Afternoon!

It's a mix of all weathers today! Rain, sun, wind, in any combo it feels like! Currently sunny and windy. Pleasant in the direct sun; chilly otherwise. Definitely autumnal.

I hear you re shrinkflation, 70. Lots of it about, but very much so where chocolate is concerned.

Crazy weather here today, too.
I think the strain and stresses of the last few months have caught up with me 😔
I feel ill and I'm not sleeping
Dh is stressed with work and dd2 starts FE college next week, then older dd starts job hunting, then we have a family funeral 😔
I'd quite like to just stop the world for a couple of days 😕
I'm having today "off" other than dropping dd at work earlier and checking in on mum.
Tomorrow I have errands to run, the beds need stripping and the bathroom needs a good clean 😬

Some days are like hat , you get everything from all quarters and you're stuck in the middle ( there's a song there ) paddling madly like a swan trying to look calm above the water .

We've had Build An Ark weather here (bonus : I won;t need to water any plants ) but it means no washing going out . I;m using the hanging rails and the AirPod dryer with the dehumidifier on.

It's looking clearer now so might get the towels out ?

We have the air show this weekend at home great for trying to get through the traffic to get home so of course the weather is dire.

We're not sure if all the planes will be able to fly due to the wind speed. The Lancaster had a radiator problem too, so may not be flying even if it's not too windy. Need to check to see where it's up to, actually.

We’ve had a chilly but sunny day today. Ark weather appears to have happened overnight which saves me the job of watering everything.

I’m feeling a bit sorry for myself today. I’m part way through a dental treatment plan (another 3 appointments to go) and my jaw is aching. DH is loving the silence though I think 😂

On the plus side, DH took pity on me and directed me to chill out for an hour on the sofa so I finished my cross stitch penguin. No writing yet as I’m undecided on whether to follow the pattern for that or alter it.

I love John Lewis, but their Christmas offerings have been quite odd for the past few years.

117 @70isaLimitNotaTarget I’m in awe of the John Lewis bonkers decorations, but I think the pink fondant fancy might be my favourite.
Don’t know if anyone lives in the Keighly area, but I took my parents to Taylor’s on the Green after some random late night You Tubeing, and it was great. DH is happy with anywhere that has 1/3 pint tasters from the Timothy Taylor brewery. He also liked the food 😁

Its absolutely gorgeous today but its supposed to be pouring down. I've got a wash on but not sure whether to hang out or not.......... eeek the dilemma. I've got to go to the supermarket so I can't be here to do the mad dash outside to yank it all in.

It's gorgeous here right now. However, once the air show starts later, the weather turns for the worst, obviously! (It only starts today, Magnolia, so no planes yesterday. I'm doubting many will fly later, tbh; one planned flight cancelled yesterday due to the weather.)

We've travelled home early to avoid the air show traffic. Can't wait to have my own bed...why do holiday cottages have such hot duvets?! It's been a toasty few nights.

I’m going to make re-usable pullable crackers this year and I haven’t found a pattern that I like yet so I’ve gone rogue and am designing my own. Fingers crossed it works out!

In other news I recently bought a blocking board and it’s been a revelation. Look at the difference between the blocked and unblocked squares!
I feel silly for not doing it sooner.

@GrannyWeatherwaxsBroomstickThank you but I assure you that most of the time I wing it with some interesting results 😂

But the blocking board is very cool. I’m using up cheap acrylic yarn here to make a little christmas throw and I pegged it, spritzed with water and carefully dried it with my hairdryer on the hottest setting. Don’t get too close though

I went to John Lewis today and didn't even look for Christmassey things but I did have a mosey round the Hallowe'en stock , mainly mugs and things .

I need to get some new Hallowe'en dishtowels ( Yes I know , but In My Defence , we use them all year as we have black cats . They think it's in honour of them )

I did spend some time ( while waiting for DD to get ready ) reading some of the old Christmas Fridge posts .
I did a quick fridge clean yesterday before the Sainsbury delivery but it does need defrosted ( again ) as it gets loads of ice in the back .
But before I do Christmas Fridge , I;ll need to sort through the freezers in the garage ( 2 small chest freezers ) and get a shelf free in the pantry for the Christmas food . I don;t think I have anything in there from last year - we are the Christmas pudding ( after about three years ) , I might get a couple of the small ones for DH and me . DD and DS won't touch them.

Now it's nearly September I've got the last of the family birthdays out of the way (except for mine, but I don't need to worry about that) and I can start to get into the Christmas spirit! I've picked up a few things but I'm already getting anxious about being 'behind', which I know is ridiculous. I'm retiring in November so I need to cut back a bit this year and I'm finding it very very hard....

Ooo love this thread, so cosy!! I did pretty much all my one year old twins Xmas shopping on Vinted yesterday…trying to be a bit eco friendly 😂 they’re one so anything colourful and noisy they can bash around makes them happy! Also got some nice books and Xmas stocking bits (light up balls and a Xmas board book each from Vinted, coco melon balls, finger puppets, sensory bean bags and flash cards from Amazon). Just need socks, toothbrush , tights and snacks now which I’ll buy closer to Xmas 🤶
will do my families gift shopping in October and partners gifts in November….feeling organised!

I've done most of my Christmas shopping, but don't have many ideas re: dd2. I do need some main gifts for her.

We host every year yes, it annoy's me. No, I can't leave elderly family on their own so I'll start making shopping lists for that soon
I've put myself on a book buying ban (for myself) and no more toiletries/perfume, either 😬
