I certainly don't want an unhinged crab for Christmas Grin

This post is a work in process and if you have any links you’d like to share or would be good to add then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of mn filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

If you have any referral links then please post on this thread https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212180-bargain-referrals-thread-7 and share around the joy/referral perks.

@Londonmummy66 Oh that's fab to know! I'll have to start looking when I'm in store.

Just a quick reminder to activate any cashback offers on your banking app. Not very Christmassy but just ordered an organic veg box from Riverford and it’s currently £12 cashback in the Lloyds bank app. So I just got a whole box of veg for £3.75 delivered!

Thanks for the reminder! Does anyone know if these type of offers are available through TSB? I’ve just switched and not sure where to look!

There's a really nice free gift set when you spend £55 at Clinique and a full size 'Take the day off' balm if you spend £70.

Free delivery over £50.

I needed primer and I always get dd her moisture surge moisturiser so I am delighted.

Oh, and remember to go through Quidco or whichever cashback you use.

10 is really young to be asking about skincare. Does she watch a lot of tik tok influencers? Please be really careful what you buy for her as the majority of skincare now has actives in it. There's a lot of concern at the moment about young children basically decimating their skin barrier with actives. Avoid anything with AHA/BHA, Vitamin C, any firm of retinoid, high percentages of niacinimide, anything described as 'brightening'. At 10 they dont need any skincare at all. If she wants a cleanser try and steer her towards cerave or aveeno. They don't have the packaging aimed at teens but they are gentle on the skin. Byoma is popular with teens but some products do contain actives. Im 50 and use some of their cleansers and serums. If you feel you want to buy an on trend for teens brand then Bubble is probably the best. Revolution also do a gentle starter kit of cleanser and moisturiser. Glow hub, which is also popular with teens, have age ratings on their products after the founder became really concerned when her 13 year old asked her for a retinol product, so that might be helpful. Just please do your research before you buy for her.

No she doesn’t watch tik tok but lots of her friends come round and talk about skincare and I think DD wants to fit in! It’s a minefield!

@Londonmummy66 thanks so much for the Nereides tip! I have now bought about half a dozen necklaces for me 😳The theory is that I’ll choose one or two and return the others.

WannaBeOrganised · 18/09/2025 18:21

Does anyone have any advice on a kids tablet.
We currently have the amazon kids Kindles, but I'm finding them increasingly frustrating to use. The 5yo definitely needs hers updating, but I dont know if there's any alternatives that would give her game access etc.

SkinnyOatFlatWhiteForMePlease · 18/09/2025 18:28

Sainsbury’s sweet sale is on - Cadbury's chocolate bags, jelly babies, sour patch kids etc all half price with nectar. Good dates, I got a selection for festive movie nights.

Can I ask, what is a popular perfume for a 13 nearly 14 year old girl?
I am rubbish with all things cosmetic but my teen is very into it all.

My dd is 13 she really likes Ariana Grande cloud. But also likes her Ari one too. She loves the layering lab body mists. Another favourite is the Charlie black body spray or impulse. (Savers for £1 each!) Also likes Britney spears fantasy and a christina Aguilera one my mum picked up for £10.

We had fun in town spraying and rating various sprays in lush and Bath & beyond. Came back smelling interesting with lots of the sticks 😆 So could you try that next time you are in town to get an idea of the kind of sprays/scents she likes?! Or alternatively get some sample sized ones with a promise to buy her favourite full sized one after Christmas?!

If you happen to know anyone who works for an airport you might get a decent discount on the big named ones. My husband works for Gatwick and they have a staff event where they can buy heavily discounted perfumes/aftershaves. He got dior sauvage heavily discounted last year as a gift for my mums partner.

BringMeTheBadgers · 18/09/2025 18:38

Has anyone seen these in real life shops?! Stranger things bum bumz. My dd is obsessed with stranger things and has seen them on tiktok and are apparently in B&M and poundland. Both are a bus ride away in opposite directions so don't want a wasted trip if I'm not likely to find them!

I second the Bambu Lab printers. I bought the A1 mini for my son's 9th birthday. He's absolutely loved it. As said, there's a fab app with loads of designs, it's so user -friendly and you can link to a programme to start creating your own models.

Edited

Some of them are really lovely aren't they. A bit gutted that the marathon runner one was so large - if it was dainty like the others I'd have bought it (to pat myself on the back....)

My DD wants two things both of which I know nothing about!

a white fox hoodie: I’ve looked them up and they are so expensive! Are they worth it?! Do they give out codes or anything?

skincare: shes ten and I never use anything on my skin as I’m allergic to so much so I don’t know where to start! What is good for this age?

We got one last Xmas for our niece and it was reduced. It was either black Friday sale or maybe new customer discount? Endd up being about £50 I think

YelenaBelova · 18/09/2025 20:00

An Amazon haul has been delayed by a few days, customer service have just credit my account with a ten pound gift card. I know some people got this before and some didn't, it is worth pursuing.

Blessedbethefruitz · 18/09/2025 20:45

@WannaBeOrganised ive just had this delivered for my ds6 as an upgrade to his kindle fire - i jailbroke that for gaming but it's awful. https://amzn.eu/d/iQ4HEpG

Thank you for looking for me but it has to be the stranger things ones and I can't see them on that website 😔

Arregaithel · 18/09/2025 21:04

@BringMeTheBadgers

Oh apologies. Don't know what pricing normally is but this pack of 4 is available at Amazon US for ~£22.00 (no import duty to pay)

PersisFord · 18/09/2025 21:24

Evening everyone, hope you are all well.

In the true spirit of Christmas I want to buy myself some new pyjamas...last year i got some bamboo ones and im sure they were recommended on this thread and were a bargain (i am unlikely to have bought them if not!) but I can't find the details, and I've worn them so much I can't find a brand on them but there is a tiny pic of a panda. The reason I love them so much is that they have pockets!

Has anyone got any ideas?

I caught DH trying to order a new laptop bag this evening! I ban him from getting anything for himself after August as he has a November birthday and is really hard to buy for. So he will be getting a laptop bag for his birthday this year!

MaybeItsTimeForMeNow · 18/09/2025 21:28

@perisford could it be lazy panda?

MaybeItsTimeForMeNow · 18/09/2025 21:29

@persisford could it be lazy panda?

Sorry for the typo!

PersisFord · 18/09/2025 21:33

Yes!!! You are a genius!! And I now see that they are from sockshop and I remember that's where I ordered them from. I didn't twig when I was checking my orders!

Thank you xxx

MaybeItsTimeForMeNow · 18/09/2025 21:39

Yay! I'm so pleased, I ordered dh some pj's from there and he equally loves them ❤️ enjoy!
