34

That tree makes me happy, I love it OP! I see it and think candyfloss.

I think the tree is the decoration and so would have cold white lights and glass baubles.

Fairydustand · 27/10/2025 18:41

I adore the tree too and it reminds me of my Nans, silver and white tree from the 70's, which looked magical to me as a child, I would lay under it.I would add that my cousins, thought that was odd🤣🤣.Now I am tempted to try and get a White and silver tree .I have a green fibre optic. This rainbow tree is totally cute though.

FlorenceAgainstTheMachine · 28/10/2025 01:44

I actually love this tree. Might get it for the DC’s bedroom, they would love it.

So would a visit to the local tip !!

Love it. I’d disguise the pink base and green trunk as they distract the eye, maybe white fun fur or piles of wrapped boxes with pastel bows. Then go mad with sentimental and bright baubles. Then drench it head to foot in silver lametta and white or pastel fairy lights https://www.lights4fun.co.uk/products/1000-soft-multi-coloured-led-compact-lights

Great minds! Ive already got some Xmas paper to match as I want to put it on top of a present to raise it (make it look taller than it actually is!) So will cover the base.

Love the lametta idea thank you, hadn't thought of it so will be on the lookout for this!
