This post is a work in process and if you have any links you’d like to share or would be good to add then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of mn filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

If you have any referral links then please post on this thread https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212180-bargain-referrals-thread-7 and share around the joy/referral perks.

Hope you're all well. I've just put in a big Temu order for stocking bits and bits for work. They gave me £8 off my next order yesterday as two orders I had are arriving late and, when I contacted customer services about something, they also gave me a 20% off voucher, so I saved £20 on my order!

Does anyone know if they’ll be bringing out KPop Demon Hunters dolls out (Barbie-style)? Seems strange that a toy company hasn’t picked this up as they’d surely sell out!

I agree with this wholeheartedly. I know The Entertainer sent an email round the other day saying they had toys to preorder but a funko isn’t a toy in our house. Tempted to get a Barbie and dye her hair purple myself

hugsandpugs · 12/10/2025 10:28

10% off selected toys at Argos with the code above if anyone can make use of it. Needs to be used by 13/10/25 at midnight

I imagine there will definitely be a toy range but it's just a bit soon. I was saying this about the funkos as we were going to get one but it's not really a toy to play with as such.

Boots has discounts on some heated throws. I’ve just bought the Dreamland herringbone throw for my dd, used student discount and it was around £64, much more expensive than when I’ve bought the same one in the past but they are very nice and they do sell out as it gets colder. I also had an advantage card off for an extra £4 of points.

I know this isn't strictly Christmas, but I've been invited to a 70th birthday party. My friend isn't 'girly' and doesn't want booze or candles, so I'm struggling a bit for ideas.

Massage voucher
Restaurant or coffee voucher

lifelongfrugaleer · 12/10/2025 11:35

@MaryGreenhill wilkos are also now part of the range. Could be worth a look there

Tirednamechange · 12/10/2025 11:43

What candles do people recommend? Go to is always yankee but they are so expensive I wondered if people had some that are less expensive but just as good? Thank you

I’ve just been to a 70th and got them a lovely plant in a ceramic pot from M&S

What scents do you like?

The seller that I recommend (who a few others on MN have used and also like) tends to do Christmas Scents and/or Jo Malone Dupes? Different sellers tend to sell different types of scents!

Toooldforlonghair · 12/10/2025 11:56

Knowledgeable ladies of MN I need your help please?
DD (age 25) has had a major flare up of her eczema during the last year so I am looking for recommmendations for toiletries, make-up etc. Looking for stuff that doesn't look 'clinical' so price is not important. I just want her to be able to indulge herself as she has always loved beauty stuff. Ideally we could get some sample products to try first. Perfume is not a problem and she can just squirt it onto her clothes. Has anyone any suggestions please?.Price is not an issue I just want to help her feel good again.

Thank-you

PS Love these threads. Thanks to the original posters.

Sweet smells, I love the vanilla creme brulee yankee candle. I do love a christmas scent but not all year round.

HeatingFiddler · 12/10/2025 12:33

@Tirednamechange I've PMd you a link. For some reason it wouldn't let me post here

FurForksSake · 12/10/2025 12:36

@HeatingFiddler can you share the name? Are they on Etsy?

tabbycat985 · 12/10/2025 12:38

re Barbie dream house, I bought ours for £96 from Frasers last year which was the cheapest I’ve ever seen it. BUT if your child isn’t precious about the extra little tiny bits (cutlery, toothbrushes, etc) that come with it, I’d 100% recommend purchasing second hand. It’s a whole lot of plastic & it’s huge so you will feel a lot less guilty if your child isn’t playing with it by summer😅
Guess who didn’t read the measurements before buying😂

It's the same shop as before! As you can probably tell I absolutely love her scents😂

hugsandpugs · 12/10/2025 13:17

Has anyone used a company called bubble & bathe? Thinking of placing an order for gifts as they have a few bits I like in their sale

I have eczema. Mine is triggered by stress and bye a substance called lye which is in soap and other foaming beauty products. I can use all Dove products as they are not actually soaps made with but what is called a ' synthetic detergent.' you can Google these but they do all tend to be ' clinical ' as you say.

A brand I live is QandA. They're a reasonable price but well thought of being beauty experts - a bit like brands like The Ordinary which are reasonable but use quality ingredients. They're also family run and British based I believe and use no mineral oils and are cruelty free.

I like their Hyaluronic acid range. They usually do a gift set around Christmas. There are a few foaming products and I avoid those because I usually can't use them but they might be fine too. They do skincare and body care. The body care stuff is available at Boots. Holland and Barrett stock the whole range.

hugsandpugs · 12/10/2025 13:46

@Toooldforlonghair moogoo is good for eczema prone skin! 😊

hugsandpugs · 12/10/2025 13:47

Worth checking John Lewis rewards on the app. I signed up last year but never actually ordered anything. When I had a look at my app I had £5 off with a minimum spend of £5 so I ordered 100 tealights for free! Just paid to have them sent to a local shop for collection which worked out cheaper than home delivery so had them for £2.95 including p&p

I ordered shower bombs from them a few years ago and they were good quality , smelling and fast delivery. No complaints and something different from the usual bath bombs and especially for those who has skin issues but could still enjoy the idea of a “bomb”
