This post is a work in process and if you have any links you’d like to share or would be good to add then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of mn filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

If you have any referral links then please post on this thread https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212180-bargain-referrals-thread-7 and share around the joy/referral perks.

There’s 20% off Tu clothing at Sainsbury’s and Lidl are starting their wooden toy sale on Thursday I think. If you get their app you can get 20% off.

Thank you, I have been waiting for TU 20% off and I have just done a big pyjama order.

FallingIntoAutumn · 08/10/2025 10:02

@gingerbreadmumm weve got the levazza one from these threads about 4 years ago (also does cold). Used every day in the winter. I think there’s so many now that do the same thing you don’t need to spend hotel chocolate money, unless you want to.

Arthien · 08/10/2025 10:10

Apologies for the requests, but I also need to find some nice silver drop earrings for my 67-year old mum. Hot Diamonds doesn't seem to have their usual mega-deal offers on at the mo, so any recommendations for nice but affordable places to look would be good - I'm never sure how much on Etsy is just Chinese drop-shipped stuff these days. Budget £20-30. Thanks for all your help!

Hi,

i have a PS5 (disc version) and another controller to buy this year.

Argos currently have the disc one down in price to £425. Do you think this will come down any lower? Should I wait for Black Friday or get it now?
Any help with this or the controller is appreciated!
Thank you.

I'm interested but in this too as it's on our to buy list

ArthurChristmas22 · 08/10/2025 10:36

@gingerbreadmumm @FallingIntoAutumn I feel like I am becoming a frother nerd..... We also have the Lavazza and it is amazing and has the additional feature of cold as well as hot frothing. You won't know you need this in your life until you want to make cold chocolate or coffees in the summer!
However, the Lavazza doesn't cope with proper chocolate flakes as it blocks the small wiring frother. The true hot chocolate frothers have an additional system above this to stop the blocking (literally looks at about 15 frothers over the last two weeks!).
So, the current best ones (IMO) are the new Velvetiser (more costly) or potentially the Salter Chocolatier (recommended on here). I haven't used either and am currently dithering for my DD, who has just started Uni. She has just come home for the weekend and stated that she's really missing her hot chocolates (doesn't drink tea or coffee!) so I feel I need to just buy one!

ArthurChristmas22 · 08/10/2025 10:38

On Ps5, also looking at this for DS! I think John Lewis has them at £329 and then you'd also get extended warranty?

RainbowZebraWarrior · 08/10/2025 11:03

BananaPeachPie · 08/10/2025 06:30

Yes! Ours is 2 years old and used daily. My children can use it independently, including my 7 year old. You can use the fancy chocolate flakes, which are delicious, but the powder works just as well.

I read that quickly and thought you said your 2 year old uses it daily independently. 🙈

My contribution.to the Prime deals:

Great Kitchen aid tongs half price

The Good old kitchen aid scissors are also on offer. Not quite as good as the past couple of years, but still a good deal at £6.49

Sorry my phone is playing up and won't link, but Google kitchen aid tongs / scissors and they pop straight up

ThumbelinaPocket · 08/10/2025 11:16

Do any of the hot chocolate makers take a powder well?

When my mum comes to stay she has cocoa, and I like a hot chocolate. I believe the velvetiser only works with flakes? Would love something a bit more versatile. Thanks x

ThumbelinaPocket · 08/10/2025 11:20

I often forget about Debenhams now they are online, but they often have cracking prices, a wide range of stuff and are on topcashback.

I only use powder in my velvetiser as I don't like their flakes

Does anyone have a code for Procook? Want to get some champagne glasses for a friend’s gift.

If anyone has a uni days account, WHsmith are doing 20% off over the next 4 days (includes sale). They do have some Lego in the sale so worth a look. Free delivery over £30 too!

I’ve just managed to order 2 x Charlie Mackesy’s new book. One for me and one for a friend for Xmas. I’ll be meeting him after an event this month so will be able to get them both signed 🥰 also got Newton faulkners new vinyl album.

Thanks @hugsandpugs . Managed to get 2 x new sports autobiography books I had my eye on for DH (one signed), Jamie Oliver's new book, plus 3 books from my tween DD's current favourite author for £67. Did a quick check and couldn't see the ones for DH cheaper elsewhere and then the added bonus of the unidays discount too was great.

It works fine with powder

jocktamsonsbairn · 08/10/2025 12:13

I had terrible problems with Debenhams last year. The customer service was absolutely shocking, they sent me (and charged me) for my order twice and made me send every item back (to the same retailer) individually even though all the parcels were going to the same address. It was so stressful and I have vowed never to shop there again!!

Londonmummy66 · 08/10/2025 12:23

ETA this is for @BionicEar

I'd go for an adjustable set that has a number of plates at different weights and the option of hand grips or a barbell - Decathlon has several but MN won't let me link at the moment

It allows for progression and a wider range of exercises.

imnottoofussed · 08/10/2025 12:25

@Donsybtheres one on the referrals thread for pro cook

hby9628 · 08/10/2025 12:30

I’ve had probs with Debenhams too. I ordered something that broke the first time it was used. I couldn’t find a way to
do a return online & customer service never responded to me. It wasn’t expensive but it was annoying. I used to love Debenhams when they had physical shops.

I like Nue hoops - the idea is you buy a pair of hoops from small to large - and then can select interchangeable charms to go on them. I have a pair of gold hoops and a pair of silver ones and usually find a pair of charms in my stocking each year to ring the changes. Its a lovely small business that was bought out by one of its employees a little while ago nuehoops.com/?srsltid=AfmBOorlxG1QOQBJWQqH2iJsEiHma3KgZf0sli313E9-ZjmTkJH8IOdQ

Sorry to be a pain, does anyone have a mountain warehouse code?
I bought a coat in the sale with a 20% voucher and it doesn’t fit, so I’ve had to return it and have to buy in another size, but no sale and no 20% off voucher 😫
