Thread 3 - The one with the unhinged crab 🦀

Reastie · 14/09/2025 19:30

I certainly don't want an unhinged crab for Christmas Grin

This post is a work in process and if you have any links you’d like to share or would be good to add then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of mn filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

If you have any referral links then please post on this thread https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212180-bargain-referrals-thread-7 and share around the joy/referral perks.

@Withershins if you buy Byoma from their own website you get 25%, off when you buy 4 products.

Fabulous, thank you so much for the Thomas Land recommendation too! We’re in the NW but we do always plan lots of little trips for Christmas - we did The Paddington Bear Experience in London last December. He loved it! Think he’ll appreciate it even more this year so a Thomas themed event / attraction would be magical!

Thanks so much to everybody that has posted codes, suggestions, endorsements for Brio etc - truly appreciate it!

We did Thomas land for Christmas last year and well worth it. They also sent a free ticket for an extra visit before the end of the year a few days later which was a nice touch.

Hi sorry just popping along to ask if anyone has any advice for some 8/9 year old girls hair accessories ideas? Not sure what sort of thing are in with that age range

I took a gift tag from the Dunelm Christmas Gift tree. I need to get a skincare set for a 14 year old girl. I am looking for something gentle, as I obviously don't know the child or her skin type, and maybe something that is also "on trend". I would appreciate any suggestions/recommendations. Thanks 🙂

Byoma or bubble very en-trend and good for young skin.

just double check the ingredients especially with Byoma as although it’s very popular with tweens and teens they do also do products for much older skin so make sure you don’t get anything with retinols in.

The Ordinary is also very good

Without knowing the child, length of hair style etc.. I’d say you can’t go wrong with satin or fluffy scrunchies. My 8yo DD currently loves her a stitch scrunchie.

Headbands and clips I find are very dependant on the child. I have 3 DDs all with long hair, all hated headbands and clips, occasionally I’d get a themed clip I but I’d never see it again because it would be pulled out and left somewhere.

I’ve just done pink and green fluffy scrunchies in party bags to go with a Wicked Theme other popular themes for this age are Wednesday and K-Pop Demon Hunters.

Further to Dreamland heated throws (still on offer) their underblankets (King/Superking) are also on sale. £29.99/£34.99

Use WINTERCHECK20 for further discount (on the underblankets) or WELCOME10 for first orders.

Does anyone know the kids sizing for Netflix shop please? After a Hunter/x tshirt for dd, she normally wears a 13-14 so was leaning towards an XL in kids? Or should I just go for a women’s small? I can’t measure her without raising suspicion and even if I could I still wouldn’t be able to figure out if the tshirt would be big enough!

Oneborneverydecade · 22/09/2025 07:35

@ChristmasJumperz just ordered 2 t-shirts. Thank you very much.

Happy birthday to your daughter

Why would you? You’re not going to get the items and you’ll need to argue the toss for your money back and even then, you’ve not spent enough for Section 75 to apply.

IfyoushouldmeetaCrocodile · 22/09/2025 08:06

I'm being charged £18 postage for Nexflix shop 😱 Is that right???

Can you measure a t-shirt she has that fits as desired? Then compare this to the size guide

Oh yes ive just looked. Me too! Weird. And weird that the credit is 15.95. Odd number

I think I worked it out, I ordered something, total came to £15.95, they took that from my bank and applied it as 'credit' to my account. The order arrived today and it used that credit to pay for it. Making it look free, when infact that £15 quid was my money,

Still nice deal. beer came in a nice box and the book is already wrapped ready for xmas!

Does anyone know of anywhere selling rugby boots?
DS2 has expressed an interest in playing but don’t want to spend a fortune in case it doesn’t stick
He’s in men’s sizes too (size 9) so need the more expensive adult ones

Sorry if this is a daft question, but I have a lot of Yankee candles, do you think they would fit on the stand. Only asking as you have one. Thanks

We get my ds boots from sports direct. Usually a good range of prices as I refuse to pay for expensive ones. Decathlon near us sell them as .

Thanks, I had debated it but for £9.99 I have one arriving tomorrow!

Elpheba · 22/09/2025 08:53

@EvilHerbivore I would check vinted- I bet there’s some brand new in box ones on there for much less than you’ll find them in the shops. I’ve been buying all my kid’s rugby/football boots from there.
