I get £30. It's better than nothing and I'm grateful 🙏 usually get wine for Christmas with it.

worriedgal · 20/12/2024 08:43

£40 this year
Down from £50 the previous years but better than nothing

bigkidatheart · 20/12/2024 08:45

Nothing

StiffyByngsDogBartholomewsChristmasBone · 20/12/2024 08:47

Nothing, plus we have a leave embargo for the Christmas period which doesn't get lifted until November so nobody can really make any plans.

cocoromo · 20/12/2024 08:51

I don’t get a bonus, however one of my lovely learners got my a fantastic hamper of tea and biscuits which I was incredibly grateful for ☺️

The thread, as usual, is full of public sector workers saying they don't get a bonus. What they are missing is that bonuses aren't all that, they are just a cost efficient way for a company to pay you as a one off with no long term commitment.

Here's your choice: a 5 % bonus that is not pensionable this year or an 4 % salary increase. Which is better?

Yeah, Dh gets a pretty hefty annual bonus but there are triggers most of which are not directly under his control etc. he’d rather have the guaranteed income of a higher actual wage. Lots of private sector workers are also not getting bonuses or quite paltry ones.

Hmm... I'm in the HEI sector. Not only do we not get a bonus, we're up financial shit creek with the govt washing their hands of us, so no pay rise either.

kikisparks · 20/12/2024 09:35

Nope. Our pay rise backdate usually ends up being our bonus equivalent but we rejected the offer this year.

StrawberryWater · 20/12/2024 09:39

Nope, nothing.

No bonuses for husband either. They used to give him quite a bit of extra money but they they decided that was only for those at the top of the tree. Those in the middle and below were deemed fit enough for some wine and chocs but now even that's stopped. This year they were told they could have a buffet but they needed to bring their own food!

Can't think why he's leaving in January lol (actually it's more than that but the way the bosses disregard the efforts of those below them hasn't helped).

Ceebeegee · 20/12/2024 09:48

£200 plus a hamper and an early finish on Christmas eve

AmazingBouncingFerret · 20/12/2024 09:59

Coffee shop.
Between a team of six of us we have had roughly 2k to split and enjoy. A lot of it as cash, some had to be spent on party/booze and then receipts shown to claim back.

RestYeMerryGentlewomen · 20/12/2024 10:04

I’m getting a paid for Christmas dinner out as a volunteer.
In my first job I used to get an entire weeks wages!
In my second job I used to get Christmas dinner out and £50.
@Standingontheedgeofforever I has free Christmas-lunch for 25 years when I worked in higher education.

Well obviously a pay increase, although we didn’t get 4%

I’m not complaining about lack of bonus, was just contributing to the thread.

MsMcG · 20/12/2024 10:17

Private sector, performance based, approx 10% of salary. It's paid in Dec wages which is always lovely

Itsannamay · 20/12/2024 10:21

€150 voucher (same for everyone)
1/2 day on Xmas eve and 27th off this year

sansou · 20/12/2024 10:24

Christmas meal for me. We could have opted for a £30 gift voucher instead but I preferred the social outing. DH received wine/chocolate. Hugely more lowkey this year but both our companies have announced redundancies so not really surprising. In the past, the best was a Fortnum & Mason's hamper followed by a M&S hamper then various amounts of giftcards.

Katieweasel · 20/12/2024 10:28

Nothing for me but my DH gets one of those vouchers you can use in many shops. £40 this year which is more than normal. I'll use it to get nice food bits from M & S which I couldn't justify paying for without it.

brokenwand · 20/12/2024 10:29

yes, the amount varies

1984Winston · 20/12/2024 10:40

The last couple of years I've got £600, just waiting to hear if we will get one next year!

MrsTulip · 20/12/2024 10:41

A better grade than I thought I would get on my assignment and a card with some thoughtful words and beautiful prayer from the church wardens at one of my placement churches. My Rainbows parents all put together to get me some wine and flowers (but I also have my birthday over our Christmas break)

sunshineandshowers40 · 20/12/2024 07:50

Nothing but I work for a charity.

Same

Purplecatshopaholic · 20/12/2024 11:08

Nothing here - public sector, so not expected. Might get a bottle of wine if you have a nice boss (I dont, so I didn’t!)

Iliketulips · 20/12/2024 11:08

We get a 'Christmas gift' of £24 for every whole day we work per week.

My second job, absolutely nothing.

elliejjtiny · 20/12/2024 11:15

I get £10.

1 company I worked with, the amount you got was on a sliding scale depending on how senior you were and how many hours you worked. So the manager got £40 which was quite a lot in those days and the Saturday girls (I was one of them) got £3.50. Which was equal to the price of one portion of fish and chips.

Should have been the other way round!

housethatbuiltme · 20/12/2024 11:31

My husband does but as I currently can't work due to my illness we get income based benefit top up and it counts it as wage income and stops the benefit for December so actually we often come out with less than we would otherwise and end up struggling.
