Evening!

I'm tired after today, but the buffet was a success. Tomorrow it's dinner!

Everyone seems to love their gifts, which is always good. 😊 Bed soon as it's all go again from the morning!

Ahh that is quite poignant Magnolia

Though my DS (25) still does the thing he did as a little boy - him patting me on the back and saying "I;m through hugging you now" Pat Pat Pat

Little toad

The 'last bite' is ;ike when you're eating a bag of Malteasers and you don;t realise the bag is empty ! Much nicer to find a rogue one in the corner Xmas Grin

182 I am finally sitting down after spending quite a few hours doing house jobs. Been doing the deep clean and boring jobs that often get forgotten (have emptied and cleaned kitchen cupboards, cleaned skirting boards, light switches etc), as well as doing some boring admin stuff. Will have a quick sandwich, do about half hours worth of tidying upstairs then have a peaceful hour of stitching before meeting DH at my DMs for tea with LO.

Oh dear magnolia, I think I have something in my eye.

My LO has moved very rapidly to wanting to do everything by themself ("I do it" is a favourite line here) etc. And if I mention them being too little for something I am corrected quickly with a sharp "I not a baby, I big" 🥺 so I think we're cycling through last time things quite quickly which is sad - but it's always replaced with something new.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 26/06/2025 21:29

Now we've past the HalfWayHouse , I can put some thoughts to Christmas if I see things out there .
DD has decided on a handbag she likes (I'll look nearer the time)

I bought her some Leighton Denny nail polish - bought a couple from Marks'n;Spencer but they only carry a few colours so I went to the website for more .

The Cinnamon Buns were very nice , I added some pecans to the filling which were delicious. If I make them in cooler weather I might try proving them overnight ( they take an hour then shaped then 45 minutes second prove then bake . So a process but they can be left to get on with it )

Magnoliasunrise · 26/06/2025 23:20

@70isaLimitNotaTarget is that the hairy bikers cinnamon buns recipe?

I've had lots of rose tonight after arguing for ages with DS about why he can't bring his friends on holiday with us. Apparently I'm very selfish to just want it to be the 4 of us. We've hired a villa so they could squash in but really don't want to be responsible for 3 underage boys wanting to go out on the piss. Plus not fair on DD 13 - I've just said straightforward no but now being asked to justify, Grrrrrr..... nice that my kids have good negotiation skills but sometimes wish i could just say "because I bloody said so"

Magnolia , it's the Paul Hollywood recipe I used but I'm going to work my way through a few to find my favourite

I have taken my DS to work , DH and DD are both WFH.
I have been to Greggs , now eating my croissants;n;coffee (mine are Tesco as Greggs don't do almond croissants )
I bet Booths do almond croissants ...<sulk>

Then an exciting day of laundry , , tidying and cooking Xmas Grin

Magnoliasunrise · 27/06/2025 10:37

The added pecans sound delicious 70. Let us know when you find the best recipe.

Morning!

I'm just back from taking the dog out. It's a bit warm, so I made him keep stopping for a breather / water and we just walked for some of it too.

Busy old week here. I need to weed the front and mow the back lawn today. Catch up with stuff here.

It's meant to be nice-ish today, so we should get lots of washing done.

We went up that Larndan (again) as DD wanted to visit a couple of places now DH was ok . He wasn;t London-Ready on Wednesday .

It was so busy , as I expected , but love the vibe and energy . Though I do prefer London after September .
Lots of sales on now

Into the hundred and seventies now .

I need to book my Christmas A/L soon , I work Twixmas but I do like Christmas Eve off

I am sitting by a fan and glugging water still as I am boiled !

Magnoliasunrise · 29/06/2025 08:08

You are brave 70, going into town on a Saturday.

Went to get my highlights done yesterday, which I loathe. I wish I could just take my head off and leave it there like Worzel Gummidge and get on with doing something more useful while they fanny around with my hair. 3 hours and hundreds of pounds later I've got blue hair!!! I was ready to storm back this morning but I think its just the toner and it'll fade after a couple of washes and to be fair the actual highlights are quite nice.

We've got the final sports fixtures of school year this morning then MASSIVE pile of ironing then out for DS family birthday meal tonight.

NoWordForFluffy · 29/06/2025 17:45

Time is rattling along now!

A hot Saturday in London?! 😰 🥵 Not my idea of fun.

I've just started my first batch of fruity vodka off. We had some strawberries and blueberries from the school food cupboard, so they've gone into a litre of vodka. I've not done blueberries before, so we shall see how that goes!

I hope your hair doesn't stay blue, Magnolia!

@NoWordForFluffy we went into London today. It was soo hot. But Homeslice for lunch was a fab treat.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 29/06/2025 21:02

The Elizabeth Line is great , all the trains are new and well designed .
The Northern Line , not so much .

GrannyWeatherwaxsBroomstick · 30/06/2025 11:15

178 Good morning. Insanely hot here today and I need to do some ironing or DS has no school shirts tomorrow 🙁 was looking for a melting emoji but I couldn’t find one. Also, DH pointed out that I am very out of touch and have no clue what most of them actually mean.

Magnoliasunrise · 01/07/2025 07:04

@GrannyWeatherwaxsBroomstick same - on a school whatsapp group message i was going to post a red heart but then noticed everyone posting green hearts and i thought god what the hell is a green heart for and ended up not bothering.

Insanely hot here too. Just about to go to work and already feel like I'm melting, its about a zillion degrees. So happy looking at tomorrows 23 forecast.

On the plus side theres barely any laundry left in the house.

NoWordForFluffy · 01/07/2025 07:16

Morning!

Dear god it's clammy. Save me from the clamminess! I'm dying a sweaty death.

We aren't as hot as you lot down south, but it's 90% humidity at the moment and I just had to walk 1.5 miles to the bloody station. Urggghh.

I'm not sure where the weather is heading later this week. If I survive the clamminess I shall look! 🤣 #dramallama

I just Googled what a Green Heart is
There's green/blue/red/pink/black/purple/yellow/orange
Then go onto sparkling/broken/double/orbiting/bandaged...

I am none the wiser and officially out of touch . I thought I was darn wiv da kidz but it seems not

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 01/07/2025 17:57

Hottest Day of the Year so far in Darkest Essex

NoCheesesForUsMeeces · 02/07/2025 04:47

176 Morning. Have been woken by a sweaty toddler and some very loud birds 🥱 I’m hoping to get back to sleep soon but it’s been half hour so far and I’m struggling.

Weather is due to cool down to 21° for a few days but it’s been ridiculous. Our house is clearly well insulated because even when the temps outside are manageable, inside is a furnace.
I’ve been a sweaty, clammy, miserable mess for the last week.

70 I don’t give a thought to the meaning behind the emojis. Just use the one that seems nearest to represent what I want to say 🤷‍♀️

GrannyWeatherwaxsBroomstick · 02/07/2025 19:05

Hope you are cooler now @NoCheesesForUsMeeces it’s much better here now. I miss the days when a little radiator used to come and snuggle at whatever time the sun woke him up.

NoWordForFluffy · 03/07/2025 07:12

Morning!

Lovely start today. Nice to get out with the dog.

The forecast isn't great for the next few days, though it's improved from constant rain which was forecast for the weekend earlier in the week!

Hopefully you're feeling cooler now, Meeces.

Morning too!

I agree so much better now its cooler. I was delighted that we had some rain yesterday! And today is going to be my perfect 25 degrees part sunny/part cloudy. Off to a mini festival later so I'll be getting my glitter on!

GrannyWeatherwaxsBroomstick · 03/07/2025 10:03

Morning, the sun is out but the temperature is much better. Plus, my laundry basket is empty. It's the small joys 😊
