MaurineWayBack · 19/10/2025 18:13

Food is probably what is working best for dh…
So far I’ve had cheese (Wensleydale cheese), pies and puddings
Pies: https://www.yorkshirehandmadepies.co.uk
Puddings: https://georgieporgiespuddings.co.uk

So very traditional type of food iyswim.
Any other ideas of what could work well?

Works well for what?

A gift for DH? A meal? Your post isn’t very clear what you’re asking.

Dolallytats · 19/10/2025 18:32

What about a clootie dumpling??

It's a traditional Scottish fruit pudding, like Christmas pudding but lighter. My husband loves them, I have to get him one every year!!

Dolallytats · 20/10/2025 11:55

There are also lots of charcuterie gifts that may be an idea.

Can you buy them? Where? My late Mum used to make me one instead of a birthday cake. I’d like to try it again but not sure I could make one.

Dolallytats · 20/10/2025 12:12

You can get them from loads of places online, even Amazon, but that always feels wrong!! I like to buy mine from Scotland (im in london)
I usually get mine from Speyside centre, but I dont need one this year, my mum has already bought one for me.

FlippityFloppityFlump · 20/10/2025 12:13

What about scotch eggs? I've bought a selection of them from a scotch egg company before as a present for DH

LandSharksAnonymous · 20/10/2025 12:18

What's your budget? Fortnum and Mason do some absolutely lovely biscuits and chutneys (I send a package to DH every year) and quite unique tea/coffee blends.

Forgottenmyphone · 20/10/2025 13:57

How about a selection of flapjacks from Brynmoor, or pork crackling from The Snaffling Pig.

Forgottenmyphone · 20/10/2025 14:00

Oat Pantry does the most amazing flavours of porridge. They’ve got a limited edition mince pie flavour atm. They’re nicely presented too.

Thanks. I’ve looked at the Speyside website. Hmm… looks nice. But big!

Oh thank you for all those ideas! The scotch egg idea and pork cracklings are excellent ideas too!

@MaurineWayBack F&M for yourself then...as a reward for putting so much effort into searching for DHs Christmas presents😀

MaurineWayBack · 20/10/2025 14:49

@LandSharksAnonymous
Now that’s an idea I can get in board 😁😁

Truffles?

I’ve just bought from the Truffle Guys and they have some nice boxed sets. Also have 20% off at the moment.

BettyBettyBoop · 20/10/2025 15:20

Just wanted to say that the Yorkshire handmade pies are bloody delicious! we always buy three boxes at xmas, one for us, one for MIL and FIL and one for my parents- always go down a treat!

Leeds2 · 20/10/2025 15:29

Butter Bike have some nice peanut butters.

I can't remember the name of the company, but I have bought my dad a large pork pie which had his name on the top in pastry (easily googleable).

Pastry products from Piglet's Pantry are always nice.

MaurineWayBack · 20/10/2025 17:51

@sueelleker they have a cheese and ale hamper that would probably work really too. Thank you!
