I certainly don't want an unhinged crab for Christmas Grin

This post is a work in process and if you have any links you’d like to share or would be good to add then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of mn filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

If you have any referral links then please post on this thread https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212180-bargain-referrals-thread-7 and share around the joy/referral perks.

They are on Top Cash Back too

I know kindle fires get slated a lot on here and whilst I agree for the older generation ones, the newest generation Pro 10 ones are fine for Roblox and YouTube, which is all my kids use them for anyway. DD9 previously had a Samsung whilst DD6 got the Pro 10. When the Samsung broke I replaced it with another Pro 10 due to the amazing guarantee - DD6 cracked the screen of hers and they sent me a new one the next day.

WhyDoesItAlways · 19/09/2025 09:58

For thise asking about tablets I put a post up a while ago after someone asked. We had a similar problem with the kindle fire tablets, they start of great but eventually grind to a halt. I assume DS was downloading whatever he wanted and even though i removed a load of stuff to free up space it didn't seem to make much difference.

We switched to a Samsung galaxy S tablet a few years ago and had absolutely no problem with it. We use the family link app so I can see what he's been doing from my phone, set screen and app limits and it also asks me to approve all his app downloads so I can check everything is suitable. The Google play store is also much better than the Amazon app store. Much more variety. And for those yoto users, you can get the yoto app on android tablets too which wasn't available through the amazon app store when we had a kindle.

He has a normal flip over case on it that folds into a stand. Despite bit being one of those big rubber cases it's been dropped lots of times and is still going strong.

MrsMAFs · 19/09/2025 10:07

We moved from the amazon tablet to Ipad. Added it onto our phone contracts at £10 a month.

TheGriffle · 19/09/2025 10:13

Argos have some Hug a Lumps reduced, some slightly more expensive than what they were on Amazon but I’ve managed to get the capybara for dd that wasn’t on Amazon for £11.25 so happy with that. I’ll keep the other £10 one for my present pile.

Thank you. A bit too spendy for the budget unfortunately. I’ve ordered ones in the sale from Osprey and from Passenger to try.

I like the look of the passenger ones - ESCAPE10 gives 10% off the outlet as shared by someone else on the last thread.

RainbowZebraWarrior · 19/09/2025 10:40

I've been picking up these wrapping papers (I think they are quite pretty with the added bonus of being fairly unisex / generic and eco friendly) which have been reduced in Hobbycraft for weeks. They are down to £2 from £4 and you get 9 metres. I've built up quite a stash and I daresay they could also be used for Christmas. I try and use different colours for different people to keep me right, so I like that there are two colourways. They also fit perfectly in one of those big bags with handles that you buy pairs of pillows in.

Just a quick reminder to activate any cashback offers on your banking app. Not very Christmassy but just ordered an organic veg box from Riverford and it’s currently £12 cashback in the Lloyds bank app. So I just got a whole box of veg for £3.75 delivered!

THANKYOU so much for this! I activated the £12 Riverford cashback on Lloyds and went to look on the website.
I've bought a beer gift set for £14.95 https://www.riverford.co.uk/essentials/organic-drinks/stroud-beer-selection-box and added £1 charity donation (can't remember why but I thought I had to get it over £15 for some reason 😀 then also with the code COOKBOOKFREE I have got this recipe book https://www.riverford.co.uk/essentials/books-and-gifts/cook-book-companion-spring-summer
so that is 2 xmas presents done for about £3!! It's free delivery too.
You have to add the cookbook to your basket and then put the code in on checkout (ie the code doesn't add the book).

I have added my referral code to the other chat if anyone wants it but im not sure you can use it with this offer

redjoker · 19/09/2025 11:11

Just to add, I got the autumn cookbook free, i think you can choose!

Petal7 · 19/09/2025 11:30

Sainsbury's have a half price sweet/chocolate sale on selected items, if you have a Nectar card.

I got Cadbury's buttons (in milk, orange and white chocolate), Crunchie bites, Oreo bites and Twirl bites at 97p a bag.

Also, got Sour Patch kids, licquorice allsorts and jelly babies for 75p a bag.

I think that deal ends relatively soon.

All great for Christmas Eve box/stockings/hot chocolate making!

I ordered the mini Articulate game (£3 on Amazon) and Sushi Go (£5.40 on Amazon) and they both will be great stocking fillers - they're still that price currently.

In store,TK Maxx usually have various Wet brushes at £4.99/£5.99 (some with Disney characters/Harry Potter and others that are plain/patterned). These have been a great hit when gifted, especially when paired with a hair mask/hair towel.

Speaking of which, Garnier Ultimate Blends fruit hair food are v popular with my teens and are currently half price at Boots. ( now £4.49)

Im wearing the passenger jumper i bought on the recommendation from that thread and it is lovely!

fishfingersandchipsagain · 19/09/2025 12:00

@SkinnyOatFlatWhiteForMePlease @PersisFord I remembered the 10% off on Passenger. In fact, I hadn’t even heard of the brand before seeing it in this thread, so that was helpful.

Of course, to get to free postage for the dry robe I had to add a jacket and trousers for me. Got to make the most of the bargain, right? 😅😉

LoopyGremlin · 19/09/2025 12:03

I would have loved the Riverford offer but no deliveries to Edinburgh 😢

imnottoofussed · 19/09/2025 12:03

Tkmaxx has a variety of fill your own advent calendars online. It’s not clear what size the drawers are but may be worth ordering to store and returning if unsuitable.

There's a really nice free gift set when you spend £55 at Clinique and a full size 'Take the day off' balm if you spend £70.

Free delivery over £50.

I needed primer and I always get dd her moisture surge moisturiser so I am delighted.

Oh, and remember to go through Quidco or whichever cashback you use.

That's a brilliant offer, thanks so much. I've been meaning to look at Clinique products for a while so this gave me a push.

I bought 2 products which totalled £70, and was delighted to see that that gave me both of those freebies - some companies give just one or the other. Great bargain, and it'll give me a chance to try various other products with the freebies, so thanks again.

hiredandsqueak · 19/09/2025 12:13

Thank you @Whatthecluckingcluck that's my son's favourite an incredible deal.

Moonrobe suggest on their website that you can call them if you need a different sleeve length (and they tell you how long the standard one is). I have borrowed these and dryrobes and the moonrobes are a very good "dupe". https://www.belowthesurface.co.uk/shop-courses-kit/moonrobe-long-sleeve?c=5c17a03f77780

VeruccaSalty · 19/09/2025 12:30

Mickey mouse oodie down to £19. £4 postage though unless you get over £50

Mickey oodie

PearlsPearl · 19/09/2025 12:33

Just bought this- £50 for 200ml is a bargain, and I used PayPal for 7% cashback.

Acatnamedpinto · 19/09/2025 12:42

Chipping in to say I used two excellent recommendations from the ‘small business supporters’ Christmas thread!

One that does candles and wax melts at v. Cheap prices and one that does metal animals (with names) on Driftwood. Both really good products and great customer service. Really happy.

IceCreamplz · 19/09/2025 12:47

Hi, can someone recommend a nice chocolate box for my DH?
I've given him, Godiva, Cadbury Milk tray, Lilly O'Brien, Green and Blacks, Charbonnel et walker, Hotel Chocolat, Lindt and Love Cocoa over the years. Budget up to £30-40.
