Thread 3 - The one with the unhinged crab 🦀

Reastie · 14/09/2025 19:30

I certainly don't want an unhinged crab for Christmas Grin

This post is a work in process and if you have any links you’d like to share or would be good to add then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of mn filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

If you have any referral links then please post on this thread https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212180-bargain-referrals-thread-7 and share around the joy/referral perks.

I always recommend Chelsea Peers pjs. They’re the softest things ever (and have pockets).

fishfingersandchipsagain · 18/09/2025 22:03

Can anyone recommend a dryrobe for a tall man with long arms? I ordered a regatta one but it sits a few inches above his wrists.

Does anyone have any advice on a kids tablet.
We currently have the amazon kids Kindles, but I'm finding them increasingly frustrating to use. The 5yo definitely needs hers updating, but I dont know if there's any alternatives that would give her game access etc.

We moved onto a Samsung Galaxy tab which lasted us a few years for kids to use and us.

That stopped being able to update so we've gone for a Lenovo one that was cheaper but had the same processing power (not techy but I recall DH talking about this).

Some of them are really lovely aren't they. A bit gutted that the marathon runner one was so large - if it was dainty like the others I'd have bought it (to pat myself on the back....)

Oh well done!

Yes, that one is strangely huge.

Evening everyone, hope you are all well.

In the true spirit of Christmas I want to buy myself some new pyjamas...last year i got some bamboo ones and im sure they were recommended on this thread and were a bargain (i am unlikely to have bought them if not!) but I can't find the details, and I've worn them so much I can't find a brand on them but there is a tiny pic of a panda. The reason I love them so much is that they have pockets!

Has anyone got any ideas?

I caught DH trying to order a new laptop bag this evening! I ban him from getting anything for himself after August as he has a November birthday and is really hard to buy for. So he will be getting a laptop bag for his birthday this year!

Was it Sockshop? They have a good range of bamboo stuff and decent discounts every now and then.

Actual Dryrobes have great sleeve lengths.. a minimum of 15cm more than regatta ones.

If anyone makes Christmas cakes, mincemeat etc, Morrisons online have 4 for 3 on baking ingredients and dried fruit, with 2.55% on Topcashback and 10% Lloyds cashback.

I’ve just stocked up.

LuluBell85 · 18/09/2025 23:32

Sorry, can I ask how you find the good deals on books2door?
Thanks in advance :)

FAMILY10 gives 10% off. You can also go through TCB

Cuwins · 19/09/2025 07:19

The sock shop bamboo socks look good. And the Christmas set is a good offer. I’m looking at the pjs- the trousers seem to have a waist band that looks quite tight- almost looks like the waist band on a pair of men’s boxers, is it? I think that would annoy me.

ClaraLane · 19/09/2025 07:21

Thank you for the Sockshop recommendation - have bought both sets for school Christmas presents.

I own a few sets and they do have that kind of waistband but for me I don’t find it irritating as it’s quite soft? I’m autistic and struggle with fabrics etc but these im fine with! 😊

I did however size up as I’m in between a 10-12 and went for a 12. Glad I did as I think the 10 would have been a bit snug on me

Thank you. A bit too spendy for the budget unfortunately. I’ve ordered ones in the sale from Osprey and from Passenger to try.

NancyCarey · 19/09/2025 09:27

There’s 25% off everything at TenthMuse (UK-made solid perfumes) with the code Autumn25, so the solid perfume and metal case bundle comes down to only £28.50.

From previous experience you SHOULD be able to stack this with a referral discount which gets you an additional £3 off, taking it down to £25.50.

The 25% off brings the cost of the perfume refills to only £13.50 too.

This is a beautiful gift - the cases are heavy and very good quality and everything comes beautifully packaged.

You’ll find a referral link on the bargains & referrals board. I’ll put mine on the last page in case anyone would like to use it.

ps my favourite fragrance is ‘clean girl’ which I bought without testing based on the description and absolutely love it.

Lifeisforliving2025 · 19/09/2025 09:29

I thought this was a good price for No7 Advent calendar. It contains 10 full size items and 15 minis. 4.25% cashback from TCB
