Christmas words/phrases that make you cringe

Do you have any Christmas words or phrases that make you cringe.

Mine are:
Crimbo
The Big Day
Magical.

The latter two are partly because I think it puts too much pressure on people to do something that isn't attainable - too much emphasis on things being perfect during a particular 24 hour period.

Little children will be happy and excited (and probably get overwhelmed and overtired and have tantrums) if they have family who love them, some presents from family and Santa and some treats/special food and some decorations like a Christmas tree. Beyond this I'm not sure what "making it magical" really means. It will be what it will be and children will react however they react.

As @DappledThings says @Clafoutie the X comes from Christianity.

Also, we are always being told that the UK is culturally Christian and we need to get with the program and not complain, or have a 'war on Christmas'. Surely part of that is accepting that non-Christians can call it what they like as well?

Otherwise it's just imposing your faith on others. Which I assume you aren't suggesting.

Oh God I'm so glad I'm not the only one that hates the expression "all the trimmings"!

"Something to unwrap" is very cringey when used about adults. Seems redolent of buying people tat so they can have the experience of ripping paper up.

Definitely not! I abhor it too.😒
Along with that other stupid question, "Are you all ready for Christmas then?" 🙄. What is that supposed to mean?

As you can tell I'm a bit bah humbug about the whole thing.😂

Oh and should have added that twee old timeless classic - "The Christmas walk".

Sorry but if everyone who claims to do that actually does it then why don't I see armies of families out and about on Christmas Day afternoon?

Picky bits

"We're just having sliced ham, cheese and picky bits"

I've never heard the phrase 'the Christmas walk'. Sounds like it means you don't walk any other time. For anyone who has a dog, surely it needs a walk on Christmas Day like any other day?

Of course non-Christians have the right to call it what they like, and Christians have a right to feel offended. Both are equally valid in my eyes, and I was not suggesting otherwise.

Right is one thing. Point is if a Christian is offended about someone saying Xmas then they are simply mistaken and are getting offended over Christmas being called Christmas. Which is silly.

Posh Chocs
Picky Bits
Christmas Telly

Could definitely do prison time for any of those three......
