Evening!

I'm tired after today, but the buffet was a success. Tomorrow it's dinner!

Everyone seems to love their gifts, which is always good. 😊 Bed soon as it's all go again from the morning!

Happy Rudolph Day.

That sounds scary Fluffy!!

Thanks for the heads up on the bunnies 70, i'll avoid them. Not keen on too sweet.

Nothink xmassy planned today but i might look online and get some bargain christmas baubles or something if anything left.

PumpkinSpicedTea · 25/01/2025 16:09

I'm in Scotland and we were in the red zone yesterday. The schools, supermarkets, local shops all closed 😱 lots of awful destruction on social media but we managed to keep safe and not have any house damage.

I forgot about Rudolph day 🤦🏻‍♀️ my DD has her 7th birthday on Monday and we're having a wee family party tomorrow so I've been cleaning the whole house top to bottom today. For it to be turned into chaos tomorrow with more presents and stuff to try and find homes for.

Oooh I like it when the numbers are nice Xmas Grin

Just doing some late night cleaning ( kitchen worktop) I have taken the small electricals off ( toaster , slow cooker etc) and DS cleaned the worktops while I did the glass protector .
It'll need to dry (wooden worktop) overnight then on Sunday we can do the next one .
I got quite into the Christmas Clean-A-Long last year , I reckon this will go in my Christmas Diary , for now just a reminder .

I need to do some garden tidy up tomorrow before it rains .
Looking at our weather forecast it will be dry from the 1st but tipping down this week . So a while till I can get washing out .

NoWordForFluffy · 26/01/2025 11:02

I knew you'd be happy with the number today, 70! Xmas Grin

I'm just back from a little run with the dog. The wind is picking up again here. It's forecast up to 50mph this afternoon. I hope no more roof tiles head off from the houses already affected.

Our washing is out before the rain starts. It's bedding and blankets in the main, so shouldn't take long in this breeze!

@NoWordForFluffy I put my bedding out the other day in the crazy wind and it dried so quickly! Love the smell of outdoor dried washing.

I've just opened my Lush Snow Fairy copy, it's the Aldi one. Did anyone else get some? It smells so much like the Lush shower gel but at a fraction of the price. Santa always brings mum and dad a stocking, he was trying to keep costs down this Christmas though! Aldi one hasn't got glitter in which to be honest I'm not at all bothered about. Hopefully Santa will bring some next Christmas!

It absolutely tipped down today ! Good for the water butt I suppose .

Next week we'll be in February so a few more days to enjoy January ( not my favourite month but I don't want to wish my life away ) I can do a last sprint of cleaning/recycling and thinking what I do need not just buying things because they look nice ,

It'll be a while before I'm ready to give up my winter bedding though Xmas Grin

TheWoollybacksWife · 27/01/2025 19:07

The water butts here are brimming 70 💧💧💧

I need to get motivated for February birthdays and organise cards and presents this week as they are all in the first week or so.

Magnoliasunrise · 27/01/2025 19:48

We've had a lot of Jan birthdays, mine, DM's, DF's, and 3 good friends, plus DD's this week so I'll be attempting to make a 4 tiered chocolate orange cake for the weekends sleepover but I'm feeling a bit grumpy and lethargic - wet weather and dry January don't help. So I'll need to motivate myself.

Wholetthedogsoutwhowhowho · 27/01/2025 20:08

@Magnoliasunrise chocolate orange cake sounds delicious! You'll have to post a picture on here once you've made it. Sidoli make a nice choc orange cake, it has orange curd running through it 😋 but homemade sounds even better!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 27/01/2025 20:18

4 tiered chocolate orange cake you say ..........

And you can decorate it with mini Terrys Chocolate Orange segments ( I bought a bag Exploding Candy ones , they were very nice Grin )

Morning!

Magnolia, a 4 tiered cake sounds amazing!

Our water butt is brimming and the garden is a sodden mess. I need to contact our developer about it, as gardens aren't meant to get waterlogged within 2m of the property and ours is a veritable swamp! The dog gets filthy out there. 😩

It's Tuesday so it's office day here. I like seeing people but it's just a bloody trek. And I get way less done when I'm there!

It's nice to see the lighter days starting to come along. Spring will be on us soon!

@NoWordForFluffy I keep thinking to myself spring is on its way!! Just to try motivate my way through the miserable weather! I can't believe it's February already at the weekend though, January has flown by for me! Have a good day in the office!

I met a friend for lunch today and sorted out this month's birthday cards. Needed a second mortgage mind 😱

Now I'm sitting at the kitchen table with a glass of wine, meal planning and ordering my supermarket shop. I have just realised that I'm drinking the "au vin" for tomorrow's Coq au vin. Oops 😬

NoWordForFluffy · 29/01/2025 20:03

Best add more wine to the order, Woolly!

DH finished wallpapering my office today. It's dead nice (photo attached!). I'm painting it at the weekend.

While he was in Dunelm earlier, he spotted some other amazing paper, so we're now going to decorate the downstairs loo as well! I also bought more tiles for the bathroom, as we're going to add a shower over the bath, plus a mixer tap for that purpose. You'd think having a new build would come with less stuff to do, but no! 🤣

Oh that is very interesting wallpaper @NoWordForFluffy , I like it but I'm not sure if I could work surrounded by those fish/sea creatures .
You;ll be reading the scripts in times when your brain freezes Grin

Can't believe January is already coming to a close! Crazy how fast it's gone, for me anyway!

Felt like spring was here this morning, i even had the washing out as I'd checked the weather and rain wasn't due until late tonight. Well......cue horrendous rain and even hail stones!! What was i thinking, wishing spring upon us!! The washing was promptly brought back inside!

I believe it's 329, 70!

I hope you enjoyed your coq this evening, Woolly! 😳🤣

We had non-forecast hail and rain earlier too. Very wintery! Luckily the washing wasn't still out!

Feb will rattle along as it's short. March soon! 🤣

I blame the ever-so tiny font on my laptop screen . I'm not wishing away 100 days of my life BTW !!!

Mind you , I have to take my shoes and socks off if I want to count above 10 . Xmas Wink

NoCheesesForUsMeeces · 31/01/2025 09:19

Morning. Nothing much to report here - having a LO has really made my life feel small (not complaining but does mean I don't have much to add).

Spending this morning cleaning bathrooms, kitchen again and making up party bags.
This afternoon will be riveting - probably building magnetic tile towers, racing cars and cooking tea.

I swear I spend 75% of my time walking around the house, despairing of the mess and cleaning/tidying the same few rooms. Bloody relentless!

I have also decided to start crocheting again as it's been ages so I've picked a pattern and will start on that later, it's going to be a blanket for LOs room. No doubt it'll be summer before it's finished though 🙄

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 31/01/2025 10:48

Cleaning here too Meeces and I don't have any LO to blame for mess Grin
I am ploughing through laundry now (new WM) so that's my day planned .
I have vacuumed upstairs /stairs/hall .

Going to pick DD up later and look out things for recycling .

I have more brocilli than an average human could deal with so some sort of pasta is on the cards .

MrsDilligaf · 31/01/2025 19:36

Hello all,

Bought my first Christmas 2025 present today - popped into Home Bargains for dishwasher salt, and somehow spent 80 quid...

They had a Decleor Gift Bag in there for £3.99! Taking DD shopping tomorrow so may see if they have any left - they will be perfect for teacher gifts.
