This post is a work in process and if you have any links you’d like to share or would be good to add then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of mn filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

If you have any referral links then please post on this thread https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212180-bargain-referrals-thread-7 and share around the joy/referral perks.

There’s a fab sale on at Boux Avenue including Christmas jumpers, play suits etc. I’ve got a 20% off link which offers me 20% off my next order so I’ll put it in referrals as it does offer me that. You get 20% with BLC anyway.

I bought DS6 a Regatta one on Amazon that is £26 at the moment. It’s lovely, and has Velcro adjustable wrists so the sleeves don’t drown him. I got the 5-9 yrs, he’s in some 5-6yr clothes still it reaches mid calf on him.

Thank you! I’ll look into these - a much better price and good to hear that you’d recommend as I wasn’t sure if there’s a big compromise on quality. The Dryrobe ones seem very expensive and dare I say over priced!?

If the brand doesn’t matter all three of my DC have the regatta ones and they are fab! Currently £25-30 depending on size on Amazon!

Thank you,,that’s two recommendations for these so will definitely look into it… Not bothered about brand as long as good quality and really warm for the beach post UK sea!

Has anyone spotted a marble run- that uses a small ball or something that isn’t a marble.

on previous thread someone’s neighbour toddler had died from swelling a marble so it must not contain marble if possible. Thanks 🙏

We have the Connectix magnatiles Ball run . DD is 4 and still needs help but really likes it. I think there are a lot of dupes out there now. This one has good sized wooden balls.

Otherwise Hape do a nice wooden one with large balls - Hape Kullerbu.

Neither are particularly bargainus I'm afraid but managed to get a bit of a discount around Black Friday. For Hape I'd say Vinted is a good shout.

I don't personally have experience of this but it was recommended here last year. Little Kodak photo printer for mobile phones, think it's been at £99 recently down to £69.99 for prime day. I've risked it as I don't think will get something like this much cheaper and I know dd will love it https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08FST3H95

Oh I got this for me for Christmas last year! I did a lot of research and the price per print was by far the best value.

The downside to it is that I don't find the app particularly amazing to use, it's not easy to edit or add fun stickers and there are only 3 or 4 (very random) borders- but what I really wanted it for was the occasional print out of a picture of the kids to put in my purse or give to their friends etc so it has suited my needs perfectly and being able to get 60 prints for £17.99 is ideal!

How do you make the cards please?! Weve got 2 blank ones and ive no idea how to put our own stories (not from yoto website) on, im rubbish with technology!!

On the yoto app, go to Create, then there should be a Make a playlist option. You can add audio files from your device into a playlist and save it. Next step, the playlist should show in your library. There will be an option to link to a card, select that and follow the instructions.

I hope that all makes sense! The yoto website is has some good guidance if I remember correctly.

My DS loves his yoto, and the majority of our content is library books on myo cards.

Ooh we have MYO cards coming out of our ears (nearly 9yo twins who fall asleep each night to audio books or a MYO of my husband reading stories from when they were little)!

You get an MP3 or M4A file of your audio book or music that you want to add to the yoto card.

On your phone, go to the yoto app, hit "create" and then select "make a playlist".

You name the playlist and then import the audio files using the "add audio files" button.

Once you've added all the audio files you want you can then find this new playlist within "library" and then "playlists".

To link to a MYO card you click on the playlist and then scroll down and hit "link to a card", it'll then prompt you to add a MYO card to your Yoto and it'll write the content to a card.

You can also do it on a desktop computer or tablet.

If you have any other questions just ask (or DM) and I'll be happy to talk you through it!

We use our velvetiser loads. It heats up the milk and chocolate while whizzing it up so you get it mixed well and a little layer of froth on the top. It does it really fast and is always perfect temperature so much less fuss than heating in a pan or microwave.

They are very easy to clean. Fill with water and add a few drops of washing up liquid and turn it back on. Rinse then back in the cupboard.

You don’t have to use the Hotel Chocolat flakes, we like the Twinnings hot chocolate powder best.

If you like iced drinks they have a newer version out this year that does hot and cold but I haven’t tried that so not sure if it’s good.

Just ordered 3 sets of pyjamas for £27.

@gingerbreadmummmy DD loves her hot chocolate shaker, and it’s dead easy to use. warm milk in jug in microwave, put chocolate in shaker, add milk, put lid on and shake.
I think I got hers from The Chocolate Society after seeing them here - but Knoops also do them.
think they’re about 25 quid - but am sure when I got DDs there was some kind of deal for buying 2

Honestly our most used gadget. I bought it for my kids one Christmas and we use it plenty. Used it today to make a latte (just put coffee in stead of hot choc), and some hot choc. We use any type of choc powder - the Starbucks tin or nesquick. The velvetiser heats the milk up and also froths it so it really is a velvety texture. Very indulgent treat. I love it because it’s so easy and safe for kids to use themselves, and really easy to clean. Expensive, but we’ve got our moneys worth.

DS14 has asked for some weights for Christmas.

Can anyone recommend weighs that would be suitable for a waif teen boy? Think he’s hoping it will turn him into a tall burly man! 😂

As he’ll be a beginner, are there any weights that would be suitable for him? Wanting something that is reasonably priced, given that I’m not sure how committed he will be long term.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
