This isn't a thing I or my family have ever done. But online, I see that some people do. Do you?

Yes! I love Yorkshire puddings. For Christmas I buy frozen ones (they might be aunt Bessie’s). They take five minutes in the oven after you’ve taken the turkey out. For other roasts I make my own yorkshires but there’s too much to do on Christmas day.

Yes, this is what I do too. And the yorkies are by popular request.

DramaAlpaca · 30/09/2025 17:39

Yes, but only if eldest DS is home to make them. I can't make YPs to save my life, and DS has tried to teach me many times. Somehow, at Christmas, Aunt Bessie's don't quite cut it but they'll do in an emergency.

Indeed a triumphant moment!

Problem with making Yorkshire pudding on xmas day - is the electric is running low and the heat of the oven is not as high as another day. ive found xmas day Yorkshires aren't as risen so make them the previous day due to this. Gas supply maybe different

PeacefulHouse · 30/09/2025 17:40

We used to when I was a child but they were the starter (traditional in Yorkshire, served in thick slices with gravy, none of this little Yorkshires on the side nonsense

We did too. My Dad used to say "Them that can eat the most Yorkshire Pudding can have the most meat" Obviously those that ate the most Yorkshire Pudding were too full to eat much meat. Mean grown up tricks.

Happyholidays78 · 30/09/2025 17:41

Another family that have Yorkshire puddings with any roast meat, I buy them ready made though. My nanny was from Yorkshire & her homade Yorkie puds were the best ever, she always saved me one to have with warm syrup for pudding, I miss her x

FlatErica · 30/09/2025 17:41

No, because I’m not a barbarian!

susiedaisy1912 · 30/09/2025 17:42

Yes

SliceofTosst · 30/09/2025 17:25

No.
I like Christmas dinner to be different from a general roast. This year I might do goose with red cabbage so it's not like a normal Sunday dinner.

We have Yorkshires with goose 😳

dontforgetme · 30/09/2025 17:43

Yes, every single roast we do. I also serve them with stew, sausage and mash, cottage pie basically anything with gravy Grin

Ineedtoseetobelieve32 · 30/09/2025 17:43

Yes - we love them!

thesugarbumfairy · 30/09/2025 17:43

Yes. I serve them with any kind of 'Sunday dinner'. Because they belong on everything! Xmas dinner is the same as any roast dinner I make. But with sausage meat stuffing as well because we can't get it any other time of year.

I have my oven up at 240, seems to work.

Megapint · 30/09/2025 17:45

Yes, I serve it with all roasts and anything that is served with gravy.

ChocolateCinderToffee · 30/09/2025 17:48

Yes, but I'm generally eating beef. Don't like turkey.

tragichero · 30/09/2025 17:49

Yes, if we are having a roast! (Think we will have lobster or some other seafood this year, as it's only three of us and the other two are obsessed with seafood).

I include Yorkshire's in any roast I cook, I love them.

And I think a Christmas roast is all about a wide range of trimmings.....

It's more likely to be the amount of stuff you've got in the oven that's the problem, and the number of times you're opening the door.

H202too · 30/09/2025 17:50

Yes as I don't like meat or substitutes

And I think my oven gets ‘humid’ for want of a better word.

Tiuriwiththewhiteshield · 30/09/2025 17:51

Yes! We love them and are not fussed with which meat/veggie alternative we eat them - home made 😋

Anjo2011 · 30/09/2025 17:52

Yes! With every roast dinner .

Ewock · 30/09/2025 17:53

We do, but we have them with all roasts. At xmas I usually do frozen ones as easier.

youve987456 · 30/09/2025 17:53

Hell fucking yes! My dinner would be ruined without them.
You can make them on the day or beforehand. They are easy to do, you just need a hot oven and the oil in the pan to be hot.

tragichero · 30/09/2025 17:57

Cyclebabble · 30/09/2025 17:30

Ok, so I “do” Yorkshire Puds at Xmas, but with a lot of help from my Auntie Bessie if you know what I mean. I think this is quite common?

I have been known to make my own, but I have also used ready made ones often.

Tho I do think ready made are different from home made, both are nice. Pushed to choose I prefer home made, but if there is a lot of stress in the kitchen already, I don't think it's worth introducing added pressure. (Yorkshire's can go really wrong .....)

I am certainly not snobby about these things, and don't really understand those who are....

Tana433 · 30/09/2025 17:58

Yes, we have them with every roast dinner regardless of the meat served. I buy the ready to cook ones from Aunt Bessies which is just a frozen disc of batter in a foil round which takes 30 mins to cook to perfectly risen perfection!
