OK, so you all went on a bloody posting frenzy!

Can someone add the countdown from today to make it easier tomorrow? Thanking you!

Morning.
Just about to put a wash on.
Not sure what we will do @Magnoliasunrise but it's nice having a day together 💙

NoCheesesForUsMeeces · 19/08/2025 12:46

Im pretty sure logo stuff isn’t compulsory in primary here, just colours which are easy enough but DH likes the uniform and for now I’m happy with the eco shop stuff (it’s literally £1 per tshirt and £2 per jumper). And I like the idea of being environmentally friendly while we can.

When is GCSE results day? It always highlights how weird my family were when I read about parents being anxious about their dc’s results or planning celebrations - I did amazingly well in mine but I collected the results alone and no one was particularly interested in them so no one was home when I got back. My then boyfriend’s mum was more interested and proud than anyone in my family.

We’re about to set ourselves up lakeside for a few hours and it is decidedly (and nicely) chilly. I’ve thrown on a woolly cardigan and LO kept saying he was cold so is in shorts, tshirt and jumper. It’s making a nice change from the heatwave!

Its Thursday @NoCheesesForUsMeeces

Afternoon, I had another bad sleep night so am very sluggish today and couldn’t get myself in gear to have a swim when tide was high. Laundry on, clean things put away, suitcase packed, had a proper shower, about to make lunch, and finished as much on the paper mountain as I will this trip (lots going in recycling tomorrow, quite a bit filed properly, and a bundle coming back with me next week) so guest room is tidy again.

I am about to cook a mushroom and cheese omelette for lunch, then check work stuff before dentist (to rebuild a broken tooth) at 5 and hit the road then to go to DMILs for a few days. So I need to get myself moving…

swampwitch0 · 19/08/2025 13:58

3 x loads of washing done
I've showered so don't look quite as horrible 😀
Time for my book 📖

swampwitch0 · 19/08/2025 14:07

16 degrees here and a bit drizzly
I LOVE it 😀

DanceWithYourBalloon · 19/08/2025 15:37

We don’t have uniform to buy here in France but we do have to provide all of their pens, pencils, rulers etc.
it’s confusing and costs me a small fortune every summer. My oldest is only 7 and it’s only going to increase as they get bigger. 🙃

In festive activities I’ve picked up my festive granny square crochet project I started last year and I’ve found a felt mistletoe decoration kit I forgot I had. I’m also gathering my re-usable cracker sewing materials rather slowly.

Blardy chilly this morning then it got clammy . I put a load of towels in the wash for DH to hang out .

Bought a nice blanket for my DMum and a festive throw for DD ( I know it's August but why not Xmas Grin . She likes her festive/winter bedding as soon as Hallowe'en is over ! )

Wrote a list for the BH weekend , I might get as far as accomplishing some of them and ticking them off as done . Maybe .

BiddyPopthe2nd · 21/08/2025 07:39

The sun is out here this morning but there is an autumnal chill in the air. I am about to go into a coffee shop to do an hour of work (it’s more peaceful than MILs in about 20 mins when 2 DNs wake up, I am out anyway having just dropped DH to the train for his commute to the city for another day of interviews). Going out to see my DPs for dinner - and a bunch of DSiblings, their DPs and a visiting DN.

But once I do what I need to for work, I have plans to pick windfall apples in MILs garden and to gather sloes from hedges near her. No ideas about how to use apples yet, but there is a bottle of gin and some sugar in the plan for sloes 🍷😀 which should be ready by Christmas! And am going to the city this afternoon to meet DH, and will go to the good coffee roasters for a few packets of beans for home and my place in my wandering before he’s finished.

Morning!

Good luck to those who have kids getting their results today. 🤞🤞🤞

It is very much autumnal now, as the temp has dropped in the morning quite significantly. Better for the dog's walk / run though, as neither of us get too hot then!

It's also really quite dark by 9pm now. And just like that, summer draws to a close.

Hi! I'm a new autumn/winter/Christmas lover, having really disliked it in the past.
I grew up not celebrating Christmas and I used to suffer with SAD. I think now I'm older and more settled I'm starting to settle into the comfort and quietness of it all.
Anyway, I've really enjoyed reading and today, inspired by a drizzly dark morning, I have put out a few Autumnal pieces...@

Welcome Stressy, I am also a big fan of autumn but I'm still clinging on to the remnants of Summer. Supposed to be 27 degrees Monday (glass of rosé anyone?) I can manage the heat when I know its not for much longer.

Thanks for the good luck Fluffy, DS did really well and is now off to 6th form. (Honestly can't believe I'm saying 6th form when it was only 2 minutes ago he was clutching my hand tightly on the way into reception 😭)

Well done Swamp DD too.

DS currently at Reading festival so I am constantly checking phone for updates and not getting very much. The tent is up though and I am hoping he managed to find it to sleep in at some point in the night 😬. I could do with a small documentary film crew following him around. Actually scrap that I'm probably better off not knowing.

swampwitch0 · 22/08/2025 08:33

Congrats to your ds @Magnoliasunrise 👏
Today will mostly be washing, sorting mums meds out and trying to encourage older dd to do some banking admin 😅

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 22/08/2025 08:45

Congratulations SwampDD and MagnoliaDS

HairsprayBabe · 22/08/2025 09:28

TheWoollybacksWife · 22/08/2025 10:51

swampwitch0 · 22/08/2025 13:46

Several Christmas gift parcels on there way here so I need to get my storage bags down from the loft 😬
I try not to use Amazon so I get stuff from Ebay, vinted, awesome books, etsy etc..
Have got some good bargains!
😄🎄

sunshineandrain82 · 22/08/2025 14:17

I’m on the search for Lego poly bags for my son’s stocking. But at cheaper prices.

other then that Christmas shopping is taking a bit of a back burner for a bit. I have my C-section scheduled for next week. With that on Friday and kids back to school following Monday it’s a bit hectic at moment.

im glad where we are the temperature has come down. I wasn’t looking forward to a hospital stay in that heat. It’s always boiling on ward once had baby. Hoping to be out next day as long as things go to plan.

my son is now trying to put a Christmas list together for his brother. Keep reminding him that he only he 3 months but he’s excited. We are away on lead up to Christmas which will be interesting.

swampwitch0 · 22/08/2025 14:34

@sunshineandrain82
Good luck for next week! 💕🍀

GrannyWeatherwaxsBroomstick · 22/08/2025 14:42

@70isaLimitNotaTarget
I almost bought an autumnal snoopy mug, but resisted.
I've got a cupboard full of emma bridgewater mugs that I love.
I did buy an autumnal candle though 🍁🍂😃

Where was the snoopy mug? Hoping it's a shop somewhere near me!

To those of you who put their ornamental pumpkins out in September , when do you take them down? In time to put the Christmas decorations up? It would be nice to have them out for 3 months but I’ve normally only had them out on October .

Autumn decs go up at the start of September in our house and down at the end of November
