Teen Girl (14) Gift Ideas not into beauty or clothes

WinchSparkle80 · 29/09/2025 06:03

Good Morning, I hope someone might have some suitable gift ideas for my lovely daughter. She isn’t into beauty/hair/make up.
She is autistic if that makes any difference so not into uncomfortable clothes or bright lights,

She is really into Japanese anime/manga and all I can think of is the Demon Slayer books - so will get here some more of those.

Ava Max is another love but she cancelled her gigs :-(

Any ideas would be particularly welcome. She is such a beautiful soul, never asks or wants anything. I really don’t want to give her money or vouchers as she never spends it.

Huge thanks in advance

Have a browse on Etsy. Lots of anime themed gifts.
There are Ava Max gifts on there too.
Would she like an Oodie, Slanket or themed weighted blanket?

Thank you, this is a great idea. She definitely might like a weighted blanket

Lego flowers
Sensory toys like a needoh drop
Tshirt, badges, notebook or stickers relating to her favourite anime characters
Manga graphic novel
Japanese food/snacks
Noise cancelling headphones

Rockhoppperd · 29/09/2025 07:57

How about a mini Japanese zen garden? Amazon have loads of different ones. My son really likes Displates too - metal Posters - lots of different styles to choose from. He has a Japanese warrior
one and a demon slayer one.

LlamaNoDrama · 29/09/2025 08:01

Adult colouring books or craft starter kits? There's some great books on how to draw anime if she'd enjoy that. There might even be adult anime colouring ones too.

Newfigtree · 29/09/2025 08:08

Perfume sample set.

FatLarrysBanned · 29/09/2025 08:08

DD15 very similar. She gets overwhelmed by lots of gifts. Her favourite last year was a mini printer which printed on a roll of sticky paper. Connected to her phone via Bluetooth.

She also liked a mini bedside projector which displayed a soothing seascape/waves effect on her bedroom ceiling.

DD is 17 now, ASD, ADHD, and has never been into clothes or makeup. She has an obsession with tshirts though. She loves Lego, so I have bought her several different sets over the years. Harry Potter, Wednesday, Disney etc.

WinchSparkle80 · 29/09/2025 10:24

Thank you all, these are wonderful ideas 🥰

Comedycook · 29/09/2025 10:29

My DD is 15 and likes the Lego flowers and the Lego postcards of various cities.

Diamond art set

Journals and nice stationery

Nice felt pen sets and a grown up colouring book

Lava lamp

Cosy slippers and a comfy dressing gown

GnomeDePlume · 29/09/2025 10:35

Sashiko (Japanese stitching/embroidery) starter kit.

I have one of the label makers described by @FatLarrysBanned , it is sooo useful.

Could she be tempted by sewing, depending on budget would a sewing machine be useful?

Does she already have really good quality pens/pencils for drawing.

A light box for tracing.

An airbrush. DS swore blind he didn't want one. I got him an entry level one and now he has upgraded at his own expense.

Hey OP 🖐️ …
Happy birthday to your girl 🎈 , she sounds Fab ☺️..
Would she like tickets for you & her to Japanese gardens for a day out , something nice to eat after X

6thformoptions · 29/09/2025 10:38

My dd asked for a CD player - it's a popular thing atm as the 90's is so retro and most of the new ones have Bluetooth so you can also use Spotify on them. Dd now has a little CD collection, so you have presents for the future lined up too!

Agree weighted blanket, oodie and also those fluffy boot slippers for around the house.

wantmorenow · 29/09/2025 10:42

Manga pens are awesome colouring pens especially for drawing manga animé art. Not cheap but they are fabulous and very grown up.

Board game
Diary or journal
Sketch book
Craft kit e.g. knitting, crocheting
Cookery book
Try a new manga series - ask in a bookshop

clary · 29/09/2025 11:02

Loads of good ideas here.

My dd is also ND and also not into clothes or makeup.

I got her a weighted blanket and she loves it so this is a good idea. Hers has a removable cover so we can wash that. (bit of a PITA but better than washing the whole thing!)

Re clothes - how about some that she does like eg outsize hoodie, t shirt with fave character (dd has a Gromit T she loves).

Other ideas:
Books
Shoes like Converse
Headphones
Washi tape
Cute crochet items
Cuddlies (IKEA shark popular here)

tragichero · 29/09/2025 20:00

Other than the fact that she doesn't have autism, my lovely dd sounds very similar to your lovely one!

Here is what she is getting in intricate detail, in case it helps:

My DD is quite a mature 13, artistic, a bit alternative, likes rock music, films (especially horror) and anime. I don't have loads of money, but I do spread the purchase of her gifts over several months - I love Christmas and my daughter, and giving her things she will love gives me great pleasure.

We don't do Xmas Eve boxes or anything like that. She does get a reusable advent calendar with little pockets I fill - this year it is mostly anime pins and keyrings; a few other random pins from charities etc; and there is a little animal shaped lip balm in there and a Xmas tree ornament shaped like the animal of her birth year in the Chinese calendar.

We don't so separate stockings so the following are all her Xmas gifts (they will be stuffed into a pillow case).

Main gifts:
Warhammer painting and tools kit
Large Warhammer figure kit.
(She has expressed a desire for this stuff when we did a beginners' painting workshop at a Warhammer store this summer).

Other gifts:

A beautiful book of classic poems illustrated in an anime style (she doesn't want this particularly but I want her to have it!)

A couple of anime books she requested.

The following anime merch (various series/characters):
T-shirt
Hoodie
Towel
Cushion
2x plastic figures
Small plush
Notebook
Art print

Makeup bag featuring characters from a TV series we like

Squid Game top trumps
Squid Game socks

Yung Blud t-shirt

Small bunny shaped lamp from a charity shop

Silver earrings from a charity shop

Black Primark fleece

Small spider plush

A couple of face packs

A couple of fidgets

Fake Dubai Chocolate from B and M

A few random bits for the dolls house she and I intend to do up as a haunted mansion as a winter art project.

She will also get gifts from various members of my side of the family. I don't know what they will all get her, but have asked either my brother or mom to get her a record player, and we are planning to ask my cousin (who never knows what to buy) to get Amazon vouchers.

She will also get separate presents from her dad (we are not together, tho will spend Xmas morning together) and all his side of the family. All I know so far is that her dad has got her some art supplies and a t-shirt.

She's a lucky girl! But she is a lovely person who works fucking hard and has had a brutal year friendship-wise, but has conducted herself with nothing but dignity, compassion and grace in the face of appalling provocation. I would give her the world of it was in my power to do so and she wanted it!

WeNeedToTalkAboutIT · 29/09/2025 20:04

Is she into art and craft?

ComfortFoodCafe · 29/09/2025 20:06

Get her some mangas of her favourite animes.
anime posters. Cos play costume? Comiccon tickets for next year?

tragichero · 29/09/2025 20:15

Sorry, just reread your post again, and possibly you don't know that much about manga/anime? Which is entirely reasonable - but it's a vast and complex field so it can be hard to know what to buy.

I know a little about is as I am also an English teacher and it's many of my students greatest love! And I do like some of it myself.

Does you daughter like other series than Demon Slayer, do you know? It might be worth just getting her to write a list of her favourite characters, series.

Then, if you are near to a big city, they may have specific anime shops (we have a Tokyo Toys in Birmingham for example, which is the one I am specifically thinking of). If you go in when it is quiet and tell them her favourite series, characters, the staff should be able to guide you to appropriate merchandise for the series she likes?

Or if you prefer to shop on line you can get loads of it there, in Amazon for example. There is every merch item you can think of - cushions, towels, t-shirts, stationary items, stickers - honestly, everything anybody's heart could desire and more! My daughter recently bought herself a pair of earrings which are exact replicas of the enamel ones the main guy (whose name I forget) in Demon Slayer wears.....

And it's not all insanely expensive. We have a lot of aninme posters up in our flat, for example, that were only £4 each, and in a cheap frame I think they look great.

Funkopops (which you have probably heard of - if not a quick Google will make it clear) do loads of anime figures (they do pretty much everything!) and stores like Menkind have a whole bunch of these, often on offer.....

And the great thing about the books is that there are approx 1928473812 in each series! So you are bound to find some she doesn't have....

I was just going to suggest this. And some good quality pens to go with it.

Fidget toys/ear defenders/seam free clothing/chew necklace/clicker/spin rings, lava lamp, anything else that might be a useful coping strategy?
