I don’t use this but Superdrug are having a £5 Friday and the Dr. Eve rejuvenating eye pads are down to £5 instead of £35.
looks like it’s a deal for today only.

Do any of you clever people have any tips on Thomas (and friends) trains that run on wooden train tracks?

My son is obsessed with a kid on YouTube who has every train and track piece ever made!

The Dunelm “teddy bear” ones are very soft and fluffy

I agree with the Dunelm ones but they really don’t wash well and my son got really upset that his lost it’s softness when I washed it.

fishfingersandchipsagain · 26/09/2025 12:55

Sorry to hear that @BananaPeachPie it might be the luck of the draw or the washing machine. We’ve washed ours (well, the kid’s ones - I am not keen on them personally) on a wool cycle and air dry, and they’re as good as new after about 10 washes.

BananaPeachPie · 26/09/2025 12:57

Hello. My 12 year old has just started to show an interest in skin care and I wondered if Byoma would be a good call? I think someone posted an offer on their products if anyone can remember?

I’m glad yours is still going strong. It is probably my lack of domestic skills.

It's not kids toys play is it? DS used to be obsessed with it, they had so many train toys!

You can get brio thomas trains. They're quite pricey new so we got most of ours second hand from Ebay and Facebook market place.

Just want to say, regarding the teddy bear type material (also with Oodies) they keep their fluffiness far better if washed on a cool/cold wash. As far as my understanding, they're made from a fleece/polyester mix, polyester being a kind of plastic, so any heat will make it matted quicker. Mild detergent/air dry rather than using a dryer (unless it has a cool setting.)

We had exactly this a few years ago

The trains you're looking for are diecast ones and they're pretty rare and expensive

The Lego stitch angel is half price there too, just less than £30 rather than just less than £60 - I thought someone might have already shared that recently though?

Thank you! They also have the box of 10 six chocolate packs for £40 plus postage. Good for splitting into small presents for adult stockings/colleagues etc.

Thank you both so much for the QVC tips! 🙏

I also saw on QVC that they have packs of 10 candles (each gift boxed) reduced to £24 plus postage. I can’t link from my phone I’m afraid but hopefully it comes up easily on a search.

To note: they’re not the lovely natural waxes for anyone particular about that but they’re nice looking and I covet quite a few of them, will be hard-pressed to decide which I’m happy to give as little token gifts! 😀

@BerfyTigot (username made me laugh) - Rolife booknooks are great quality, can get them on Amazon. If they are overseas potentially even could buy to have sent direct? (Some places actually have them much cheaper, depending on where they live).

My DD has said she wants a SUPER soft blanket for her bed. Or more accurately she's said "A fluffy one, like super super soft and fluffy". Any suggestions??

Try looking for 'faux rabbit fur' if you want soft and fluffy....faux rabbit fur is what super soft cuddly toys are made of (like some Jellycats).

25% off wine offer is on at Sainsbury’s until 14th October

thanks for this! I always buy 3 x champagne at xmas for gifts so I've managed to save 25% through this offer - brilliant.

Boots had some little sets on offer a couple of weeks ago. Part of the 3 for 2 on gifts I think

Boots has nice Byoma gift sets, I think they work out at ~25% discount. If she is into skincare this book might be a good idea.

Oh, lovely idea. Thank you.

Ha i will do - would go down nicely with her epic collection of jellycat rabbits (though also as a rabbit owner, I feel weird about googling faux rabbit fur, which is daft I know!!)

We suggested them as gifts from various relatives, which worked well. I found it quite difficult to search for second hand just because there are so many types of Thomas trains, but you might have better luck.

A great selection of Really Useful Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends Wooden Railway Engines, both Steamies and Diesels. All are compatible with other makes of wooden railway systems (e.g. Brio, BigJigs, Learning Curve etc.).

Have a look on Vinted, or you can get them new from places like tootally Thomas but they are pricey!

Glad it's not just me struggling to find them!! I've done some further research and they seem to be discontinued. There's quite a few knock offs of the non-motorised ones on ebay, but not sure I can get away with that... and I'm not sure I'll be able to get away with second hand as a santa gift 😐
